MHGA Chapter 183 – Old Man, Your Stand Is the Most Useful!
In a dark corner of the Ripperdoc clinic where David had previously vanished, his figure suddenly reappeared—alongside three Hunters who had come to assist.
Seeing the familiar Night City setting before him, David couldn't help but get excited.
Gloria… David's mother was here, somewhere inside this clinic.
If not for Kairo Retsu's sheer size, David might never have realized this place was a ripperdoc facility.
"Hey! Who the hell are you people?!"
A short man dressed like a doctor caught sight of the group—and noticed the massive weapons they carried. His wariness instantly spiked.
He tossed away his clipboard and pulled a handgun from under his coat, pointing it directly at them.
"You sons of—" The sight of the gun made David's eyes blaze red with fury.
Back at the Gathering Hub, Gloria had just been wheeled into surgery…
Now this doctor was ready to shoot without a word? What kind of place was this?
But just as the man prepared to pull the trigger, Himmel was the first to move.
The gunshot and the clash of metal rang out nearly simultaneously—somehow, Himmel was already beside the man, and had knocked him unconscious with a blow from his Sword & Shield's shield.
The man's face let out a metallic clang—likely due to some cyberware.
"Nice work, Himmel!" Kairo cheered, dragging David by the arm. "Quick! Where's the OR?!"
"This way!"
David, seething after the doctor's reaction, kicked open the operating room door—only to find nothing inside.
Just two armed goons. No surgery in progress. No sign of his mother.
"Who the hell—?!"
Before either of them could react, Kairo and Joseph Joestar each decked one with perfect timing. Both fell unconscious.
"My mom was wheeled into this room!" David's eyes were blazing red. "Where the hell did they take her?!"
"Should we split up and search?" Joseph asked, concerned.
"No need!" Kairo shook his head. "We've got a better way!"
He grabbed one of the unconscious scavvers and dragged him toward Joseph. "JoJo! Use your Stand! Hack him for me!"
"You're our Gathering Hall's best hacker!" Kairo said, eyes shining with manic confidence.
"Huh?" Joseph blinked. "Oi! My Stand just smashes cameras!"
"Cut the crap! Your Stand's done more than that!" Kairo snapped. "TVs, game consoles—you've hacked them all with Hermit Purple! You even flew a damn plane in the future with it! (Though yeah… that ended in a crash…)"
"In Night City, your Stand's straight-up a bug exploit! Just think of this guy as a camera—smash him!"
Kairo raised the cyber-loaded scavver like a prize. "This guy's got more cyberware than any camera I've seen! Just whack him already!"
"Fine! I'll give it a shot!"
Joseph gritted his teeth and summoned Hermit Purple to his hand. He punched the scavver's head, and—
Hermit Purple sank into the man's skull, linking to the cyberware inside.
What shocked Joseph most was that… it worked.
Even more surprising, the divination ability he'd never managed to use before—also worked through the scavver.
"Where's David's mom?!" Joseph focused on the question.
And as if in response, the scavver abruptly stood at attention in Kairo's hands.
"Wait—he's not even unconscious?!" Kairo was about to punch him again, but Joseph waved him off.
"Hold on—this is weird. I think my Stand's divination worked, but differently than expected…"
From Joseph's view, Hermit Purple was now linked directly to the scavver's cybernetics. Still unconscious, the scavver shuffled to the side, opened a locked elevator with a key, and—
"I told you! You're Night City's best damn hacker!" Kairo gave a huge thumbs-up. "Old man! Your Stand's the most useful of all!"
"I'm nineteen!!!" Joseph shouted back. "And why the hell does Hermit Purple work on cyberware?! Was this how it was always supposed to work?!"
"Who cares how it works! Just move!" Kairo barked, rushing into the elevator. "Let's go, time's ticking!"
Guided by Joseph's Stand's "divination… of a man," David and the Hunters quickly reached another operating room, one that reeked of rot and decay.
Just the smell alone made David boil with rage.
"Mom!"
He rammed open the door. Inside, several operating tables held mangled human corpses.
Two of the bodies… had been completely stripped of their cyberware, left as hacked-up piles of flesh and bone.
One ripperdoc was mid-surgery—holding a scalpel in one hand, a cyber-eye in the other.
David instantly recognized the woman being operated on—his mother, Gloria.
Seeing her face—now missing an eye—something in David snapped.
With a roar, he launched himself at the ripperdoc, grabbed him by the throat, and began to choke him out—so angry, he didn't even bother to draw his weapon.
"Die!!" David snarled, his grip tightening.
The ripperdoc panicked. No way someone had found them down here—but he still tried to fight back, stabbing David in the stomach with the scalpel.
It didn't work.
David didn't flinch. If anything, he squeezed tighter.
"JoJo! Heal her!" Kairo shouted. "Himmel! Watch the perimeter!"
"David! Let him go! You're not thinking straight!" Kairo reached out and grabbed David's shoulder.
"He was cutting out Gloria's implants! Let me finish—!"
"I know that!!"
Kairo yanked David off and slammed a boot into the ripperdoc's head. The man went limp.
He locked eyes with David.
"Your head's not right right now."
"Which is why—this part's mine."
