Chapter 23 - Chapter 23

As Obito's cold voice echoed, a colossal vortex of distorted space-time suddenly erupted within the towering geysers of water. The massive water columns—formed from the underground veins—were abruptly drawn toward the center of the vortex, vanishing without a trace…

At the heart of the vortex, a form emerged—Susanoo, the Crow Tengu.

But unlike the form he used to intimidate Danzo, this Susanoo now held a sacred object—an ethereal mirror-like shield in one hand.

—Susanoo Sacred Relic: Kyuta Divine Mirror!

It radiated overwhelming divine energy—capable of transferring not just jutsu, but all matter and phenomena into distorted space-time!

A mere underground water vein? It had swallowed them whole like nothing.

In the original timeline, the chakra Obito gave Kakashi at his death allowed the latter to activate the Complete Body Susanoo for a brief moment—but Kakashi never had time to unlock the true potential of its sacred weapons.

But this Obito—reborn through transmigration from Yamato Arata—possessed both of Kamui's dual powers permanently. With time on his side, he had fully developed them.

"Impossible!" gasped Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage, his voice shaking with disbelief. "That water technique harnesses the full force of the underground veins—strong enough to suppress a tailed beast! How could he possibly neutralize it!? Impossible!! Absolutely impossible!!"

The formerly arrogant Yagura was now visibly panicked.

From within Susanoo, Obito's deep voice rang out:"Yagura, don't underestimate the Uchiha's eyes."

Yes—Susanoo alone rivaled the power of the tailed beasts. But a Susanoo armed with divine relics? It was far more terrifying.

"Damn you!!" Yagura's face twisted with fury. He dipped his hand into his own blood and quickly formed seals: Boar → Dog → Monkey → Ram → Tiger!

Summoning Jutsu: Infinite Leech!

Bang! With a burst of smoke, a colossal leech emerged, its grotesque body undulating, its mouth open wide.

"Let's see how you handle this! Melt into blood!!" Yagura bellowed.

Lava Release: Melting Beast Art!

The enormous leech reared back and unleashed a torrential acid waterfall—blistering, corrosive sludge poured down onto Susanoo.

"It's useless…" Obito muttered, his expression calm. The Kyuta Divine Mirror in Susanoo's hand spun, emitting a space-time vortex that devoured the incoming acid completely.

Then—Obito raised his head. His kaleidoscope Sharingan locked onto the leech's bloated, dripping skull.

From Susanoo's other hand, a jet-black magatama formed and launched forward like a meteor.

Susanoo Sacred Relic: Kyuta Kamui Magatama!

Whoosh!

The leech recoiled, its slick body writhing and retreating fast...

But the magatama turned in midair and followed.

The Kyuta Kamui Magatama locked onto the target marked by Obito's gaze. It would pursue it endlessly until contact was made.

"Damn it!" Yagura growled. Knowing it couldn't be outrun, he quickly formed seals and forcefully overused his remaining chakra.

Water Release: Water Dragon's Bite!

A massive water dragon surged skyward, jaws wide, trying to intercept the magatama—

—but the magatama phased through its gaping mouth without resistance.

"What!?" Yagura's pupils shrank in horror.

The terrifying feature of the Kyuta Kamui Magatama wasn't just its tracking—it could phase through anything that wasn't its intended target, meaning no interception was possible. The moment it was thrown... the end was inevitable.

BOOM!

The magatama struck the Infinite Leech's head, exploding with a space-time distortion even more violent than Kamui's shuriken form.

"SCREEEEE!!!"

With a bloodcurdling scream, the leech's entire head vanished, its body crumpling to the ground, disintegrating into a pool of gore.

From afar, Zetsu—disguised as Tobi—muttered to himself, "After this battle, Obito's strength has clearly taken another leap…"

"Next is you... Yagura Karatachi." From within Susanoo, Obito's kaleidoscope Sharingan locked again on the now-terrified Mizukage. He prepared to launch a second Kamui Magatama to finish him.

But—

"Ugh!!"

