Hearing Canary's words, the old fire dragon, Croix, and Pumpkin Jack all showed expressions of astonishment, seemingly just as shocked.
Only Maxwell's Demon didn't understand what she was talking about.
"What queen? What tricks are you playing? What are you talking about?" he roared in despair.
Seeing him struggling on the verge of death, Canary shook her head, her eyes filled with pity. "As a user of the Boundary, you don't even know this?"
"In Little Garden, and indeed in the entire multiverse connected to it, all authority of the Boundary-type comes from the Queen of Halloween. The Queen holds absolute authority over the Boundary. Whether it's you, Croix, or Willa, the source of your Gifts can be traced back to the Queen of Halloween."
"Therefore, the Queen can grant or revoke the Boundary authority Gift from others at will. Though, generally, as long as you don't offend her personally, she won't do so."
Hearing this, the Pale Flame Demon showed a look of realization, finally understanding the origin of her Gift. Maxwell's Demon also understood this point, and while horrified by the terrifying nature of Little Garden, he was even more confused.
"But I haven't offended that queen or whatever!"
Faced with such words, Canary shook her head without answering, merely letting her gaze fall on Su Mo's face. "That's a question for Lord Su Mo!"
Hearing this, everyone followed her gaze to Su Mo.
"It's nothing. It's just as you guessed. The Queen shared her authority with me, that's all," Su Mo said with a calm expression.
"As I thought," Canary blinked. She wasn't surprised by Su Mo's answer, just more curious about how far the Queen had gone.
"Ooh~" Croix drew out the sound, winking and nudging, but dared not say anything. What kind of relationship would make the Queen of Halloween share her very life and being with Su Mo? He had his guesses, but he didn't dare say them out loud.
The old fire dragon and his wife had mixed expressions.
They had clearly also guessed that the relationship between the two was unusual, but with their status, they were not qualified to comment on the private affairs of such great figures.
Pumpkin Jack, on the other hand, was very happy, as if adding joy upon joy.
After all, both the Pale Flame Demon Willa, born from the boundary of life and death, and himself, disguised as a Halloween spirit, had received the grace of the Queen of Halloween.
If their two benefactors were to tie the knot, he would naturally be overjoyed.
What everyone had guessed, Maxwell's Demon had naturally figured out as well. He hadn't known the Queen of Halloween before and had no interest or opinion on any woman other than Willa.
But in this moment, his resentment almost exploded.
"Damn love-struck fool, to just give away such a precious authority! This dog and—"
The words "dog and bitch" were cut off before he could finish.
Under Maxwell's Demon's horrified gaze, his immortal body withered and turned to ash from the bottom up, inch by inch.
The body that could have been regenerated in the blink of an eye with infinite energy was now permanently lost, showing no signs of reconstruction.
Even the perpetual motion machine Divinity within him had completely stopped, as if its creator had pressed the pause button.
His body and Divinity collapsed together.
The shadow of death completely enveloped him. In just a few seconds, only his head remained.
Realizing that his life was about to end, in the last few seconds, he didn't look at Su Mo with hatred. Instead, he used the last of his strength to move his eyes, looking at the buxom, baby-faced Pale Flame Demon in the corner.
"Willa..."
His mouth silently formed her name. Looking at the small, clueless, yet pure and sexy figure before him, Maxwell's Demon's eyes widened, turning completely red.
This wasn't some true emotion stirred at the end of his life, a desire to see his unattainable goddess one last time and burn her image into his mind.
It was because he suddenly realized that in the final moment of his life, Willa hadn't spared a single glance for him.
Instead, the buxom, baby-faced girl was staring intently at Su Mo, her eyes shining with an adoring gaze that was clearly the look of a young girl in love.
Damn it! I've been chasing her for decades and have never seen Willa show me such favorability. This guy shows up for just a few minutes and reaps all the rewards? This tasteless bitch—
His eyes widened, and he met his destructive end, unable to rest in peace.
After casually dealing with Maxwell's Demon, Su Mo opened his left hand.
Invisible motes of light gathered from where Maxwell had disappeared, finally coalescing in Su Mo's palm to form two similar clusters of light.
"What is that?" Seeing this scene, Canary was a little surprised.
"The Divinity of Maxwell's Demon," Su Mo answered simply.
"Is this useful to you?" Canary tilted her head, a little confused.
She had thought Su Mo had just happened to be passing by, or perhaps, being more generous, had sensed she was in danger and come to help. Now it seemed that wasn't the case, or at least not the whole story.
After all, not just any existence's Divinity was worthy of being personally collected by Su Mo.
"If it were Maxwell's Demon's own Divinity, it would be useful, but not very meaningful." Su Mo absorbed one of the Divinities into his own body without any hindrance. "The second type of perpetual motion machine has already been disproven in Little Garden and cannot function as a perpetual motion machine. So, in fact, he was not qualified to have immortality."
Hearing Su Mo say this, and recalling the immortality that even the death god couldn't handle, which Maxwell's Demon had displayed during his fierce battle with Croix, Canary was stunned for a moment, then realized something. "You mean, there's a problem with his immortality?"
"Mhm." Su Mo showed her the remaining cluster of light. "His immortality came from a Divinity related to his own... The former Demon Lord Alliance stuffed this thing into this guy and never dealt with it. Later, I gave the Demon Lord Alliance to the Queen. She was probably mainly focused on revenge and hadn't gotten around to investigating these details yet."
In a sense, this guy was a remnant of the Son of God's plan, though Maxwell's Demon himself probably wasn't even aware of it.
Hearing Su Mo say this, Canary subconsciously ignored the part about the Queen, whom she was not qualified to judge, and focused on the key point of Su Mo's words.
"A Divinity related to the second type of perpetual motion machine..." she said, her eyes widening. "Are you talking about the third type of perpetual motion machine?!"
In the history of human science, both the first and second types of perpetual motion machines had been completely disproven.
If a Divinity related to Maxwell's could still exhibit the effect of a perpetual motion machine with infinite energy, she couldn't think of any other possibility besides the third type.
"Precisely," Su Mo nodded. This was his target for this trip. "The third type of perpetual motion machine is the key to overcoming eschatology in Little Garden."
