Facing Ron Weasley's eager gaze, Amostas smiled, not directly answering his question, but instead immediately steering the conversation back to the subject of the course.

"Defense Against the Dark Arts, I personally prefer to call it Danger Defense. This is a comprehensive, practical course. The spells, Transfiguration, Herbology, Potions, and even Care of Magical Creatures that you learn in this school can all be applied in this subject. To be able to skillfully deal with any incoming danger, you must possess three qualities: skills, methods, and courage!"

Getting a proper Defense Against the Dark Arts class was a rarity at Hogwarts. Even the young wizards who usually didn't love studying were now focused, listening to Professor Brain's lecture from the high platform.

However, only Hermione recorded every word Professor Brain said in her notebook.

At this moment, Amostas looked at Ron again and smiled,

"I won't teach you any powerful ancient magic, Mr. Weasley—"

As Ron's eyes filled with disappointment, Amostas spoke to everyone,

"And as for the reason... First, I'm not a Charms professor. Teaching Charms is Professor Flitwick's job, not mine.

Second, there was a time when I was indeed very obsessed with the power of ancient magic, but as my research deepened, I found that most ancient magic has completely vanished in the river of time. To find ancient magic with a complete offensive and defensive system would likely be impossible even if I spent my entire life force. Therefore, I myself am not proficient in 'authentic' ancient magic."

Amostas paced to the other side of the high platform, looking at Blaise Zabini, who had just wanted to learn powerful spells. "What I'm best at personally is optimizing and transforming spell models based on modern spells, so that the spell's power approaches that of ancient magic while also considering the difficulty of casting it."

Perhaps this topic was too profound. Most of the young wizards looked bewildered, seemingly not understanding at all.

Seeing this, Amostas pondered for a moment, preparing to give a demonstration. He pulled out his wand, and seeing this, the young wizards immediately perked up. This was their favorite part.

"Then." Amostas's gaze swept around. "Let me give a demonstration. Who can name a spell you are most proficient in!"

Buzz buzz—

The hall instantly erupted. The high-pitched discussions of the young wizards were like thousands of bees flapping their wings in dance.

"Leg-Locker Curse, Professor Brain, I'm good at that!"

Lavender Brown of Gryffindor eagerly raised her hand.

"Bat-Bogey Hex!" A pale-faced Ginny weakly raised her hand, but her voice was completely drowned out by the noisy crowd. Amostas didn't hear it at all.

"Professor Brain, I'll say one," Malfoy sneered at Harry, standing up and shouting loudly, "Tarantallegra!"

Crabbe and Goyle immediately burst into laughter, clutching their stomachs, while Harry, not to be outdone, stood up and glared at Malfoy, shouting that his own prowess in the Jelly-Legs Jinx was also quite good!

The young wizards eagerly spoke up, naming many spells like the Densaugeo, Hair-Loss Charm, Tongue-Tying Curse, and so on. Amostas tilted his head, listening for a while, his expression growing increasingly strange. Without exception, these spells touched upon his blind spots of knowledge.

"Wait!"

Amostas, with black lines on his face, loudly halted the young wizards' commotion. "Ahem, isn't anyone going to say a normal spell?!"

The young wizards exchanged glances and quieted down. Finally, Ron tremblingly raised his hand, "Ugh... the Levitation Charm, Professor Brain, I'm quite proficient with that!"

"Excellent, Mr. Weasley!"

Amostas, finally hearing a familiar spell, breathed a sigh of relief. He strode to Ron, looking at him encouragingly, "First, let everyone see your Levitation Charm, Mr. Weasley!"

Ron immediately blushed, mumbling something incoherently. Harry and Hermione both understood what Ron was worried about, and so, they scrambled to explain for him.

"Broken wand?" Amostas raised an eyebrow. "May I see it?"

When Ron pulled out his wand, which was held together with magic tape to prevent it from breaking in two, Malfoy immediately burst into loud laughter.

