REAWAKENING: PRIMORDIAL DRAGON WITH LIMITLESS MANAC54: Reunion

Chapter 54: Reunion

"You don't have to do this every time, you know," Hades muttered with a grunt, glancing down at his hand as the girl healed him.

Kneeling beside him was a black-haired girl named Luna, dressed in worn-out clothes—stitched together from mismatched scraps, frayed at the edges. She looked like a ghost from a forgotten corner of the world, but her presence was anything but fragile.

She lived in the nearby church. A recent addition to Hades' life—and his first real friend.

"If I don't, then who will?" she replied with a teasing smirk. "Your mother's not allowed to take care of you, and the rest of your family can't even stand the sight of you."

Hades groaned. "Do you have to rub it in every single time?"

"It was a mistake telling you about my life," he added, though his tone lacked any real bite.

Deep down, he didn't regret it. Not one bit.

Luna had been the first person he opened up to. The first person who stayed.

She looked up at him, catching his gaze.

He tilted his head. "What is it?"

"You don't flinch," she said, her voice soft, a little surprised.

Hades exhaled. "Still testing me, huh?"

Luna gave a small, sad smile. "What can I say... this scar on my face—it's the reason I'm always alone."

She had once lived with other orphans in the church. Children came and went—adopted, taken into homes, given new lives.

Even her closest friend, the one she saw as a sister, was chosen. And never wrote back.

Luna told herself it didn't matter. But deep inside, every time someone came looking to adopt a child and looked right past her... it hurt.

It broke something she had long stopped acknowledging.

"Hey."

A pair of warm hands cupped her cheeks.

She looked up into Hades's deep crimson eyes—eyes that didn't avoid her scar, or pity her.

Only warmth.

"No matter how much time passes or how the world changes," he said, his voice steady, "I'll always be here for you. I told you, I'm your family now... didn't I?"

Luna gave a trembling nod, her eyes misty. "But we still haven't decided what I'll be to you."

Hades hummed, thinking for a moment. "How about... we figure it out once we're grown up? If you end up liking me, you can be my wife. And if not..." he scratched his cheek sheepishly, "then I don't mind being your brother."

Luna let out a small laugh. "Why does it sound like you're being forced into that second option?"

Hades smiled in embarrassment. "Was it that obvious?"

Then, softly, with a quiet firmness, he added, "No matter what you choose... don't ever forget. I am—and always will be—yours."

....

That was what he had told her almost ten years ago.

And now—

"I hate you."

Luna's shoulders slumped. Her eyes shimmered with tears as her body trembled.

Hades stood motionless on the ground. The pain in his body had long been numbed, either by adrenaline or by emotions too raw to allow him to feel anything else.

His crimson eyes burned with a storm of emotions—

Anger.

Grief.

Disbelief.

"You were always by my side... all this time... and now you thought this was the right moment to tell me?"

His voice cracked—rough, choked, and full of things he couldn't say properly.

The truth had clawed its way out, leaving behind a wound worse than any blade.

"You saw me. You saw how shattered I was when I thought you were dead. You knew how much I needed you... how much you meant to me. And yet—you chose to remain silent?"

Luna shook her head, lips parting as if to speak, but no sound came. Her throat burned with unshed words, and her tears flowed slowly, carrying her regret and grief.

Hades took a shaky step forward.

"Why, Luna...?" His voice cracked again, lower now—softer and crueler for it. "Why couldn't you trust me? Did you think I wasn't worthy? Was I not your friend...?"

Luna finally managed to force out her voice. "I-I was told to be careful... by my grandma. My race—my entire bloodline—is nearly extinct. We're always hunted, always targeted. She said..." Her voice faltered again, "She said I'd endanger you if I stayed."

"So you decided to keep me in the dark?" His voice rose, bitter. "Was your plan to vanish one day without saying goodbye? Just going to abandon me again?"

"No!" she cried, her voice breaking completely. "No, never! The only reason I'm alive today... the only reason I kept moving forward... was because of you."

She grabbed his hand—tightly, desperately.

"I exist for you, Hades."

His body stiffened.

"Then why?" he whispered. "Why couldn't you just tell me? I spent so many nights... cursing myself for what happened. I missed you... Gods, I missed you so much."

Tears never stopped as she slowly stepped into his arms, her slender figure wrapping around him like she never wanted to let go again.

