Chapter 14 - Chapter 7: The Aftermath & Next Moves V

Scene 5: Silent Goodbyes and Blossoming Plots

Han Yue woke up at dawn, refreshed and composed. She changed into a soft cream-colored dress, tied her hair in a neat ponytail, and headed down to eat breakfast with the Han family.

The table was filled with the usual spread: congee, boiled eggs, pickled vegetables, and fresh fruit. Everyone was seated when she arrived.

Han Jiaojiao was all smiles this morning, dressed in sweet pastel tones. "Good morning, sister!" she greeted with sugary warmth, passing Han Yue a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. "Are you feeling better today? I hope you'll consider making a post to help clear up yesterday's misunderstanding. It's all gotten so messy online…"

Han Yue accepted the juice with a serene smile. "Of course, sister. I'll do my best."

Her tone was gentle, her expression guileless—exactly what everyone wanted to see.

The breakfast passed without drama. After excusing herself, Han Yue returned to her room, locked the door, and immediately opened her laptop. She checked her inbox.

🔔 One new message.

A reply from the buyer she had contacted the day before regarding her shares.

"We received your message. Given your identity, forgive us for asking, but how do we know this isn't a trap set up by the Han family?"

Han Yue sneered faintly. She'd expected skepticism.

She typed calmly:

"I understand your concern. I am not on good terms with the Han family. My father is currently coercing me to transfer my shares to him 'for safekeeping.' I'm scared they'll kick me out once I lose my value. I want to sell them in secret before that happens.

Please keep this confidential. Do not announce or register any movement for at least a week.

I want to sell my 10% shares for market price: 2 billion yuan.

I require 1.2 billion to be wired into a private bank account, and the remaining 800 million to be in physical cash. Delivery instructions will follow."

After sending the message, she leaned back in her chair, eyes dark with amusement.

"This entire mansion is full of fakes," she thought coldly. "They think I don't notice how they've been acting toward me—pretending to care only when people are watching, staying silent when I was humiliated, and even expecting me to speak up for the one who bullied me."

Her eyes narrowed.

"Just wait. I'll ransack this mansion within the week. Let's see if any of you can still sleep soundly at night."

She opened a new folder and made a detailed checklist of items she wanted to buy—everything from dried food, farming supplies, weapons, medicine, solar panels, batteries, to tactical gear. She also began scouting small warehouse spaces on rental websites. One caught her eye—cheap, discreet, and just walking distance from a local motel.

Perfect.

Just as she was about to switch tabs, her phone buzzed with a WeChat notification.

📲 [New Friend Accepted: Long Yi]

Han Yue's heart skipped.

"He actually added me back…"

In her previous life, she hadn't interacted with Long Yi until school started. He was two years older—eighteen, like her brother Han Jun—and she had always assumed Zhou Rui was the one who saved her at the banquet.

But now… she had her suspicions.

"Why did he help me that day? Why speak up for me, yet never confirm it was him? Did he think I didn't recognize his voice?"

She wanted to talk to him soon—just the two of them. But for now, she typed a casual message:

"Thank you for the gift. Did you enjoy the party? I didn't get to see you that day."

Phone still in hand, she entered the space.

Inside, the air was crisp and clean. She stepped into the forest clearing—only to be greeted by her tiny white rabbit hopping happily toward her.

"Awwww," she gasped, scooping the fluffball into her arms.

The bunny wiggled its nose, then licked her chin.

She nuzzled it, pressing a kiss to its soft ears. "You're getting stronger, huh? My little space guardian."

She walked toward the black soil and gasped. The vegetables she had planted just yesterday were already sprouting. The soil was clearly full of spiritual energy.

Even more shocking: the apple seeds had sprouted too.

"So fast?" she murmured. "At this rate, I'll have an orchard in no time."

Excited, she mentally added new items to her shopping list: more seeds, fruit saplings, medicinal herbs, and rare flora.

When she finally exited the space, it was almost noon.

Downstairs, lunch was served. After the meal, Madam Lin presented her with a slim box wrapped in a ribbon.

"The newest iPhone," her mother said warmly. "Light pink—your favorite."

Han Yue's eyes sparkled. "Thank you, Mom!"

Madam Lin smiled. "Let's help you make your statement video after lunch, alright? Your sister still needs your help."

Han Yue nodded like an obedient child.

Jiaojiao took the initiative and set up temporary accounts on Weibo, TikTok, and Twitter for her. She even gave her a quick tutorial on how to record and upload a video.

Back in her room, Han Yue positioned her phone camera and hit record.

She wore a light pink top, tied her hair in gentle curls, and gave the camera a wide-eyed, innocent smile.

"Hi everyone. I'm Han Yue. I just want to say that my sister Jiaojiao didn't do anything bad… She didn't glare at me, or talk behind my back, or plot with our younger cousin to spill red juice on me. None of that happened. She's really nice and didn't instigate anyone at all…"

She listed every single thing Jiaojiao had done, disguising it as denial, each line more absurd than the last.

She ended with a clueless blink. "So I hope everyone can stop blaming her. Thank you!"

She uploaded it immediately.

And at the center of it all was Han Yue—appearing too pure to lie, yet somehow unraveling an entire house of cards with a smile.

Han Yue chuckled quietly and closed the apps.

She checked her WeChat again. A new message awaited her.

Long Yi:

"You're welcome. I hope you liked the gift.

I didn't get the chance to greet you during the party.

Let's go out sometime. My treat."

Her eyes widened. Her heart fluttered.

"Did he just… invite me out?"

She didn't reply immediately. She needed to think.

But deep inside, a seed had been planted—and unlike the rest of her family's fake smiles and empty gestures, this one felt real.
