No one truly knows the Devil within us—until my sister kissed her boyfriend right before my eyes.
"Aaaaaah!" Jack screamed and bolted when he saw my sister transform into a monster right after their kiss.
She was so in love that she forgot the curse: kissing someone would trigger her transformation. Breaking the curse haunted her. The rule was simple yet cruel—she had to kiss Jack seven times to free herself.
Our parents had to go through hell to convince Jack to help her break the curse. We weren't rich, but they paid him a huge sum to keep the monstrous secret of our family safe.
That chapter of my sister's life turned into a nightmare for me. Night after night, I dreamt of some guy kissing me, and I'd wake up drenched in fear. The idea of falling in love or kissing terrified me. I even broke up with my handsome boyfriend, Dieb, because I refused to let him kiss me. "Scarlett, go fetch a water bucket from the supermarket!" her mother called out, snapping Scarlett out of her daydream.
Scarlett sighed and hurried to the store. Her family wasn't well off; they ran a small restaurant that barely kept them afloat. Her older sister, Isabella Mondragon, was in university, while Scarlet had just finished junior school and was preparing to start high school the following Monday. Thanks to a scholarship from sponsors, she had secured admission to one of the best schools in the region.
At the supermarket, Scarlett spotted the last water bucket on the shelf. She reached for it but couldn't quite grab it. "Darn it! I thought I was tall, but apparently not," she muttered.
Just then, a stranger reached up and grabbed it.
"Hey! I saw it first!" Scarlett snapped, but the guy ignored her and walked away.
"I need this! Give it back!" she yelled, following him like a shadow.
He stopped and turned, his voice calm but firm. "I don't see your name on it."
Scarlett, irritated, shoved him from behind. He stumbled to the floor.
The moment he hit the ground, Scarlett snatched the bucket. "This is mine!" she stammered, her voice faltering when she saw how strikingly handsome he was.
"I thought Dieb was handsome, but this guy… he's like a Greek god," Scarlett muttered under her breath before rushing out of the store.
Some men dressed in black suits rushed to the guy's aid. They helped him up, addressing him as "Young Master."

Scarlett's first day at high school was already off to a rough start. She overslept and had to sprint to the principal's office, dreading the inevitable scolding.
While running, she collided with someone. Before she could regain her balance, the guy grabbed her arm to steady her, pulling her so forcefully that their lips accidentally met.
"Oh no… I broke my promise," Scarlett whispered, horrified.
A tickling sensation filled her body. She knew she had less than a minute before the transformation began. Panicking, she ran away, leaving the guy bewildered—and angry.
The guy, Alex, glanced at his cracked phone and sighed. "What a mess," he muttered, recognizing Scarlett as the girl from the supermarket.

Scarlett locked herself in the school restroom, trembling as her body began to change. Horns sprouted from her head, her skin twisted and warped, and sharp fangs emerged from her mouth.
She stared at her monstrous reflection, tears streaming down her face.
Her best friend, Natashia, arrived outside the washroom, desperate to use it. "Who the hell locks the restroom during the day?!" she shouted. Frustrated, she decided to climb through the window.
