Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Chakra

When I first saw A, it was the time I truly realized that my wish had actually been granted, since this man looked nothing like the person who would become the First Raikage. I knew this because his right-hand man was the person who was supposed to be the Current A. The current A, was very different from his B. While his B was thin with wild, well kept hair, and had a rough edge to him that made one wary. A on the other hand was large of frame, with muscles showing through his white and red jumpsuit, but it was his aura that stood out. The man had a friendly smile on his face at all time, but there was brutality and lethality to him that put me on edge. The man was a killer, while that was true for everyone in the room, it was much more so for him. He didn't come off as a brute tho, there was intelligence and cunning in his eyes.

While I was observing the man, I noticed he was observing me too, he had a small smile on his face as he looked at me. Meeting his gaze made me nervous, but I held it for a few more seconds before it became unbearable to do so. Instead, I looked to my father and smiled at the ever-serious man.

We followed Gold A into the hall and made our way to the center, he quickly flickered to the side of the patriarch. Leaving us kids stranded and surrounded by the most important people in our clan. For another clan it might've been a scary experience since all of these people were at least jonin strength, a few even being elite jonin. That wasn't us tho, we had no reason to be worried about the clan. No, we were just confused. Fortunately, none of the other kids spoke out of turn, and waited for the patriarch to address us as is custom.

Knowing the protocol, I decided to lead the other by kneeling to the patriarch with my head down. I could hear the others soon following my actions. I could feel a few gazes on me, I don't know if it was any imagination or not, but the Patriarch's gaze stood out. It was heavy, unbearably so.

'How strong is this freak?' I couldn't help but ask myself internally. 'Could he stand up to Hashirama and Madara? I doubt it. He might not be a god, but maybe a Demi-God?' I didn't get to continue my musings as the Patriarch began to speak.

"It seems we have few bright sparks in this generation. Don't you think B?" he stated with a slight chuckle

"From what I've heard, they are a promising group yo" B answered, finishing with his trademark verbal tick.

"What say you, C? Your son is amongst the group, no?" A asked the man to his left

"They are talented children, but we must make sure they reach their full potential." my father answered seriously, not even acknowledging the question of if I'm his son or not. If I didn't know better, I would assume the man didn't like me.

A chuckled a little before speaking "Haha, you are right C. We must make sure our bright sparks turn into fearsome streaks of lightning. And that is why we are here today, to witness the birth and welcome a new generation of Shinobi into our great Clan!"

A brief round of applause went around the room in congratulation for us. There was a brief shuffle in the room and I felt a gust of wind before a pair of feet entered my sight.

"Raise your heads, your necks will get stuck if you keep them like that any longer" the patriarch joked.

I looked up and saw the patriarch smiling down at us. To my right though a man with that I didn't know stood. He held a small stack of small square brownish papers. It didn't take much effort to realize they were chakra papers and from there I realized what was about to happen. I had to put a lot of effort in holding back my excitement, but it seems I wasn't good enough.

"One of the little sparks has figured out what's about to happen. Isn't that right White?" A asks as he looks me in the eyes, a playful smile on his face. The man sure did smile a lot.

I could feel all eyes focus on me, unused to the attention, and a kaleidoscope of butterflies formed in my stomach. I felt a little nauseous, I had never been good when put on the spot. But I bit my tongue a little bit to pull me out of it and in my nervousness I glanced at my father who subtly nodded his head. With his reassurance, I took a deep breath and replied.

"We are unlocking our chakra today." I state with the most confidence I can muster.

It must not have been enough as the patriarch burst out laughing at my response, "hahaha, yes, little spark. You all will officially be joining the ranks of Shinobi today. And unlocking your chakra is the first and most vital step. I could talk more but, we should get to the point. Many of the men and women in here are busy. Brown B, you can start." he motioned to the man to my side.

The man nodded and spoke to us "This process will be quick and easy. Each of you will come up to me. You will sit down facing the Elders and I will place my hand on your back. From there you will do your best to feel the energy inside of you. Do you all understand?"

I nodded, and I assumed the others did too because right after he told everyone else to line up. The others rushed to the front causing me to end up dead last since I wasn't in a hurry. I already knew what my chakra natures would be, so I was far more interested in what the others have. I could see the elders laughing a little at our antics, but otherwise, they were unperturbed by the rowdiness of the kids.

Grey was able to use her strength and speed to get the first spot, followed by pink sneaking her way second. Purple pushed her way into third and, with Black shoulder to shoulder with her, but he quickly gave up and got behind her. Yellow like me waited towards the end, when he saw me not going forward he happily took the fifth spot.

Grey followed the instructions given to us and sat down in front of Brown B. Wasting no time, the young man put a hand on her back. It looked like nothing was happening on the outside to me, but I knew that he was circulating his chakra inside of her body to help her kick-start her dormant chakra. It didn't take long for Brown B to take his hand off of her back, a minute at most, before he whispered something into the concentrating girls ear before motioning for the next one to go. Each one sitting next to the last as they concentrated on circulating their chakra.

