Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The Underground Arena

Lango felt an itching sensation on his face.

He slowly opened his eyes and saw a furry arm.

Wait, furry?

"ROAR!"

A loud roar echoed in his ears, instantly waking him up.

He tried to sit up, but his entire body was still numb and aching from the effort.

When he finally opened his eyes wide, he saw the source of the roar: a tall Wookiee sitting cross-legged on the ground and holding his head.

Lango had heard Amir mention this species many times before. If he remembered correctly, they were gentle creatures as long as you didn't show them hostility.

So he tried to greet it.

"Hello?"

"ROAR!"

Covered in saliva, Lango resignedly closed his eyes and welcomed the rare rain on Coruscant.

When the Wookiee finished speaking, Lango slowly raised his head and looked around at the pitch-black surroundings. He could vaguely make out that they were inside a massive shipping container with only himself and the Wookiee inside.

Lango began to think about how to escape. The small knife he had been carrying was gone, and these Trandoshans wouldn't leave such an obvious opening.

His only potential ally was unable to communicate due to the language barrier, so it was impossible to even ask for information.

Add to that the fact that his body ached with every movement, and he felt utterly hopeless.

All he could do was wait for his strength to return and look for an opportunity to escape.

Reaching out with all his strength, he tried to pull a vial of medicine prepared by Amir from the lining of his clothes. However, the vial fell to the ground along with a packet of nutrient paste.

A furry hand reached out, picked up the syringe, and injected it into his left arm. Lango looked at the unfamiliar Wookiee with gratitude, clenched his teeth, and slowly relaxed his body. The previous action had drained all his strength.

Suddenly, the ear pressed against the Wookiee's stomach heard a loud bang.

Lango jumped in surprise, then realized it was the sound of the Wookiee's stomach growling.

"Roar~" The Wookiee blushed, let out a soft growl, and reached up to stroke his furry head.

Lango didn't know how to get the Wookiee to accept the nutrition gel on the ground. He held his breath and reached out as hard as he could to pick it up and give it to the Wookiee. Instead, he accidentally touched something that felt like a chain.

This Wookiee was imprisoned.

Taking a deep breath, Lango picked up the paste and handed it to the Wookiee. The furry giant growled again, no longer hesitating, and swallowed the entire piece in one gulp.

"Roar~!" Lango heard joy in the sound.

Unable to resist, the pain-wracked Farlin cracked a smile.

"Clang!" The container door swung open and several Trandoshan guards entered, wielding electric batons. One of them jabbed the high-voltage device directly into the Wookiee's body, causing the furry creature to scream in agony.

"Hurry up! Stop playing dead!" The other two guards grabbed Lango and dragged him toward the exit, forcing the Wookiee to follow.

Finally, Lango got a clear look at the brown Wookiee.

The surroundings were pitch-black, and distant lights were unable to illuminate the entire corridor, making their shadows blurry.

The guards opened an iron gate, threw Lango and the Wookiee inside, and slammed the door shut with force.

The iron plate floor was damp and cold. Lango lay there, clenching his teeth and enduring the sudden pain.

The Wookiee, who was chained up, sat on the ground and lifted Lango up, leaning him against himself.

"Thank you," Lango gasped.

Time passed, and the only sounds in the room were their breathing.

"Be careful if you go to Tatooine. I heard it's full of criminals, and there are frequent riots," Pierre said.

In the workshop, several people were eating dinner when Amir mentioned his plan to go to Tatooine.

Veronica finished her cup of beast milk and leaned back on the sofa. "It's fine. The criminals are the ones who should be worried."

"Haha, Veronica is still so reliable," Sain laughed loudly, earning a glare from her.

"Lango probably wants to go, too. Where is he? He hasn't shown up all day," Amir asked.

"I don't know! I sent him a message, but he didn't respond," said Jax, who had already finished dinner and gone to study robots.

"He's not taking on another job behind our backs, is he?" Veronica speculated.

"I don't think so. I didn't see him at the port today," Amir thought.

"Was Lango swallowed by the port ghost?" Jax said in shock.

"Where did you hear that ghost story?" Amir said helplessly. "Let's go to his house and look for him after we finish eating."

The three of them rode their motorcycles toward the residential area and soon stopped in front of a small house.

Lango had grown up alone since childhood. He had a grandfather when he was young, but he disappeared.

They knocked on the door, but there was no response.

Amir gradually sensed that something was wrong.

"Let's split up and search! Something must have happened!" Amir said, frowning, "I'll check the port area. Veronica, you go to the bar. Jax, you go to our usual spot. If you find any clues, contact us immediately."

Everyone realized the severity of the situation after speaking and rushed toward their respective areas without hesitation.

The port was bustling at night with countless cargo ships loading and unloading goods and robots and workers busy at work.

Amir arrived at the area where Lango usually hung out and found a management robot.

"Hello? I'd like to ask about a worker who usually works here," Amir said politely.

"Worker? There are thousands of workers here, and they change every day!" the maintenance robot replied arrogantly.

Amir grew impatient and pulled out a credit point, extending it toward the maintenance robot's storage compartment.

The storage compartment swiftly opened and swallowed the credit point.

"Ha ha, a worker, huh? I know every single worker here. Go ahead. What's his name?"

"Lango, a Farlinian."

"Oh! Let me check," the robot said, freezing as it searched its database. "Lango, Lango, oh! Here he is. He was responsible for a shipment from..." The origin is encrypted, and there are no further work records after that!"

"The recipient? Where is the recipient?"

"Oh, well, we can't disclose the recipient's information. That's our..."

Amir extended another credit point.

"Oh! Cough, cough. Of course, we can't disclose that information in most cases." The robot placed its arm on its head and tapped it twice, as if to cover its embarrassment. Then it continued, "The recipient—oh! Here it is."

"It's Stacy Bradley!"

"Mrs. Bradley from the underground arena!"
