"Jer, I really wish you'd rethink this one."
Wolf grumbled with crossed arms as I dashed about my room, putting the finishing touches on my disguise.
"These men are far more dangerous than what you usually deal with," he added.
"Yes, yes, I know." I took a moment to admire the gold mask I'd donned before taking it off and reaching for the purple one on my vanity. "What I don't know is how you and Count Graye planned to get into that auction, but I plan to do so as an invited guest."
"And what's the problem with the invitation I secured you?" Wolf demanded.
I glanced at the said invitation. It was sitting on my vanity among the masks I'd gathered. The problem with it was that it was generic. A simple, ordinary piece of paper given to every nobody allowed to attend the auction. While it might be ideal for blending in amongst a crowd, it was absolutely worthless for gaining a strategic observation position.
