Seraphina's POV
"What do you mean?" I asked, my voice sharp with disbelief.
The guard's expression remained impassive, professional. "Master has said that until he comes back, you aren't allowed to step out of the mansion."
I stared at him, the words slowly sinking in. My brother had trapped me here. This wasn't protection—this was imprisonment in disguise.
Anger flared hot in my chest. "You can't be serious. I'm not a prisoner!"
"Master's orders, miss," the second guard said, his tone apologetic but firm.
I wanted to argue, to push past them, to demand my freedom. But looking at their imposing figures and knowing there were likely more guards throughout the mansion, I realized fighting would be pointless.
I couldn't take on all of them. With a frustrated snort, I turned on my heel and marched back toward my room, my hands clenched into fists at my sides.
