Chapter 16 - Dragon Prison

Jin's eyes slowly open, his eyesight a blur slowly coming into focus, his memory hazy.

Jin's sight focuses in. Finding himself in some kind of cell.

What happened? I'm in prison?

Jin notices blood on the ground. When he gets a sharp pain all through him.

"DAMMIT! Did they beat me when I was out or something!?"

Jin attempts to stand before collapsing back to the ground quickly.

"Damn, they made sure I couldn't do much."

Jin grabs onto the bars in front of him, pulling himself up to stand.

"Alright, that's better."

Jin looks up and sees a guard standing near him.

"Hey, kid! Can you bring me a cloth?"

The guard walks over, offering his hand with a white cloth.

Jin grabs his arm. His entire demeanor changes in an instant as his body powers through any pain he's enduring.

"I got someone I need to save, I think I'll need to get out of here!"

Jin's grip tightens, and he instantly yanks the guard toward him as hard as he can.

The guard slams into the bars, instantly falling unconscious.

"Look at that, I still got it in me."

Jin bends down, reaching through the bar, and grabs the keys from the man.

The door's lock falls to the ground with a clunk. Jin swings the door open and picks up the guard's sword.

Jin walks into the nearby alleyway and moves towards a door with beaming sunlight.

Jin opens the door. The air smells of iron and incense. Streets were polished with white stone, and the sun hit everything like a judgment.

The castle and kingdom surrounding it are riddled with silver-haired men, women, and children.

Jin walks out into this city some people stop and stare. Many of them even exclaim how they recognize who he is.

Jin is standing in the middle of a square of people when suddenly a small group of guards notices him and instantly yell at him.

"Hey! That's the boy from the wall!"

Jin instantly turns and makes a dead sprint through a crowd of people. Jin looks over, noticing the giant white castle in the center of the kingdom.

If they have her anywhere, it'll be there for sure.

Jin turns down a small alleyway and begins climbing a ladder.

One of the guards grabs onto Jin's leg and attempts to pull him down. Jin lets go of the ladder and falls directly onto the guard and pulls his blade, stabbing another.

"You don't wanna do this, boy!" Yells the final guard in the alley.

He slammed the final guard into the wall. The man groaned, dazed.

Jin looked him in the eye, then drove the blade into his chest.

"I warned you."

Jin jumps onto the ladder and climbs to the top.

From there, Jin can see everything below the castle. Jin immediately makes a run for a line of buildings leading towards the castle.

A group of guards notices him below and begins chasing after him from the ground.

Dammit, what could I have done to be imprisoned?

Jin leaps onto another building complex, crossing over a big street, and many of the guards attempt to climb the buildings now.

Jin continues to run, jumping onto another building and running towards the castle.

Jin jumps to another building, looking back at all the guards.

Jin slows to a stop, staring at all the guards who are now lining up, refusing to take another step.

Jin turns his head back, a huge man in black robes standing before him.

"What the Fu-"

"I am Fushu, the highest lieutenant of the Dragon Army."

"What the hell do you guys want with me!?"

"Isn't that obvious? You're wanted for trespassing as a traitor!"

"Traitor? I've never even been here."

"Go ahead and play dumb, we have orders to kill you."

Jin grips the blade he took earlier.

"If you think I'm going down, you've got another thing coming."

"What a cocky little shit!"

Fushu yells something in a language Jin doesn't know.

A shimmering black aura pulsed around him like scales forming from pure energy, before shattering as he lunged forward.

Fushu swings out a huge axe towards Jin. In an instant, Jin ducks under the axe and lunges with the blade he collected.

Jin's blade was at his throat. One more push and it would've been over.

But he stopped.

Breathing hard.

"No... not again."

"Why are you showing the enemy mercy?"

"Because a good man I once knew would've done the same, and I want to be like him," Jin says, making a smirk.

Suddenly, the apparition of Mori reappears.

"Jin, that woman is in the middle of the thrown room. Her father is going to be there any minute."

"You know a way there?"

"Look up, idiot."

Jin hesitates, not sure if this is some trick or if it was his brother.

"You don't have to follow what I saw; you can run to the front and get killed."

Jin looks up, spotting a balcony a good way up.

"The balcony?"

"Bingo!"

Jin runs over and jumps onto a ledge, climbing window seal to window seal.

Thank you, Mori, you are a hero.

As Jin climbs higher and higher, the wind begins to jostle him around and even attempts to throw him off.

Jin clung to the ledge, his fingers numb, the wind howling like ghosts.

"I won't give up on her," he growled. "Not now. Not again."
