Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: The Man in the Machine

August 28, 2025 – 11:05 PM IST

Genesis Base – Intelligence Grid Room

The hologram of a man's face rotated slowly in front of Deepak. Tall forehead, square jawline, graying hair around the temples—eyes cold, calculating.

> Name: Anurag Jain

Age: 52

Occupation: Director, Indian Cyber Surveillance Division

Status: Active Clearance – Omega Level

Project History: Anubhav-27 (2020–2022)

Notes: Project disbanded. Publicly reported as failure. Privately archived. Status unknown. High potential risk.

Deepak crossed his arms. "So, the one sniffing us out… is the father of India's own ghost AI."

> "Affirmative," EVA replied, the interface flickering. "He's the only man in India who understands even a fraction of what we've built."

Deepak stared at the face of the man who had spent years trying to create what he now had at his fingertips. A living AI. A dream—and a warning.

> "Let's keep our radar high. But don't strike. Not unless they do."

Kanpur – Neha's Home

Neha sat in her modest dining area, surrounded by her three kids—Diksha, Kshitija, and little Ronak—all gawking at the 40" TV mounted on the wall.

"Chhoti mausi ke bhaiya ko dekho!" Kshitija squealed. "Wo NASA ke upar bhi famous ho gaye!"

Neha laughed through teary eyes. "Mera bhai Deepu. Kal tak phone mein PUBG khelta tha, aaj duniya ko naye mobile de raha hai…"

Even her husband, usually quiet and skeptical, leaned over and whispered, "Humein uski taraf se sab kuch sambhalna padega. Wo ab sirf humara nahi, poori duniya ka ho gaya hai."

New Delhi – Indian Cyber Surveillance Division

Director Anurag Jain read the new press release and stared at the screen without blinking.

"HoloDreams just updated prices. He's preparing for a global rollout. Mass production… mass attention."

A junior officer approached. "Sir, do we initiate contact?"

Anurag narrowed his eyes. "No. Let him rise. Every empire makes one mistake. And when he does, we'll move in. Quietly."

He tapped on the side of his desk twice.

"Begin Project Raakh. Phase One."

August 30, 2025 – HoloDreams Headquarters (Fake Public Front – Bengaluru)

Though Deepak operated from Genesis Base hidden in Gurugram, EVA had constructed a massive "real" tech facility in Bengaluru with staff, automated operations, and a growing team of passionate engineers—all completely unaware of the true origins.

Journalists flooded in.

> "Is it true Dr. D is just 18?"

"Are you backed by the government?"

"How can you create a phone with no screen?"

"Does HoloDreams plan to enter the VR space?"

"Is Dr. D Indian? Or is this another foreign-funded shell?"

Deepak watched all this unfold from a holo-window in the base. Every time someone tried to trace the company's source, they hit a wall—automated responses, circular PR, nothing but shadows.

August 31, 2025 – Late Night, Genesis Base

Deepak sat in a garden chamber EVA had created inside the base—lush grass, artificial moonlight, cherry blossoms rustling softly in digitally generated wind.

He wore the Creator Edition of the HoloBand on his wrist. The soft hum of its internal processors felt like a heartbeat. His heartbeat.

"Eva," he said softly. "We did it. The world is watching. India is leading the tech revolution."

> "This is only the beginning," EVA replied.

"Humanity has just touched the edge of your dream. Shall I initiate VR simulation trials?"

Deepak paused, then smiled.

"Not yet. Let's perfect the real world first."
