Chapter 156 - The Duel of Armageddon

This apocalyptic scene made Dumbledore's usually calm heart pound wildly. An attack of this magnitude could not be blocked by an ordinary defensive spell.

He activated Transfiguration to its full potential, and the ground of the valley seemed to melt into a liquid. Countless rocks and mud condensed above Dumbledore's head, forming a massive steel shield.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The meteors slammed into the shield, making a deafening roar. The back of the shield was dented with countless craters of various shapes.

Although he had seemingly blocked the attack, Dumbledore did not let his guard down, for he had caught a glimpse of a large empty space behind Victor. Then, a meteor with a diameter of over a hundred meters tore through the battered shield and came crashing down.

"Ultimate Expecto Patronum!" Dumbledore's pupils constricted as he immediately cast his strongest defensive charm. A silvery-white phoenix flew out of the Elder Wand, carrying a divine radiance, and charged straight at the giant meteor.

BOOM!!!

A powerful, visible shockwave shook the entire valley, causing rocks to crumble, and the white clouds in the sky were scattered by the immense power.

Countless rock fragments fell from the sky, creating splashes in the underground pools that had just sprung up.

Meanwhile, on a nearby mountaintop, Grindelwald was watching the duel. He was hunched over with his hands behind his back. The light from his Patronus was gradually fading. He looked at the smoke-filled valley below, and a bead of cold sweat rolled down his forehead. "What a terrifying boy! Is this the power of the magic circle Dumbledore was talking about? The destructive power is far beyond most of the existing magic."

Grindelwald now truly understood why Dumbledore was so concerned about Victor Dreyar. With the power of the magic circle, Victor could simply wave his hand and wipe out a large city. He was an apocalyptic being.

At the same time, the Austrian seismological bureau was in chaos. The monitors on duty suddenly saw a series of waves on their screens, which meant that the instruments they had placed outside had detected a strong seismic wave.

This wasn't a big deal, as Austria wasn't in a major earthquake zone, but small earthquakes still occurred from time to time.

So, as per routine, the staff member called the location where the earthquake was detected to check on the situation and record it. But to his surprise, the people there said they didn't feel any tremors and didn't see any signs of an earthquake: no loud noises, no dizziness, no falling rocks, etc.

This was completely illogical. He called to confirm several times, but the locals still insisted that nothing had happened.

Just as the staff member was about to conclude that the instrument was malfunctioning, he received an urgent message from neighboring countries like the French and Italians, asking for an explanation for the sudden use of a powerful military weapon in Austria.

This confused everyone. It wasn't an earthquake, so why was it a military weapon?

After investigating, they found that it wasn't an earthquake after all. The waveforms of an earthquake and a shockwave were different, and the staff at the Austrian seismological bureau were inexperienced and couldn't tell the difference.

As a result, when it was revealed that this was not a natural disaster, the entire region of Southern Europe was in a state of panic.

Where did such a powerful explosion come from? The big beast next door had just disintegrated, and it was a time of chaos. They didn't want the big bear to rise from his grave and drag other little animals into a war!

While the small animals were running around in panic, in the valley of Nurmengard, the thick smoke and dust still hadn't dispersed. Although the sound of rocks shattering had stopped, a dull rumbling still echoed through the valley. It was the sound of a distant mountain collapsing.

Just then, a blue light flashed through the smoke. A hurricane erupted, instantly clearing away all the dust.

Victor looked at the mess before him.

The meteor shower had been so widespread that the entire valley was unrecognizable. Numerous landslides and mudslides of various sizes were mixed together, burying most of the land.

'Did I overdo it?' Victor thought to himself. What if the old geezer couldn't handle the attack?

But just then, the ground began to tremble, immediately extinguishing that thought.

"Haha, again!" Victor said excitedly. He wasn't done yet!

A giant, tens of meters tall figure suddenly rose from the ground. Its presence shook the cliffs on both sides of the valley, causing rocks to slide down again.

"Hahahaha!" Grindelwald threw his head back and laughed, gloating. "Dumbledore is angry! He's angry at a child! Hahaha!"

He was right. Dumbledore was indeed angry. This boy said they were just having a friendly spar, but he was really trying to kill him! A meteor shower, really! He was actually trying to send an old man like him to meet Death!

So, Dumbledore got angry and began to use the most powerful Transfiguration in the world.

"Ares!" The giant figure was a golem made of rock, holding a shield and a spear, shaped like a Greek god of war. It took a massive step forward, and a spiderweb of cracks formed on the ground. It pulled back, leaning its body backward, and threw the spear with all its might.

BOOM!

A loud crack echoed through the air, and the spear reached Victor in an instant with incredible speed. Victor quickly dodged, and he heard a loud crash behind him. The spear was deeply embedded in the mountain wall farthest away. Most of the spear was buried in the rock and soil.

"Holy cow! That spear is even more powerful than the meteors!" Victor said with lingering fear, then turned to look at the god of war, Ares, who was constantly approaching him. He slammed his hands on the ground, and a green magic circle lit up.

"Nature Magic, World of Trees!"

RUMBLE...

Countless giant vines sprouted from the ground, quickly forming a green tsunami.

Ares and the sea of trees collided, and a loud crash echoed in the valley again. The puddles of water around them became a stage for water droplets to jump, trembling non-stop. The sea of trees quickly squeezed Ares into pieces, but at that moment, Dumbledore's voice was heard again.

"Poseidon!"

As soon as he finished speaking, all the water in the valley, along with the mud and rocks, turned into the form of the Greek god of the sea. Then, the massive mudslide crushed the sea of trees with its weight and rushed towards the other side of the valley with an unstoppable force.

But in the next second, a giant, ice-blue magic circle spanning the entire valley unfolded. The intense cold instantly turned the mudslide, which was about to reach Victor, into a mixture of mud, water, and ice.

At the same time, the dust and smoke floating in the air from the intense battle were frozen into ice crystals. It began to snow black and gray in Nurmengard, creating a scene straight out of a disaster movie.

Victor looked up at the black and gray ice crystals slowly falling from the sky. A white magic circle lit up again. Hundreds of thousands of white lines appeared on the surface of the muddy ice mountain, and it cracked open, revealing a path.

"Professor, there's no point in continuing this. How about we end it with one last spell?" Victor suggested.

If they kept fighting, it didn't matter who won or lost. Nurmengard would most likely be leveled.

Dumbledore, realizing this, nodded helplessly and said, "I agree."

To be honest, he didn't want to fight anymore. He was almost 110 years old and was not suitable for such strenuous activity.

In the next moment, Victor finally pulled out his wand, and both of them began to cast their final spell for the duel.

"Ultimate Expecto Patronum!"

"Fiendfyre!"

BOOOM!!!!

The silvery-white phoenix and the purplish-blue fire dragon collided, creating a dazzling light.

A moment later, Victor and Dumbledore were back in the tower of Nurmengard.

Although the duel didn't have a clear winner, Grindelwald compared the state of the two of them and saw that Dumbledore was clearly in worse shape. He also noticed that Victor hadn't moved much throughout the duel, except to dodge Ares's spear.

But after all, this wasn't a duel to the death, and the level of their fight was already mind-blowing. The three of them didn't say anything and just sat on the mountaintop, watching the sunset.

"Professor Dumbledore," Victor said, "I have a question that's really bothering me. With your power, why couldn't you have just captured Voldemort back then?"

As Victor was speaking, he Transfigured a table out of thin air. He then took out a thermos and three cups, poured three cups of milk tea, and brought out a roasted pork knuckle and some roasted Acromantula legs to share with them.