"Choose someone else, Professor Brain! Weasley's wand might kill everyone here!"

The young wizards from Slytherin burst into laughter, which undoubtedly put a great deal of pressure on Ron. His face and even his ears turned red, as if scalded by boiling water.

"I don't see what's so funny, Mr. Malfoy. Mocking others does not highlight your sense of humor."

Amostas turned his head to look at them. Although his tone was calm, the Slytherin students, bathed in his unperturbed gaze, were struck silent as if drenched in cold water on a winter day. Even Draco obediently closed his mouth and dared not say another word.

"Can you fix it, Professor Brain!"

Harry and Hermione both looked gratefully at Amostas, who was examining the broken wand. Ron asked expectantly.

Amostas didn't reply. He squatted down, placed Ron's wand on the ground, and a faint light flickered in his eyes.

"Restore to original!"

The broken wand on the ground immediately began to shake rapidly. A burst of dazzling red sparks erupted from the break, then it firmly re-bonded!

"You fixed it, Professor Brain!"

Ron's eyes widened, and he said loudly with awe, "I asked many people, and they all told me this wand was completely beyond repair!"

"Their assessment wasn't wrong, Mr. Weasley."

Amostas meticulously examined Ron's wand. After a while, he responded with a smile,

"Wands are very precise alchemical tools. Although I forcibly restored this wand to its original state with magic power, in reality, I still cannot resolve the internal damage. For now, you can barely use it, but I still recommend you replace it at Ollivanders during the summer holidays—"

Although Amostas said this, Ron still looked delighted.

"Wingardium Leviosa!"

The demonstration began. Although casting a spell under the gaze of so many people was something Ron had never experienced before, the encouragement from Professor Brain, Harry, and Hermione gave him considerable confidence.

After several tense attempts, Ron finally managed to control the feather transformed by Professor Brain, making it float unsteadily in mid-air.

"Very good, Mr. Weasley, a very successful Levitation Charm—"

Amostas clapped his hands and smiled, "Now, try injecting more magic power."

Many people looked surprised, because they remembered Professor Flitwick explicitly stating when teaching them this spell that they needed to control the output of magic power, otherwise—

Bang!

After a violent explosion, the feather exploded into a flurry of flying fluff that landed on a bewildered Ron's face.

"Excellent, Mr. Weasley, you have earned two points for Gryffindor—now, it's my turn to show you..."

Amostas first let Ron sit down. After calmly meeting the gaze of all the young wizards, he slowly raised his arm. With a low incantation, his wrist suddenly vibrated,

"Conready Leviosa!"

Clang!

The fragile, limp feather suddenly burst out with a clear, metallic clang, as if transforming into an indestructible sharp blade!

"Let me show you what my Levitation Charm can do—"

Amostas suddenly raised his arm high. A white light, like a cold bolt of lightning, shot out, instantly charging towards a large metal chandelier above the hall, weighing over a thousand catties and with an antique, exquisite design!

Whoosh!

They only heard a sudden fierce wind roar through the hall. The white light rapidly darted in and out of the chandelier's metal frame. Before anyone could react, it returned to Professor Brain's palm!

Buzz buzz clank!

"Professor, run! The lamp is falling!"

Hannah Abbott of Hufflepuff was the first to retract her horrified gaze. At her shrill warning, all the young wizards scattered outwards, still screaming in terror at Amostas as they fled!

"Heh heh—"

Amostas chuckled at the amusing scene before him. Before the metal frame, which held immense power, could smash him into a pulp, he unhurriedly waved his wand again. Thus, as if time had flowed backward, the large metal chandelier reassembled itself in mid-air and rehung itself from the hall's ceiling.

"Powerful spells are all around us, Mr. Zabini,"

Amostas walked with elegant steps to the edge of the high platform. He looked at Blaise Zabini, who was struggling desperately under Crabbe's weight, and smiled gently,

"Now, do you understand this principle?"
