Chapter 12: Whispers of Whiplash and a Russian Revelation
While Tony Stark was busy poisoning himself and Justin Hammer was busy humiliating himself, another, far more dangerous threat was brewing. Ivan Vanko. Adam had seen the news snippets, the vague reports of a brilliant, vengeful Russian physicist. He knew what was coming: Whiplash. And he knew Natasha Romanoff, the Black Widow, was already on the scene, disguised as Tony's new assistant, Natalie Rushman.
"Time to do some intel gathering. And maybe mess with the spy a little. She always looks so… stoic. Needs a good dose of chaos."

He used a low-cost wish to get a "hunch" about Vanko's progress. Suddenly, a news report about a "mysterious electrical surge" in a remote Russian workshop caught his eye. The accompanying image, blurry as it was, showed a workbench littered with what looked suspiciously like arc reactor components. "Bingo. The bird is building his nest."

He imagined Vanko, mid-weld, suddenly having his plasma cutter sputter and spark harmlessly, making him curse in Russian. "Just a little something to keep you on your toes, Ivan. And to remind you that the universe has a sense of humor, even if you don't."
Then there was Natalie Rushman. Natasha. She was everywhere, a perfectly poised, impossibly efficient assistant. Adam found her dedication to her cover admirable, but also ripe for some subtle subversion. He imagined her, late at night, meticulously organizing Tony's chaotic files, looking for S.H.I.E.L.D. intel.

He pictured her typing a crucial report, only for the "A" key to suddenly become "Z," and the "Q" key to become "P." Her perfect, unreadable poker face would probably twitch. Just a little. "It's the little things that break a spy, you know? Not the explosions. The alphabetized keyboards."
His own personal life, however, was a sanctuary of genuine affection. He and May were planning a picnic. A simple, charming affair in Central Park. But Adam had a few tricks up his sleeve to make it perfect.

The day of the picnic was glorious. The sun shone, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and not a single mosquito dared to approach their blanket. May sighed contentedly, biting into a sandwich. "Oh, Adam, this is just perfect. Not a cloud in the sky, and not a single bug. It's like the universe is smiling on us."
"Must be your charm, May," Adam said, winking. "Or my System. But let's go with your charm. It's more romantic."
He watched her, truly happy, and a warmth spread through him. He was a secret agent of chaos, a cosmic prankster, but he was also just a guy who loved his girlfriend and wanted to make her happy. And if a few strategically placed wishes could do that, then he was all for it.
"Alright, Vanko. Natasha. You two can plot and spy all you want. I'll be here, making sure the world stays just weird enough to be interesting. And my girlfriend stays happy."
