Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: The Witch's Request

After tormenting Sain every day, Amir's mind cleared. He even spray-painted patterns on Jax's motorcycle.

Another boring night without electronics followed, and Amir and Lango played Dejarik chess at Veronica's house. Under the holographic projection, eight miniature monster models tore each other apart in battle.

Amir's slug sprayed a burst of purple poison on the board, knocking down all four of Lango's large, battered little monsters.

"Hahaha, how about that? You should have used a healing gecko monster."

Lango frowned and gritted his teeth. "Let's play again!"

"No more, no more. We've been playing all night. It's boring." Amir flung his arms behind him and lay down on the sofa.

"I'll play! I'll play!" Jax immediately took over and started playing against Lango.

"What book are you reading?" Amir noticed Veronica holding an electronic screen and reading.

"Something about mechanics," Veronica said briefly.

Amir leaned over to read the title of the article. "A Portable Design for Anti-Vehicle Cannons with Low Energy Consumption: The Atga Series Turrets as an Example."

"You're not thinking of installing an anti-vehicle laser cannon on your left arm, are you?" That's impossible! Articles like this are just a scam!" Amir exclaimed in surprise.

"Not necessarily if you can use a stable nuclear core as a power source."

"Then you'll definitely be blown to pieces by your own left arm," Amir replied ruthlessly.

After a boring night, Amir felt an urge to recreate the games he remembered from his childhood. With nostalgia for his more entertaining past, he slowly fell asleep.

Also on Coruscant:

In a dark hall, three red beams flashed. Two of them constantly attacked another figure.

"Your training is still insufficient. The Empire doesn't need weak inquisitors." Accompanied by heavy breathing, a deep voice said, "Darth Vader swung his lightsaber with precision, easily deflecting the attacks of the two in front of him.

Despite their double-bladed lightsabers, all four beams were effortlessly blocked. He redirected their force toward their own allies.

Another attack came as the Seventh Sister swung her new lightsaber at Darth Vader.

This time, the Sith Lord did not play with them. His crimson lightsaber deftly struck the rear end of her double-bladed lightsaber, disrupting her balance. Before she could react, Vader's lightsaber spun forcefully around her grip, nearly causing her to lose her hold on the weapon.

Fear instantly filled the Seventh Sister's mind, but the man before her showed no mercy. The Sith Lord took a sudden step forward and lightly sliced upward with his crimson lightsaber.

"Ah!" The Seventh Sister let out an agonizing scream as her right hand was severed at the wrist and fell to the ground along with her lightsaber.

"Very good... Anger and fear will become your source of strength. Feel it deeply." Darth Vader turned to look at the Fifth Brother, who was standing nearby.

"I hear you encountered an interesting person?"

The Fifth Brother's towering frame trembled slightly as he spoke cautiously.

"Yes, Master Vader. According to our investigations, that person comes from a rebel organization."

In the morning, Amir finished a cup of fragrant milk tea and began his day's work by picking up a bread maker to repair.

At that moment, the door to the repair shop opened.

"Welcome," Pierre said as he looked up. "Oh, it's you, Miss Witch."

Amir finally looked up and saw the young girl in black robes before him.

"Mr. Amir, please help us!" Gulina knelt down and shouted in a hoarse voice.

"What happened?" Amir stopped what he was doing.

"I'm worried about Mr. Hak and the others. I was thinking about how I could help them, so I borrowed the Forest God's power of foresight..."

"I saw them. They were all swallowed by darkness. They..." Gulina suddenly clutched her head with both hands as if in great pain.

"Don't think about it anymore," said Amir, walking over to her and helping her sit down on the sofa. "Where are they now?"

Gulina's headache eased and she whispered, "They've already left. I heard they're at a converted factory in the industrial zone, Building 34."

"Don't worry. I'll go check it out." Amir stood up and walked into the warehouse to grab his gear: simple wrist guards, a lightsaber with no switch, a Clone Trooper helmet, and a blaster pistol.

As he stepped out of the warehouse, he noticed Gulina standing at the door.

"I've caused you so much trouble. There's nothing I can do to repay you. Please accept this." The witch removed her hood to reveal golden hair and raised her hands to take a pendant from around her neck.

The pendant was thumb-sized with green threads wrapped around a translucent green crystal.

"This was given to me by my mother. It's said to be a gift from the Forest God." She handed the crystal to Amir. "You don't need to worry about it. This is also its wish. I can feel it. I've been keeping it to myself out of selfishness."

"What is this?" Amir took the green crystal, unsure if it was an illusion. He seemed to see a flickering light within it, as if it were a heart beating.

"Kaber crystal!"

It was the most crucial component of a lightsaber, capable of channeling energy from the battery into a blade-shaped beam. According to legend, the crystal could also enhance one's perception of the Force by collecting and amplifying it.

Although Amir had already "found" two lightsabers, he had never felt such a glow or pulsation from the kyber crystals inside them.

Amir didn't hesitate and took the crystal. After Amir took the crystal, Gulina felt a sense of relief.

"I'll go now.

"Be careful."

As Amir walked past the workshop, Pierre gave him an encouraging look.

At that moment, Amir noticed Veronica standing at the door with her arms crossed over her chest. She was leaning against the doorframe with her red hair tied back with a hairband.

"Count me in," she said.

Amir knew it was useless to try to stop her, so he said to Gulina, "Give her your cloak."

The witch took off her robe and helped Veronica put it on; the large hood concealed the redheaded girl's face.

Veronica mounted her motorcycle, and the two set off for the upper levels, the wind rustling their clothes.

Amir placed the Kyber crystal around his neck.

Through it, he seemed to hear gunfire.
