I hate my life.
It was all I could think of when my mother woke me up this morning to go to my training session with the Patriarch. The sun hadn't even started to rise before she had me sitting at our table eating breakfast. I ate in silence and picked over my food as I tried to gain any semblance of energy. I was so tired, there were even a couple times I closed my eyes to blink and ended up falling asleep. But mother made sure to keep me up.
I was forced to finish all my food so that I could have the energy to get through the day. And boy what a day it would be. See, my training session with A would only be the first, my second and the one I dreaded the most would be in the afternoon with my mother. She would be training me in kenjutsu, while I've been looking forward to the day she would finally teach me. I knew it was going to be hell on earth, if by how she trained with my father was any measure.
"Alright White, good luck with your training. Make sure to be home before noon so that you can eat lunch." My mother gives me a kiss on my head before sending me out.
I say my goodbyes too before running towards the patriarchs personal abode. It wasn't far from our home considering the leaders of the village, especially those with letters for names live close together. So it was maybe a two minute run before I reached the patriarch's home.
It was bigger than our home, but not tremendously so. I can't say much about the inside, but the outside was pretty similar.
When I arrived I didn't even have to worry about knocking as Gold A and Brown B greeted me at the door. They were leaving for training of their own and told me to just head straight through the house till I got to the courtyard. Their father was waiting on me anyway.
When A mentioned his father I was confused at first before I remembered that both A and B considered the patriarch a father. While he was Brown B's actual father, he was only an adoptive father for Gold A, whose real father had died in one of the many wars we've fought in. Apparently, his father was the Patriarch's younger brother. I wonder how strong he was. If the Patriarch and Gold A were anything to go off of then he must've been exceptional. Though I never hear much about him.
I made my way to the courtyard with relative ease, the house of the Patriarch was decorated pretty conservatively, it almost felt like it could be used as stock footage. It was kind of boring honestly. When I arrived at the courtyard I saw the Patriarch sitting in seiza with his eyes closed. He looked to be concentrating on something. What? I have no idea. From the beads of sweat on his face it must've been something major.
I decided to watch for some more time to see what happened and I was not disappointed. As slowly sparks of electricity started to streak on the arms of A at first they were the normal blue color but they quickly darkened to a fearful black color. They made a loud shriek as they formed and the settled dust and debris in the area was blown away.
But that was not the end of it as soon the lightning bean to brighten, it went back to it original blue color, never loosing its intensity. Increasing actually. The lightning continued to brighten until it was a pure white color, the light it produced was almost blinding. But the power it possessed was even more astonishing, far surpassing the Black earlier, so much so that the ground around A started to crack from its intensity, while the man himself was visible struggling, his muscles were bulging and all the veins on his face were visible.
I knew I couldn't announce myself or things might go wrong for the man, so I continued to wait and watch in fascination. And I was rewarded for doing so. The patriarch took a deep breath and with all he could manage increased the insanity of the lighting.
Causing it to slowly change colors again from white to yellow to orange and then finally a light red color. When the red lighting formed the aura around the Patriarch became almost unbearable for me, I had to take a few steps back and it seemed the same was true for the ground too as it began vibrate, splinter, and crack from its sheer power A was giving off.
But the power was clearly too much as as soon as his nose and mouth started to leak blood. He was able to hold on for about a minute before he let go of the power and collapsed on himself heaving. I waited a few seconds to allow him to catch his breath before I made my appearance into the courtyard.
The Patriarch quickly noticed my approach and made to stand up, it was shaky but he eventually got to his feet and stood tall.
"Hmm, it seems you have made it little White. I take it you saw what happened?" he asked with a crossed arms as he looked down at me as I approached.
"Yes, Patriarch" I nod as I stand before him. There was no point in lying, he probably had sensed me long ago.
"Haha, no need for the formality, you may refer to me as sensei whenever we are alone." he smiles and waves a hand to dismiss my formality.
"Oh, okay…Sensei" it was weird to say but I eventually got it out and even gave him a smile to add on.
"Good" the mans smile widened further "Now, I am sure your curious about what I was doing and in due time you will learn. But for now, our training will focus on your Kekkei Genkai and the basics of shinobi, once you have reached a sufficient mastery in those we will move onto other things. Is that understood?"
I nod my head at the man "Yes, Sensei!"
"Today we will be going over some basic things for a shinobi, first we will practice chakra control and then we will move onto…" A continued to list a bunch of things that we were going to go over, so much stuff that it made me want to hurl but I patiently waited for him to end.
