I didn't realize how much those words would have an effect on me. I was so used to being the unimportant one. Some part of me was relieved to know he wouldn't fully trust the sect.
I wanted him to question things. Not acting like he was brainwashed. I wanted him to see the truth even if it seemed impossible.
I turned to Riven, and he must have noticed the look in my eyes. I needed to ask him something privately.
He understood. He says calmly, "Sonny, I need to speak to you privately."
Killain furrows his brow. "Can't you just say it here?"
I let my hands grab his shoulder. "Don't worry. I'll just hear him out."
He seemed to want to say something. But he didn't. He watched me walk away with Riven, and we made sure we were far away so he couldn't hear our conversation.
Riven glanced at me with curiosity in his eyes. "What's so important that you have to tell me privately?"
