Chapter 35 - Love In Unexpected Places

As the pack healed from war and rebuilt its strength, something else began to bloom—love. And not just between Damon and Nyla, but among those who had walked beside them through fire and fury.

Miracle, once the source of betrayal, now found herself caught off guard by the unwavering presence of Damon's beta, Jace. Gruff, loyal, and painfully blunt, he had never liked her. Or so she thought. But during their long days in the infirmary and nights discussing strategies, the lines blurred. One evening, as Miracle wrapped a bandage around his bruised arm, their hands lingered. "You're not who I thought you were," he murmured. "Neither are you," she replied. He leaned in. She didn't pull away.

Meanwhile, Talia—fierce, opinionated, and loud—had been secretly sneaking glances at Zev, the rogue warrior from the hidden pack. He was quiet, with sharp green eyes and a wicked grin. Their banter was constant and usually heated, but one moonlit patrol changed everything. When a wild boar startled them in the woods, Talia screamed, Zev laughed, and somehow in the chaos, they kissed. "Tell anyone," she growled. "I'll deny it," she said. But her smile said otherwise.

Then there was Lara, Nyla's nosy but loyal neighbor. Sweet, curious, and always meddling. During the celebration after the final battle, she bumped into Jari, a warrior from the northern tribe that had aided in the war. Tall, dark, and poetic, Jari was unlike anyone she had met. He recited verses under the stars, brought her wildflowers, and called her "sunlight." When he asked her to visit his homeland, she shocked everyone by saying yes. "I've lived here my whole life," Lara told Nyla, "but maybe my heart belongs somewhere else."

From unlikely pairings to bold choices, love began to ripple through the pack. The war had taken much—but it had also made room for something new. Something soft, unexpected, and fiercely real.

Nyla watched it all unfold with a knowing smile. "Even warriors deserve a little romance," she whispered, leaning into Damon's embrace as the stars blinked above. Love was no longer just hers to keep—it was spreading, wild and beautiful, like the wolves themselves.