A sudden wave of searing pain wracked Obito's head. He clutched his eyes.

Boom!! The Crow Tengu Susanoo collapsed into nothing. Obito's kaleidoscope eyes reverted back to their original state, and blood ran in twin streams down his face.

"Damn… I didn't expect using Susanoo's divine relics would consume so much chakra and ocular power… even with Hashirama cells, I couldn't maintain it…"

"Huh!?" Yagura noticed and immediately sprang up.

But he barely had any chakra left—certainly not enough to launch long-range ninjutsu. He could only use one final move:

Water Release: Wave-Riding Strike!

His body skated low across the water at high speed—an acceleration technique—closing the distance rapidly.

Then, he swung his staff straight at Obito's head!

But—

"What?!"

The weapon passed through Obito harmlessly.

Kamui's intangibility was a passive defense. Whether Obito had chakra or not, whether he activated the Sharingan or not—it would trigger automatically when attacked, unless he deactivated it by choice.

"Yagura, I may be weakened... but that doesn't mean you're strong," Obito said coldly as the kaleidoscope reignited in his left eye.

His right arm surged with black lightning, infused with Kamui's space-time energy.

Kamui Raikiri!

Yagura raised his staff to block—

CLANG!

The collision warped space itself. Realizing the danger, Yagura let go of the staff, but he was too late.

CRACK!!

"AAARGH!!"

His left arm was torn off—sucked into the vortex of Kamui's distortion.

Clutching his bleeding stump, Yagura staggered backward in agony.

Obito locked his left eye once more onto Yagura's head—ready to twist it into oblivion.

But—

Dozens of kunai wrapped with explosive tags came flying in from every direction.

Helpless, Obito canceled his Kamui and phased out of physical space.

The kunai passed through him, landing around his feet.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!

A massive explosion engulfed the area in fire and smoke.

Moments later—

Yagura was pulled away by a group of Kirigakure ANBU who had finally arrived.

"Lord Yondaime! Are you alright!?"

Yagura didn't answer. His violet eyes glared hatefully at the smoldering battlefield.

"…We're retreating."

"What about the intruders?" one of the ANBU asked.

"It doesn't matter. Just move! Now!" he snapped—then fainted against the ANBU's shoulder.

"Get the Fourth Mizukage back to the village—immediately!!"

The squad withdrew in a flash, taking their wounded leader with them.

As the smoke from the explosion cleared...

"If you think you're getting away that easily… huh?" Obito turned to chase—but then paused.

Standing on a distant mountain peak was a boy in a sky-blue robe, red chakra swirling around him. Behind him flickered the burning silhouette of Six Tails.

A warning.

"Oh… the Six-Tails Jinchūriki," Obito murmured. "Fine."

He lowered his hand. With Kamui active, he could chase and destroy them all—but doing so would bring the wrath of the entire Hidden Mist Village. And if Mizukage Yagura were killed here, the entire Land of Water would declare war.

Obito could escape unscathed—but his true goal lay elsewhere. He couldn't afford unnecessary delays.

His mission wasn't the Seven Ninja Swordsmen. It wasn't Yagura. And it wasn't the Six-Tails Jinchūriki. It was the Eight-Tails of Kumogakure, in the Land of Lightning.

Whoosh!

A vortex of Kamui appeared beside Zetsu and Maoyue Sunset.

Obito reemerged, exhausted.

"That took more out of you than expected," Zetsu remarked.

Obito shook his head. "No helping it. Water Release techniques are terrain-dependent. When you control a battlefield filled with natural water like this... it's hard to dominate."

Yes—Yagura's use of the underground water veins to fuel his Water Release meant this fight would never be easy.

Suddenly, Obito staggered, vision swimming. Zetsu moved to catch him—but Obito waved him off.

"You alright?" Zetsu asked.

"I'm fine. Just need a short rest... Then we're leaving the Land of Water immediately," Obito said.

Behind him, Maoyue Sunset watched quietly as Obito walked past.

So… he really is just human. Flesh and blood… after all.