"I know," she said softly, voice muffled against his chest. "And I'm sorry I came back so late. But I had no choice. Things were complicated. I wasn't strong enough to protect myself back then. I wasn't strong enough to protect you."

Her voice trembled with every word, but there was a determination now—one born of years spent in hiding, aching to return.

"Please..." she whispered. "Please try to understand, Hades."

The redhead rested his head on her shoulder.

A part of his mind still burned with anger—for the secret she had kept, for the years she had let him grieve in ignorance.

But another part of him, perhaps the louder one, just wanted to hold her.

He had missed her. So much.

For so many days, he had sat in front of her grave, staring at the tombstone, speaking to the silence as if she'd replied.

Every single time he hunted a dragon, he had dedicated the kill to her.

She had been the reason he pursued this path.

The reason he chose to fight.

The reason he chose to live.

She had given him purpose—to survive, to endure, to hope.

How could he truly hate her?

"I am sorry, Hades ...I am sorry I was so late." She softly whispered.

Hades wordlessly hugged her. His arms tightly held her, as if he wanted to absorb her...as if he wanted to become one with her.

"Don't....ever...you dare leave me. Tell me you understand."

Finally, a smile broke out on her face as she hummed, "Never. I promise."

REAWAKENING: PRIMORDIAL DRAGON WITH LIMITLESS MANAC55: Sharing secrets

Chapter 55: Sharing secrets

The Phoenix race had always been rare.

Their numbers dwindled with each passing century. With the lowest fertility rate among all creatures and a unique constitution that made them desirable prey, they were hunted by every other race for their own gain.

In ancient times, the phoenixes lived under the protection of the elves. But that sanctuary, too, crumbled with time. As dragons and other powerful beings roamed the skies, even the deepest forests no longer felt safe.

One by one, the phoenixes vanished.

No longer moving in flocks, no longer building nests—each of them became a wanderer. They stayed in no place for long and never trusted the world enough to return.

The woman Luna called 'Grandma' was one of the last remaining phoenixes.

That's why, the moment her grandma had come near the coffin that day, she had sensed something—a familiar presence—hidden within.

Because she was one of them.

Luna had always been different. A child born of two races. A special kind of existence.

She didn't know who her parents were—and truth be told, she never cared to find out.

What mattered was that she had survived. That she had returned.

She awakened her phoenix side after her death.

Reborn from the ashes.

And with that second chance, she vowed to become stronger—strong enough to do more than throw herself in harm's way.

Strong enough to protect that one persom she loved.

Hades had saved her more times than she could count.

And the only time she tried to return the favor... she died.

That regret never left her.

So when she came back, she trained. Day after day. Year after year—under the sharp gaze of her grandmother.

She learned more than she ever imagined—about the world, about herself, and about the fire that now burned in her veins.

A hundred times—no, more—she had begged her grandma to let her see Hades.

But her grandmother was stern, cold in her discipline. She knew that only distance would push Luna to work harder. That only the ache of separation would make her truly grow.

And now, standing before Hades once again, Luna finally broke the silence.

"She told me that once my secret is out, I won't be able to stay in one place anymore," Luna whispered, gently holding up a small vial. A single tear had fallen from her eye, and she had caught it carefully inside. "And unless I told you about my identity as a phoenix... There was no way I could explain how I returned from death."

Hades didn't say a word.

But he could feel it—the energy around her had changed.

Her skin shimmered faintly in the moonlight, glowing with an otherworldly hue. Her eyes—they glowed with power, like embers that never dimmed. And her presence, her very aura... it felt like he was standing before something divine.

An ethereal being.

She stepped closer. And without another word, she tilted the vial and let the droplet fall onto his wound.

A warmth spread from the spot where it landed—gentle at first, then fierce, like a fire meant not to burn but to heal.

"Now it makes sense..." Hades finally spoke, his voice low. "I always wondered why the Saintess was always so kind to me. And then... your confession, out of nowhere."

Luna's cheeks flushed pink. "I thought I could slowly make you fall for me," she said, a little shyly. "But you were always too focused on Kayla. Then everything changed, and I finally got the chance to be close to you."

Hades let out a soft chuckle. "For the longest time, I thought you were plotting something against me."

Luna gave a small pout. "I've always been honest with you," she said quietly.

Hades let out a deep sigh and gently cupped her cheek. "Luna..."