This process continued until it was finally my turn. It would be a lie to say that I wasn't nervous about something going wrong. But I had no reason to be, and with a deep breath, I walked up to Brown B and sat down as told. I closed my eyes and blocked off the world around me before I felt a hand on my back. Slowly, a warmth entered my body and started flowing through it. Going from my chest to my legs and back up to my head. This cycle went on twice before I felt something in me unlock, like water released from a broken dam, my chakra rushed out from my core and through my chakra pathways. The feeling was incredibly soothing and felt amazing, but I knew that I had to control this energy, or it would go in every direction, causing a discordance that would cripple my ability to become a competent shinobi.

Before too much could get out of control, I quickly coaxed my chakra along the path that Brown B had shown me earlier. I don't know how long I did this, but for this period, my only focus was on moving my chakra along the path. After about three rotations of me manually doing it, the chakra started to move in the way I wanted it to on its own. From there it was me making small adjustments to make sure nothing went astray. After everything seemed as good as it was going to get I decided to open my eyes.

"Alright, It seems like all of you have finished. Make sure for the next two weeks you do this exercise every night to make sure your chakra pathways passively follow the correct direction. Now on to the next thing." Brown B says with a smile before pulling out a small stack of dirty brown square papers. "Now that you all have unlocked your chakra it is time for you to learn of your chakra nature affinities. Each of you will be giving one of these, and then you will move your chakra into it. From there I will let you know what your affinities are."

B hands out the chakra papers to the six of us and then motions for us to begin. I wait to watch what the other get before doing mine. Grey's paper had one side wrinkle while the other side became damp, signifying lighting and water affinities. I had a feeling that all our papers will have wrinkles in them. From what I've seen everyone in the clan that unlocks chakra has a Lighting affinity no matter what.

Pink went next and like I suspected she had lighting affinity but surprisingly her affinities were the exact same as Grey with the other side of her paper also going damp. Black went next and their paper only shriveled. They looked disappointed when they didn't have more than one nature, but honestly having one nature at the start is probably for the best, since you are forced to focus on your one option and become elite in it before you move on to something else. Sometimes not having a choice is the best. And knowing what type of monster black will become in the future, I'm sure he will be more than satisfied with his lightning release.

After Black was Purple, besides the lightning affinity he surprisingly had a fire affinity. Something pretty rare in the Land of Lighting. Most people have Lighting, wind, or the occasional water affinity. This deep into the land, it is incredibly rare to find anything besides Lightning. But it was a welcome surprise to Purple, he had expressed his distaste for lighting release in the past, he mentioned something about it being boring and everyone having it. So it didn't come as a surprise to me when he started jumping for joy. The elders in the room smiled at his antics, I could see that they were assuming that he was just happy for two affinities, but all of us knew better.

Yellow, the second from last infused his chakra into the paper. The left side shriveled up like all of ours had so far, while the right crumbled into dirt, signifying he had lighting and earth affinities. He smiled a little bit before handing the bits of paper left to Brown who disposed of it with a quick fire jutsu. Yellow looked at me so did everyone else in the room. I ignored this and pushed my chakra into the paper.

The chakra paper reacted immediately, first by splitting in the middle. I caught the pieces as they fell to the ground, the left piece shriveled up, like all the others, while the right became damp and soggy. My affinities were, as I suspected, wind, lightning, and water. There is a fourth affinity in there, but it is undetectable by the paper.

I look up from the paper and hand it to the waiting and smiling B who takes the papers and burns them like the others. I look around the room and see approving and reassuring smiles from everyone in the room, except my father. He just gives me an approving nod.

"We have some very promising talents in this generation. Took them almost half the time it took Gold and Brown to figure out how to circulate their chakra." A laughs as he smiles down at us.

"Perfect for the future yo" B says with a nod

All the other elders give their own nods of approval at the statement. I didn't know exactly what they were talking about, but I had an idea. And if I was right, it seemed that I would have a lot of expectations put on me. I still had a lot to show today, and I planned to leave no stone unturned on just how vast my potential is. I will be the next 'A', and none of my cousins will be able to stop me.

"Alright we now know what your affinities are, now we only have two other tests to see if you have any other perks. First, we will be testing for sensory abilities and then for Kekkei Genkai. Do you all know what those are?" Brown B asked us in a kind voice, though I didn't like being spoken too like a child.Unfortunately though, I was a child.

All of us nodded at his question, we had been informed at the last children's get-together what they were. In fact, most of the things I learned about his world were from those get-together's, they were incredibly informative. Our mothers did a good job when they came up with the idea, if it continues for each generation, then our clan will become even more of a force to be reckoned with. I'm sure that most other kids our age have no idea what a sensor or a Kekkei Genkai is. Unless they are from a clan that specializes in one of those two things.

"Perfect" he nodded, "Okay, I want each of you to close your eyes and try to sense my location. Once you sense me you will point to where you think I am. We will do this three times, you will keep your eyes closed the whole time and point when I tell you to, okay?"

We all nodded our heads, and he motioned for us to close our eyes. I wonder if I have sensing abilities too?