And then my hell truly began, A was not a nice teacher. He was intense and unforgiving, he expected me to perform something well the first time I did it after being shown an example, and while for most things I was able to copy decently, a few things I struggled with.
The prime example being throwing shurriken, I was fairly accurate with senbons and kunai, but when it came to shuriken I was atrocious, I just could never hit the target no matter how hard I tried. It got so bad that sensei eventually punished me by having my hang upside on a branch of a tree and do sit-ups.Truly, it was hell.
Even though it was hell, I was able to get a decent gage on where I stood at talent wise, even though I knew that I had the potential of Shisui Uchiha, which basically meant I could easily become a Kage level shinobi. But, it was another thing to see that talent in actual display, disregarding the shurikens, everything came pretty easy to me at least for the basics. Whether it be simple chakra control, beginner taijutsu forms or stealth, everything sort of clicked.
This could be because I was only practicing the basics and even though sensei was a hardass, there was only so much you could expect from a four year old, no matter how talented.
Our training lasted until just before the sun reached its peak, about an hour before noon. Sensei sent me home and I trudged out of his house barely able to keep my legs under me as I walked home. What initially took me two minutes this morning now took me over ten. And when I finally walked through the door, I didn't make it a step further before I collapsed onto the ground face first.
"Ahh!" I heard my mother shriek from the living room as she heard my fall. It wasn't long before she came running to the door to see what was up and when she did she just started laughing.
"Ooooh my poor baby, did A make it tough for you." She half cooed and half giggled as she picked me up in her arms. My pride was too high to even deign a response, nor did I have the energy to give one. I just nestled myself into her bosom and allowed myself some sleep.
When I woke up, I was laying in my bed then sun was already going down, it was unfortunate since I did love to spend my afternoons outside playing with my cousins and friends. I don't know how that would be possible for the foreseeable fortune though. I am certain that I will be stuck in the house sleeping midday for at least the next month, until I can get used to sensei's training.
I got out of my bed when I felt my stomach aching from hunger, I hadn't eaten since that morning and that was no good, no good at all. I am a growing boy, I need as much nutrition as I can get. I hurriedly made my way down to the dining room hoping for my mother to have made anything for me to eat.
As I stalked into the dining room I saw my mother and my dad at the table they were having casual conversation, only she was sitting in his lap and the conversation was their mouths touching. Gross.
Now, usually I wouldn't be a party pooper, but I was hungry and couldn't care less.
"Momma, I'm hungry!" I say in the cutest and most pitiful voice I can muster. And it seemed to work because not even a second later my mother was up from her seat and squatting in front of me.
She picked me up in her arms, something I hoped they would stop doing soon, and hugged me "Oooh, my sweet boy, I'm sorry. I didn't know you would wake up so I was waiting to cook anything. But don't worry, mama will make you the best food you ever had." She gave me a big kiss on the cheek before sitting me down, in my seat at the table.
I was ecstatic, mothers cooking was good all the time, but when she was cooking to apologize? I don't know if there is a chef in either of the worlds I've lived in that can compete. They would create a fourth Michelin star just for her.
But my mood quickly plummeted as it seemed she wasn't finished "And then we can get on with your training. You missed out on the good hours of the sun, but learning at night has its own advantages." she gave a smile before turning to the kitchen and starting to cook.
I could feel all of the blood drain from my face when she said that. If I am to be truthful, I was secretly hoping she would forget about the training, since I had slept through the time. But it seems I was proven wrong. No, the training would still happen, but now it would be even worse. Learning how to properly wield a sword in the dark would bring significantly greater challenges.

Let me know what you think about the story! If their is anything you think I should add, feel free to make suggestions.
Also, I haven't decided who I want the MC to marry in the future and I don't know if this is a harem yet (doesn't really make too much since for the world so I'm leaning against). Though, their aren't too many known woman in this time period, especially not in a village like Kumo. The consequence of making the story so far before cannon. So many of the potential pairing will have to be OC's, I guess.
Now, obviously this world is an AU if you would like a short explainer to give some insight on the differences (their aren't too many) I'm fine with that. I'll just go with the majority vote on that tho.
You might notice a slight style change from Chapter 6 onward, that's because these first five chapter were written two years ago. It shouldn't be too much of a difference though. I still haven't determined if that a good or bad thing tho.
p.s. for those who don't like child MC's, I will try to have him at 12 years old before chapter 15. I promise, I don't really like writing an MC so young myself, but it felt necessary.