"Hmm?" she responded softly.

He shook his head faintly. "Nothing. I just wanted to say your name... It's been so long."

Her heart gave a tiny jump, yet at the same time, it felt at peace. His voice was calm. Warm. Familiar.

Then, without another word, he pulled her into his arms—this time softly, tenderly.

"Thank you," he whispered. "Thank you for coming back for me. I was really lonely... thank you, Luna."

She clutched the hem of his shirt tightly. A smile crept onto her face.

"How could I not?" she said. "Luna always belongs to Hades, remember?"

He slowly drew back, just enough to look into her eyes.

They stared at each other—neither speaking, but everything being said through that gaze. Their hearts beat in quiet harmony. And in that stillness, it felt like the world had faded away. Only they existed in that moment.

Then, without warning, Hades slowly lowered his head.

And suddenly—

"...!" Luna gasped as his lips touched hers.

Softly at first, like a question.

Then deeper... slower... as if time itself had decided to pause for them.

Fingers curled into fabric, a quiet sigh escaped between them, and the world melted away—until only the two of them remained, suspended in a moment too tender to break.

However, all of a sudden, Hades pulled back, leaving Luna confused.

"What happened?" she asked softly.

"I... I need to tell you something," Hades said, avoiding her gaze. "Something about myself."

Luna tilted her head, her voice gentle, "I know everything about you."

But he shook his head. "Not everything... There's something I've kept from you. And just like you, I had a reason. I didn't want to put you in danger."

Luna stayed quiet, her eyes steady, silently urging him to go on.

Hades let out a slow breath and raised his hand. "I became what I hated the most."

Before her eyes, his nails began to stretch, his skin flushing red. A wave of heat rippled through the air around him.

Luna's eyes widened in disbelief as realization struck. "Y-You're... a dragon?"

He nodded. "I discovered this part of me recently. During that quest when I came against the Duke-ranked... something awakened. A voice echoed in my mind. Since then, I've been learning more—changing more. Almost every day, something new surfaces."

Heaving a sigh, he added, "Last night, because I somehow tapped into my power more than normal, we survived."

"That...explains." Luna slowly muttered.

Hades held her hand and said, "You are the second person I shared this secret with. Mom was the first."

Luna could understand why he didn't tell her about this side of him.

He couldn't have trusted her that much to reveal such a big thing.

Humanity's greatest enemy is those dragons. So, his hesitation was natural.

Holding his hand, Luna began to speak, "Hades, you know-" but soon, a third voice interrupted them,

"Never thought I would find a dragon and a phoenix in the same room."

The duo flinched.

They...never senses her coming inside.

It was as if she materialized from the shadows.

Sitting comfortably on the table was an old woman with long grey hair.

The Sage.

REAWAKENING: PRIMORDIAL DRAGON WITH LIMITLESS MANAC56: You have a role

Chapter 56: You have a role

"Why are you here?"

That was the first thing Hades asked when he saw her.

Long whitish-grey hair, aged yet wise eyes, and a light shroud over her head.

Her presence alone was enough to show she wasn't some ordinary mage.

She had appeared without warning. And yet, her aura wasn't threatening. Hades could tell—she meant no harm.

He'd seen her face in the papers a few times before. So he knew exactly who she was.

But the question remained—why?

"Didn't you come here to see me? And now that I'm here, you frown?" she said with a soft smile.

Hades blinked, caught off guard. "You knew?"

"I knew the moment you stepped into town. My eyes were already on you."

Luna quietly brought a chair for him. He was still far too injured to stand for long.

Hades gave her a small, grateful nod and sat down.

"Were you the one who saved me from that dragon?" he asked.

Artimus leaned back against the wall, arms relaxed, and tilted her head. "So you really don't remember? You scratched the surface of your powers for the first time, didn't you?"

Hades narrowed his eyes. "How... do you know that?"

He hadn't said anything out loud. But from the way she had earlier mentioned dragons, it was clear—nothing about him was hidden from her.

The Sage's eyes lowered as she leaned forward.

Lifting both her hands, she spoke gently, "These hands once carried you—when you didn't even have your eyes open."

"...!!" Hades's eyes widened in disbelief. Was she saying what he thought she was saying?

Luna instinctively covered her mouth, thinking the same thing.

But Artimus quickly caught the misunderstanding and corrected herself. "No, I'm not your mother. I was just the one who carried you away from her. So you could live."

