Oh God.
What the hell was I saying?
My heart trembled as I watched his fingers pause on the keyboard. Slowly, he looked up at me, one eyebrow raised.
My face heated up instantly. "I mean—you're not handsome! You're just... good-looking. In an objective way. I wasn't praising you, I was simply stating a fact. Like saying the sky is blue. Or water is wet," I stammered, "It's just... factual observation. Not a compliment. Definitely not—"
"I know," he chuckled.
Was that amusement in his voice?
He removed his glasses and set them on the desk, a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth. "There's no need to get nervous. Do you need something?"
Nervous? Me? I wasn't nervous!
Okay, I was totally nervous.
I nodded, trying to gather my scattered brain cells. "Yes, actually. I need a phone. And my ID. You said you'd—"
