MHGA Chapter 181 – Wake Up! Let's Set Night City on Fire!
"You're awake, nya!"
As David sat on the bed, muttering to himself, a butler Felyne walked in cheerfully from outside the room.
"We were worried, nya! You didn't eat anything after arriving at the Gathering Hub, and even looked like you were having a painful time while sleeping, nya!"
"I…" David opened his mouth to respond—only for his stomach to suddenly roar with hunger.
He hadn't eaten anything since the car crash… until now.
"Granny Felyne left a meal for you, Hunter-nya!" the butler Felyne said warmly. "She specially prepared it just for you! Shall I bring it up now?"
"Th-thank you…" David still found it incredible.
He had never seen a talking cat in his life.
The butler Felyne soon returned, carrying a massive platter and setting it in front of David.
As the lid was lifted, the sight of the gigantic Felyne Meal nearly made David jump in shock.
"This much…? There's no way I can finish it…"
"You can, nya! All Hunters can!" the Felyne said seriously.
"Because Hunters need to eat lots of nutritious food to have the strength to go on hunts, nya!"
"…I'll try."
Still doubtful, David picked up a chunk of… something-meat, heavily coated in cheese, and put it into his mouth.
The moment it touched his tongue, David stopped worrying about whether he could finish the meal—
Instead, he wondered if he could somehow get more.
By the time the plate was empty, David realized he had just devoured enough food to cover several meals—
And he didn't even feel bloated.
"Hunter's injuries are healed, nya!"
The butler Felyne said as he cleaned the plates. "Looks like Granny Felyne's special cooking worked its magic, nya!"
"It really did…" David examined his body—
The bruises and scrapes from the crash had completely vanished.
"Did she add some kind of healing ingredients into the food? That was so thoughtful…"
"No no, nya," the butler Felyne corrected David.
"Granny removed any ingredients with strong healing properties—otherwise, your mechanical implants would've been pushed out by your body, nya."
The Felynes didn't want to see David suddenly eject his cyber-eyes, organs, or other parts after eating.
This particular Felyne Meal was just right—healing minor wounds and nothing more.
"…Where's the Guildmaster?"
Having finished eating, David finally remembered what he came here to do.
"I need to talk to him."
"The Guildmaster is at the training arena with Hunter Joseph and Hunter Himmel," said the butler Felyne.
"Shall I guide you there, nya?"
"Please!"
David followed behind the Felyne in a hurry, arriving at the arena—
Just in time to see Joseph wielding Dual Blades and Kairo Retsu wielding a Sword & Shield, both engaging a blue-haired youth armed with a single-handed sword.
Just as their massive weapons were about to land, the youth calmly caught both of their attacks—
And even helped adjust their stances mid-swing.
"Joseph's not bad, but you, Guildmaster…" Himmel offered pointed critique.
"You need a lot more practical training. For now, just work on linking your moves smoothly."
"Try something like doing ten 1-star Arena Quests in a single day."
He clapped Kairo on the shoulder.
"I haven't even been a Hunter for that long…"
Kairo groaned, dragging his Sword & Shield—
Only to spot David approaching alongside the Felyne.
"Hm? David, you're up?"
"Great timing! Come try some weapons—see what suits you—"
But before Kairo could finish, David rushed up and grabbed his arm.
"Guildmaster!"
David's face was full of resolve and desperation.
"Please help me! If it's determination you need—I've got more than enough! I don't want any of that to happen again!"
"!"
Kairo studied David's face.
The boy who had arrived at the Gathering Hub in pain and despair—
Was now radiating renewed fire.
"…Let me ask just one thing." Kairo's voice was calm. "David, how much are you prepared to change?"
"Everything!"
David's eyes blazed.
"Save my mom! Help Lucy! Save all those friends from that future! And last—destroy that bastard Adam Smasher!
And change this rotten Night City itself!!"
"I'm ready to do whatever it takes!!"
"Alright then! Let's do this!!"
Kairo slapped David on the shoulder.
"Let's set Night City on fire, together!"
Kairo smiled, proud of the reborn David before him.
"Time to make you Night City's legendary David!"
"I've been waiting all day to hear those words!!"
Kairo's own eyes lit with excitement.
"I've hated Night City from the start!"
"Now then!"
With a grin, Kairo turned to David.
"First—go with the Felynes and pick out your weapon. I'll get things ready. We're gonna—"
"Save your mom first!!!"
"Just us?"
Joseph glanced at the ready team while gripping his Dual Blades, sounding uncertain.
"David's just become a Hunter—it's not ideal for battle. So just me and you, Guildmaster? Shouldn't we wait for more people?"
"We can't exactly expect David to calm down unless we rescue his mom first, right?"
Kairo held his Sword & Shield, helpless expression on his face.
"Besides, who said it's just us?"
"I-I-I'm ready!!"
David stammered, his teeth chattering from nerves.
Sure, Kairo did say that the Felyne Carts could bring you back even if you died—
But David was still nervous.
Just yesterday, he was an ordinary Night City student. At most, he dabbled in selling braindances.
Now he was charging into Scav turf wielding a massive Great Sword he didn't even know how to use—
All to rescue his mother…
"Don't worry. I'm going too."
A reassuring voice came from behind.
Himmel had arrived—
Holding a pair of Sword & Shields, adjusting his newly equipped gear.
"As a fellow new Hunter, let me contribute as well," said Himmel.
"As a Hero, I can't just sit back and do nothing."