Hades leaned back in his seat, processing her words. "Then... you know who my real parents are?"

The Sage nodded slowly. "I know far more about you than you think. But I'm afraid... I can't tell you. Not yet."

Hades sighed. "Why am I not surprised..."

Even the voice inside him had said he wasn't ready. He had expected this answer. Still, it was frustrating.

What exactly was he missing? Was he not strong enough? Not mature enough?

"You need to find that out yourself, young master," the Sage replied.

Hades flinched at the title. Young master?

Luna, uncertain, asked, "Did you... hear our conversation?"

The Sage shook her head. "No. But you're wondering how I knew you were a phoenix, right?"

Luna nodded. She had crafted a spell that concealed her phoenix nature from the world—hiding every trace of it deep under layers of magic.

"Well," the Sage said with a knowing look, "these eyes have seen too much to miss something as rare as you."

Luna didn't fully understand her answer—but somehow, it made sense.

Artimus had been alive for centuries. She had witnessed wars, peace treaties, the rise and fall of many kingdoms. It wasn't hard to believe she had seen every kind of creature that walked the earth.

"Can you please keep it a secret?" Hades asked, his tone serious.

Artimus shrugged. "Sure. It's not like I'll gain anything from telling the world."

Hades let out a quiet breath of relief.

He knew how rare phoenixes were. And if word got out, Luna would be hunted for her blood, her power—her very existence.

Until he was strong enough to protect her from anything...

Her secret needed to stay hidden.

A quiet moment passed between the three of them.

Then, Hades finally asked, "What's the reason for your visit? Were you just... worried about us?"

He didn't truly believe that was the case.

Artimus suddenly hopped off the table. The sudden movement gave them both a mild jump scare—especially considering her age and the height of the table.

Oh right. She was quite short, too.

Yet, she landed gracefully, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Without a word, she slowly walked toward the window, hands folded behind her back.

"I won't be around much longer," she said softly, staring outside. "I'm growing old... and when I'm gone, the pact will vanish with me."

Both Luna and Hades already knew that. They had heard whispers about it from several others.

But hearing it directly from her...

That was different.

The protector of humanity was fading.

And the sadness that came with that realization... carried a deep undercurrent of fear.

Luna quietly stepped forward. "Can you tell us more about the pact? How did you even manage to convince them?"

She'd always been curious. The Sage clearly wasn't human, yet she fought for them. And the dragons... actually listened to her?

Artimus gave a faint smile, her gaze distant.

"I helped stop a war... and saved the life of someone very important. In return, they offered me many things—even immortality. But I chose instead to repay the kindness once shown to me by humans."

Luna noticed how she avoided the deeper details, but she didn't press further. Something about Artimus's tone told her it wasn't a story easily shared.

Then the Sage turned her head slightly and looked at Hades.

"You understand what will happen... once the borders between the realms are lifted, don't you?"

Hades's eyes narrowed. His expression grew heavy.

"There won't be a realm for humans anymore."

The Sage nodded slowly. "Humans are allowed only limited growth. They're resilient—clever, even brilliant. But in the kind of war that's coming... their intelligence won't be enough to save them."

She turned to Hades, her gaze unwavering.

"And I believe you don't want that to happen."

Hades looked down, drawing a slow breath into his lungs. The weight on his shoulders felt heavier than ever.

"Can I really bring any change, Lady Sage?"

Artimus stepped closer, her voice calm but firm.

"Only you can bring that change, Hades."

She paused, letting the words settle before continuing.

"You are the deterrent that holds the balance of the world. The threat no dragon dares to ignore. And because of that... you will live. Even if millions stand against you—remember, you'll have allies too."

Hades felt her conviction in every word, but what grounded him in that moment wasn't her wisdom. It was the gentle hand of Luna that slipped into his.

Hades took a deep breath, his heart now much calmer when he asked, "How long do I have?"

"Ten years...at most I could give."

Hades nodded, "I still don't know how long the path ahead is, but I promise, in ten years, I will become the pillar as strong as you are."

Artimus fondly cupped his cheek, "You will be better than me. I know it. You are destined to be the ruler. The apex."

Bringing her hand down to his chest, she added, "Just never forget these human emotions you have attained in these years. They are very crucial for your journey."

Hades gave a firm nod.

He now had a far more important reason to focus on his growth.
