Chapter 142 - Chapter 142 — The Skyblade-Series Warships: The Terror of Angelic Technology

But the worlds are different; every world has its own system of power.

In the vast majority of worlds, either technology suppresses the mysterious, or the mysterious suppresses technology. Even where the two complement each other, one is inevitably fated to serve as an auxiliary to the other.

Roxie Vale's high-martial world was just such a case. Technology existed there, but with the emergence of aura, many formulas changed; merely maintaining a technological system at its former level was no longer easy—let alone pioneering a path that fused aura with technology.

Even though the aura in Brandon White's world had not had a malign impact on current technology—and could even be integrated with it to spur the development of new tech—

Brandon could still see that for some time to come, technology would exist only in a supporting role; cultivation would become the main axis of this world.

The chief reason for this lay in the fact that humanity's present technology was not strong, while the mysterious system—though only just beginning—already stood not far behind humanity's present technological civilization.

Bear in mind that the revival of aura was still in its early phase; afterward there would be a third, even a fourth aura tide. By then, the mutant beasts and espers on Earth would become even more terrifying.

To respond to mutant lifeforms, human civilization would inevitably place greater emphasis on espers.

Of course, if technology could open a brand-new road and, upon the present foundation, take another step forward, then whether things would still unfold this way would become an unknown. But in all likelihood, this is still how it would go.

Once the Angelic Civilization gained access to the chat group, they learned about the mysterious systems of other worlds.

While ensuring the continuation of their original research into technology, they also began studying these mysterious systems, attempting to translate them into knowledge that technology could understand and articulate.

The process was not easy, yet they did make gains.

From chakra to Devil Fruits and even the Infinity Stones—after a brief pause, they achieved phased breakthroughs.

As Angel Zhixin put it, the Heavenly-Base King He Xi even discovered information within the architecture of the Infinity Stones that could optimize angelic genes.

The underlying reason was that the Angelic Civilization's technology had already reached the point where it could analyze the mysterious.

The ceilings of the chat group's various world-systems were very high, but their foundations were laid bare; starting from those foundations, the Angelic Civilization could extrapolate step by step, extending and converting them into knowledge belonging to angels.

If not for his exchanges with Angel Yan and Angel Zhixin, Brandon would not have had such a deep impression of the Angelic Civilization's power.

His understanding of the angels came from the anime Xiong Bing Lian (Super Seminary). Although the angels there were strong, they did not display overwhelming destructive power.

Even the divine bodies, which required massive consumption of resources to attain, could not destroy stars.

There were many highly destructive technologies, yes, but they were never truly shown.

Perhaps it was because of the plot. Perhaps the special effects were too expensive.

But whatever the reason, a great many people consequently misunderstood the Angelic Civilization—thinking this so-called strongest civilization was merely "like that," that their research capability topped out at star-killing—at most a planet a bit larger than most, and no more.

In reality, the Angelic Civilization's research capability went far beyond what the anime displayed.

Destroy a star?

Why stop there.

As the Angelic Civilization's mainline warships—high-end weapons that only angels of the Sacred Double Wings rank, or guardian-class angels, had the qualification to pilot—any vessel in the Skyblade Series could destroy the Solar System within a single day.

The Skyblade-Series warships were the most terrifying killing tools that could be brought to bear in a nebula-level war.

What is a nebula? What does a nebula-level war entail?

That shouldn't require further explanation.

If Brandon wished it, the Angelic Civilization could invest in Earth's civilization and share technology—helping Earth, in the shortest possible time, leave its homeworld behind and attain research capability no less than a mid-tier cosmic civilization.

Once at that point, what Earth would need was time—to digest the angels' assistance and transform those research materials into its own.

Of course, none of that would come without a price.

The Angelic Civilization was very interested in the aura of Brandon's world. In their research, aura possessed an exceedingly wondrous power; whether applied to chakra, to magic, or to the human body, it had a perfect capacity for conversion.

It was extremely gentle, rejecting no system of power—not even technology. For the Angelic Civilization, it was a force distinct from dark energy yet just as compatible with technology.

With sufficient aura, the angels might not be unable to advance to a higher plane.

Unfortunately, the Super God world was, in the end, a world of technology. Although they could use the chat group to purchase aura, while limited research was possible, large-scale use and experimentation were not—especially not if they wished to push their extrapolations of aura to a level on par with the Angelic Civilization's technological strength.

The aura required for that would be an astronomical figure—too dear a price for even the Angelic Civilization to bear.

Since the topic involved aura, there was quite a lot to discuss.

Brandon neither gave agreement nor expressed refusal. Regarding aura, the revival of aura, and the subsequent aura tides, he himself had many unknowns.

Before he could turn those unknowns into knowns, he would not agree.

That said, to be honest, he did covet the Angelic Civilization's technology.

After all, technology is part of nature as well. If Earth's technological civilization advanced to the level of the angels, his own strength would climb to an even more terrifying degree.

While Brandon and Angel Zhixin were conversing—

Many nations, by their various means, received word that an angelic being had descended.

In both West and East, many people who believed in God and in angels fell into a frenzy, convinced that this angel had been sent by God to save them.

There were others who believed this was most likely an esper's awakened ability—the power to transform oneself into an angel.

As for these notions, the upper echelons of Huaxia could only shake their heads with a wry smile.

If they knew that this angel was a being from another world, who knows what expressions they would make.

Probably incredulous.

Even they, when they first heard what Firewing said, could not bring themselves to believe it, holding instead to a skeptical attitude.

A platform that spanned the myriad heavens and worlds, enabling people from other worlds to converse—and to trade.

Characters from film and television, from anime, even from novels, appearing therein.

How many people who have completed nine years of compulsory education would readily believe something that sounds exactly like a novel?

As for what attitude they should adopt toward that angel—

It was obvious she had come for Brandon. Their attitude wasn't actually important.
