Chapter 8 – The wrath of the Gods Part 2
After Nathan and the girls entered the audience room there was an awkward silence. A knight was on his knees next to two other knights standing by his side probably to be keeping him there.
Nathan walked towards the throne sat at the back of the room and bowed. "Hello your majesty I am Nathan Garner a priest in service to Athena, however on my way here I found some corrupt influences which are bringing shame to Athena's name." While Looking seriously at the queen Nathan continues. "A knight attempted to get a girl violated and his cronies attempted to use his influence to get out of it. Is this how the holy kingdom is run? In the future, I plan to investigate how much of this corruption is in the kingdom and deal with it accordingly."
When the queen saw Nathans and the girl's faces she franticly nodded in agreement. "Yes, yes I understand." Knowing they were on a task for the goddess she knows she couldn't oppose their choice without consequences.
"I will investigate this thoroughly also, and make sure the family is well compensated for this horrid crime." While glaring at the knight the queen Eliza stood up and walked towards the knight. "Sir Lawrence you will be sentenced to death and your family's wealth and assets will be given to this girl's family for your heinous crime. "
Sir Lawrence cried out in pain."Please my queen forgiiiiive eee…."
After Queen Eliza finished her sentence sir Lawrence was stabbed by the two knights beside him. Lying lifeless the former knight's face was that of pure terror. "Hopefully this will help solve the problems that bastard made!" With anger on her face, she turned to the little girl and put on a happy smile."Oh, where are my manners what is your name, little girl?" Standing in front of the girl Nathan had saved, Eliza asked in a comforting tone "Please tell me why he was targeting you."
As tears started to roll down her face she replies in a sobbing tone. "Mmm my nname iiss s s Sophie. T t they www anted mmmy ss sister ssso t t they ttthreatened her ttthroughhh mmmee." Noticing the girl has a pretty bad speech impairment the queen hugged her tightly and said it will be ok.
Nathan and Aura were surprised by how the queen treated the girl. Athena had watched over Eliza quite a bit so she knew that the queen was a kind person. That's why she was willing to allow Nathan to come to the fortress.
While some servants came in to clean up the mess, Eliza called in a maid to look after Sophie while ordering the two knights to look for sophie's sister to bring to the castle.
The queen stands up looking nervous and bows to Nathan and the girls in apologies. "I am very sorry for your visit to have ended up like this divine envoys. Please rest before we have dinner and we will discuss any of your further needs."
After Nathan and Aura began to leave, Athena stayed next to the queen and whispered in her ear. "If I find out any of your knights or their subordinates try to attack my Nathan again. You won't like what will happen." While letting a small amount of her divine aura leak so only Eliza could sense it, then leaving with Nathan.
Watching Nathan and the girls leave Eliza fell to her knees nearly wetting herself under the aura that was released.
While the maids lead Nathan, his girls, and Sophie to their rooms Nathan checked on Sophie to make sure she was fine. "Are you ok Sophie, I know it's been a hard time for you, but you should be ok now. If you want you can take one of the girls with you to your room."
Looking a bit nervous she asked in a timid voice. "Wwwhat aaaare yy yoou mi mmister? Yyyyou cannn't beeee human with thhhhe powwwer yyyou shhhhoweD eeeearlier." Nathan looked shocked when Sophie stated this. After thinking about it for a second he replied.
He crouched down and whispered in Sophie's ear. "I am human but I'm known as Athena's apostle. Couldn't you tell I'm important by how the queen reacted after I spoke condescendingly to her?" While giving Sophie a playful wink I walked on. Sophie sat there in shock for a second before following Nathan.

This chapter is a bit shorter but the next few chapters will be multipart and a bit larger than normal. Keep an eye out for some hints in some of the future side stories since I have hidden a few hints for Nathan's first big enemy. The next two side chapters will be Gaea's Divine Diary part 2&3.
