Katrina was getting ready for school when she got a call from Kendin. It was the last day of orientation and they were to register for the modules required for their courses. She'd be studying Psychology and she found out that Kendin on the other hand will be studying to be a Business Administrator. The last week they spent learning about the school and each other and they became really close friends. Kendin is also from a family of five, but unlike Katrina, he's the second child in the family of three sons and very strict Christian parents who accepted his sexuality with difficulty.
"What you doing? Are you ready to go? I need your favor," Kendin said as soon as Katrina answered the call.
"Whoah! Slow down Mr. What's up? I'm having breakfast, almost ready to go." Katrina replied.
"Sorry. I'm just really excited! Since today's the last the of orientation, they're having a freshmen party at Jason's later today and every…."
"NO! Din! I told you I don't do parties. I'm not gonna start now. This is a hard pass for me." Katrina said, cutting him off.
"You didn't even wait to hear what favor I'm asking for. Please, hear me out. Please." Kendin pleaded over the phone.
"Isn't it obvious what you want though? Everyone's invited so Kevin might be there. And you're hoping he's gonna be there. So, you want us both to go there in hopes that you might meet your soulmate" Katrina said with an eye roll.
"You know me so well." Sulked Kendin, "But you forgot to mention that the mysterious guy might be there too." Kendin continued with a grin on his face knowing that he got her.
"Fuck!" Katrina cursed. "You'll tell me more about this party when we get to school." Katrina cut the call before Kendin could say anything. She didn't want to hear his mocking laughter. She's had a thing for this mysterious guy since they bumped into each other in the school cafeteria.
FLASHBACK
With trays of food in their hands, Katrina and Kendin were walking besides each other when Kendin suddenly screamed.
"Bitch what the fuck!? You trying to make me deaf?"
"Sorry. I just got a request from my high school ex! The guts of this guy to try and get in contact with me after what he did!" Kendin said angrily.
"Which one?" Katrina inquired. "I hope it's not the fucking cunt who denied you in front of his friends and humiliated you because of his fear of coming out."
"It's him"
"Are you going to accept that request?" Katrin looked at Kendin straight in the eyes and with a smug expression, Kendin accepted the request.
"I'm going to make that sucker regret messing with me,"
"You're bad." Katrina laughed and playfully hit Kendin.
"Oh well." Kendin shrugged.
Katrina was just laughing when she felt her head hit a stiff chest. She could've mistaken it for a wall if it weren't for the deep low voice she heard after that.
"Move."
Looking up, she found dark blue eyes starring daggers into her. The guy in front of her raised his right arm and pushed her out of his way and left without looking back.
"So rude!" Kendin said when he saw Katrina looking at his back without blinking.
"Kat!" He called and gave her a little shake. "Don't tell me you just fell for that rude thing."
"What!? Love at first sight only exists in novels and movies." She replied.
"This, my friend is love at first bump." Kendin said and they both laughed.
END OF FLASHBACK
Katrina and Kendin walked into Jason's apartment and looked around. Kendin couldn't hide how excited he was as he squeezed Katrina's hand.
"We're here!" He screamed.
The apartment was bursting with students and loud music. Katrina looked around for any sign of the mysterious guy. She refused to believe that she had a crush on that guy but she couldn't stop thinking about him.
"Don't worry kat. You're gonna see your first love tonight. First, let's have some fun!" Kendin said when he saw Katrina looking around.
"Whatever makes you think I'm looking for someone." Katrina rolled her eyes and pulled the laughing Kendin with her to get drinks.
The two took plastic cups and while Katrina chose a non-alcoholic drink, Kendin made sure that he took the most alcoholic drink on the table, leaving Katrina speechless.
"Bottoms up!" Kendin exclaimed and before Katrina could process anything, he downed everything in that class and made a sour expression. He put the glass on the table and tried to pull her to the dance floor.
"Bitch lets dance!" Kendin said, loud enough for Katrina to hear him.
"You go ahead. I'll just go to the bathroom."
"Suit yourself." Kendin said swayed to the dance floor.
Katrina laughed and walked over to the balcony. Looking over the city, she wondered what her best friend could be doing at her new school. Abigail Banks. She was never a shy girl but she wasn't a party girl either. She thought about what her parents and her best friend would say when they found out that she came to a party to see a guy. The smell of cigars pulled out of her thoughts and she looked around for where the smell might be coming from.
Seeing smoke emit from a corner of the balcony, she slowly approached the tall figure standing there with a can .
After attending back to back meetings with the head of department and a few of her colleages, Tiana decided to head to an off campus resturant to get something to eat. She doesn't usually eat out but she was too tired to cook so instead of using this time to go to her favourite coffee shop as she usually would, she took a cab to the resturent.
As she waited for her food, she suddenly remembered Kelly. They had been bestfriens for years until a little over a year ago when she got the job offers from four different Universities and a College.
