Season 2, Episode 7: "Echoes"
SCENE 1: INSIDE MIRA'S MIND — THE SILENCE AWAKES
Darkness.
Thick. Viscous. Breathing.
Inside Mira's consciousness, the world twisted—endless corridors of stone, dripping with shadow and memory. The Silence had grown.
It whispered in her voice now. In her mother's voice. In the voice of every person she had failed to save.
"You are not real."
"You are not strong."
"Let me protect you."
Her feet moved on their own, barefoot on the freezing obsidian floor. Blood dripped from her fingertips, even though there were no wounds. Her reflection in the black marble walls was wrong — it blinked when she didn't, smiled when she cried.
And when she tried to scream?
The walls laughed.
"You are me now."
SCENE 2: THE NOMAD CAMP — FRAYING AT THE EDGES
Back in reality, Mira sat upright by the fire, pupils fully dilated, whispering to
something no one could see.
Nova flinched as she approached. "Mira… can you hear me?"
Mira's lips moved, barely audible:
"I hear them all. Every version of me that's died."
Nova recoiled.
Rael sat across from them, back rigid, fingers digging into the earth like he could anchor himself. He hadn't slept in 36 hours. The weight of guilt, hope, and fear gnawed at his chest like rats in a cage.
"She's slipping," he murmured to Zeke. "She's trying to hold on, but…"
"But she's losing," Zeke finished, his voice low. "We all are."
Mira began clawing at her own forearm, digging deep enough to draw blood.
Rael rushed forward, grabbing her hands. "Stop! You're here. With us. Look at me!"
Her eyes met his—and for just a second, they were not Mira's.
"You should have let me die," she whispered in a voice too deep, too cold.
SCENE 3: THE FOG — SOMETHING HUNTS
That night, a strange fog descended on the camp. Not natural. It smelled of rust and mold, like ancient corpses left to rot in sealed vaults.
Nomads whispered warnings:
"The Zone breathes."
"The fog is memory made flesh."
"Do not go alone."
But Rael couldn't sleep. He heard Mira's voice outside the tent.
Only… Mira was inside.
He stepped into the mist, drawn by her echo.
"Rael…"
The fog thickened. Shadows slithered just beyond vision—some with too many limbs, others with faces carved from screaming stone.
Suddenly, Rael stumbled upon… his childhood bedroom.
It was perfect. Dustless. Frozen in time. His parents' voices echoed faintly, gentle, familiar.
He fell to his knees.
"It's not real," he whispered. "It's not real—"
A version of Mira stood in the doorway, her head slowly rotating the wrong way, bones cracking with every twitch.
"This could be peace. Stay."
"You don't deserve pain."
"Just let go…"
She reached toward him with blackened
fingers.
Rael screamed and ran.
SCENE 4: GHOSTS & FIRE — THE INNER WAR
Back at the camp, Zeke sat by the flames, jaw clenched, fists trembling. Visions danced in the flames — his younger brother, the day he died in Dominion's labs.
"You couldn't save him."
Zeke screamed, launching a fireball into the forest.
Silence.
Then… distant laughter.
Nova tried to pull him back.
"Zeke, you're slipping. You're seeing things—"
"They're not just in my head! This place feeds on trauma!"
Suddenly, dozens of nomads began convulsing. Screaming. Some dropped dead. Others… changed.
Twisted into things with mouths on their palms and eyes in their chests.
"Oh my God," Nova gasped. "The Zone isn't just haunted. It's alive. And it's using us."
SCENE 5: KARA'S WARNING — BLOOD FOR THE ZONE
Kara dragged Rael and Mira to a sacred burial mound covered in bone charms and scorched leaves.
"This place doesn't forget," she said grimly. "It remembers what we did, what we fear, and turns it into flesh. It's not enough to survive here. You have to bleed something you love."
Rael's throat tightened. "You're saying it demands sacrifice?"
Kara nodded. "And it wants her."
All eyes turned to Mira, shivering and wide-eyed.
"She's connected. A gate. And it's waking."
Rael stepped forward, shielding her. "Then it'll have to take me too."
