Chapter 4 - TST [4]

"Why did I just lose so many Life Points?!"

Ian's smile froze on his face as his eyes widened and he stared at the opponent's Monster.

Only then did he notice Trickstar Lycoris's second effect: as long as this card was on the Field, every time the opponent adds a card to their Hand, they take 200 damage per card added.

Just now, when he drew a card, he had lost 200 Life Points.

But that was just one Monster's burn. His Life Points had actually dropped by a full 1000!

That was because, on top of that, Trickstar Light Stage and Dark Room of Nightmare were also applying their effects.

Three cards combined—exactly 1000 damage.

A flash of panic crossed Ian's eyes. If he didn't destroy the opponent's Monsters soon, every time he added cards to his Hand, he'd take damage, over and over. He wouldn't last many turns like this.

After a brief pause for thought, Ian decisively summoned a Monster.

"I Normal Summon Dragunity Aklys in Attack Position!"

...

"So he's playing Dragunity Deck, huh?"

Morgan rested her soft cheek against her hand, smiling unconcernedly at the Dragon Monster that appeared on the screen.

She was fairly familiar with that Deck and knew the opponent would definitely start building plays to get rid of her Monsters first.

Even so, Morgan wasn't planning on giving him that chance.

Her lips curled into a charming arc as she unhesitatingly flipped a Set card face-up.

"When Aklys activates its effect to Special Summon 1 'Dragunity' monster from your hand, I Chain with the Trap Card, Infinite Impermanence!"

Dragunity was powerful, but it had limited starters.

Not to mention, her opponent had already wasted his precious Normal Summon. With this interruption, there wasn't much else he could do this turn.

The crimson Aklys roared once, then fell completely silent.

Ian stood frozen. His prideful combo... shut down just like that?

That Trap Card... he had never seen it before either.

After a moment's hesitation, and with no other plays in hand, he had no choice but to Set two backrow cards and end his turn.

At least the opponent's Monsters didn't have high Attack Points. No way she could finish him off this turn.

Ian consoled himself.

"Hah, getting my setup cut short... this sucks!"

⟨Big Ian's daily tragedy—getting stuck mid-play again!⟩

⟨The opponent's cards look rare... could this be another smurfing whale?⟩

⟨Big Ian turned into the fish!⟩

Glancing at the barrage of chat, Ian stayed stubborn.

"Relax, guys. Next turn, I'm at least taking half her Life Points!"

On the other side, Morgan straightened her back, her shirt rising and falling slightly with each breath, her youthful body practically radiating restless energy.

She placed her pale fingers on her Deck and let out a soft breath.

"My turn! Draw!"

After glancing at her drawn card and adding it to her Hand, a confident smile appeared on Morgan's face.

Honestly, the last turn had been his only real chance to beat her.

But he hadn't seized it.

So now... he could only blame her for being too sunny!

"I Normal Summon Trickstar Candina in Attack Position!"

Morgan summoned Candina once again. Its effect let her search for a Trickstar card from her Deck.

With one Trickstar Lycoris already in Hand and another on the Field, she now fetched the final missing piece from her Deck.

At this point, she had three continuous burn Monsters online.

And most importantly, Lycoris's effect of bouncing a Monster to Special Summon herself could stack.

Meaning—by returning just one Candina to her Hand, she could Special Summon both Lycorises!

Having three on the Field at once... it was practically a burn chart from hell.

"I activate the effects of both Trickstar Lycorises in my Hand! Returning Candina to my Hand to Special Summon both of them to the Field!"

Buzz—!

A flash of golden light swept across the field as two girls in red performance outfits appeared.

Triple the fun!

And with Trickstar Light Stage and Dark Room of Nightmare still in play...

Every time her opponent drew a card, he'd take 1800 burn damage!

But Morgan wasn't about to stop there.

"I activate the Spell Card: Hand Destruction!"

"Both players send two cards from their Hands to the Graveyard, then draw two cards from their Decks!"

Calmly, Morgan discarded two cards, then drew two more.

She could already picture the look on his face.

Two cards drawn... 3600 damage!

Ian's breath caught in his throat, his mind buzzing as he made a full-on pain face.

Adding the 700 damage she'd already dealt earlier, this one turn alone was going to cost him 4400 Life Points.

His 8000 LP... halved instantly.

The trash talk he'd just spewed—now getting fulfilled... against himself.

His mental defenses broke completely.

"SunshineStriker, my ass! Where's the sunshine in this?! This is a Stun match, I'm straight-up locked down!"

Ian screamed helplessly as his chat room filled with joyous energy.
