2010. One Year After the Python Outbreak
an infected appears and attacks Mina as Andrew turns.
Andrew: Mina!
Mina manages to throw the infected off, before Andrew pulls out a knife and stabs the infected in the head, killing it. Andrew recovers, before he turns back to Mina, who gives a saddened look as it is revealed that Mina was bitten on the wrist.
Andrew: Oh, god....Oh, fuck! Mina....Mina.....
Mina: Andrew....you know what you have to do.....Just....before you do it, please take me to see my sons....one last time....
Andrew looks down at his knife and ponders for a minute, before he turns and stabs the infected in the head, covering the tip of the blade with it's blood. Andrew then turns to Mina, before he then walks to the jeep. A frantic Mina follows Andrew.
Mina: Andrew....what are you doing? Andrew?!
Andrew walks over to the drivers side of the jeep, before Mina attempts to open the passenger door, but it is locked.
Mina: Andrew, what are you doing?
Andrew sighs.
Mina: Andrew....what is this?
Andrew: I can't kill you.....I won't kill you....but I can't bring you back either. If I do, if Ryder finds out I smuggled an infected person back into a Kronos outpost, he'll have you killed....then he'll have me arrested and tried....possibly executed....then what happens to the boys? Our sons?
Mina: I can handle Ryder.
Andrew: What about everyone else in the outpost? What will they think? And even if I did bring you back, if everyone dies of the horrors of the wasteland because of your infection, and it's just the two of us....you turn....with our boys...
Andrew points to himself.
Andrew: My sons.....my, MY children....I can't have that. I won't.
Mina is on the verge of tears, unable to believe what she's hearing.
Mina: Andrew, it's me. Your wife. The mother of your children....Jake and Kyle...they're-they're my children, too.....no one else has to know about this....You're just going to choose this because it's easier for you?
Andrew: I'm making this decision for my sons if they know that their mother turned into an infected.
Mina: So....what? You're just gonna leave me in the wasteland? Hoping to God that some infected or bandit doesn't do me in, knowing in the back of your head that I'll turn into one of those animals? All because you can't do it your fucking yourself?!
Andrew looks away and Mina wipes away her tears.
Mina: If you think I'm not going to see my sons one last time, Andrew....fuck....at least bring them to me to say goodbye...
Andrew: You want me to bring two children to you? Out here? In the apocalypse? Are you fucking crazy? Jake is just a boy. Kyle is just a baby.
Mina: They're my children, too, Andrew. They're my sons, too. What are you going to tell them?
Andrew: Goddammit....
Mina: Andrew, please....you can't.....this world....what it is now....those boys need a mother..
Andrew: I'll keep them safe...You have my word.....
Mina: That's not enough....that's not—
Andrew pulls out his sidearm and aims it at Mina, halting her in her tracks.
Andrew: I'm sorry, Mina....I truly am....
Mina shakes her head in disbelief, before Andrew steps into the jeep, but before he closes the door, he turns his head to his wife, one last time.
Andrew: I love you....please know that.....and I'll let our sons know how much you loved them.
Andrew closes the door and drives off, leaving Mina in the wasteland. Mina sighs, before crying and looking at her bite mark. Within months, Mina wanders out into the wasteland, trying to survive by eating Ratclaws, rats and other animals. Within years, Mina has completely lost her sanity.
2028
Hiding in an abandoned Home Depot during a storm, Mina stares at her bite mark and then gives an angered look. Mina then goes on a rage, takes a crowbar and begins to bash in the vases and pots around her.
Mina: Andrew....Fuck you, Andrew....Andrew! Fuck you, Andrew! You left me! You fucking left me! You left me to die in hell! Fuck you! Fuck! You fucking coward! All cause you couldn't fucking kill me! Fuck!
Mina throws the crowbar and then falls to the ground, exhausted. Suddenly, two Zeus Corps Soldiers appear and stare down at Mina.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Is this who was making all that racket?
Zeus Corps Soldier: Fuck if I know....
Zeus Corps Soldier: Hey, look. She's got a bite mark.....
The Zeus Corps Soldier points out Mina's bite mark.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Guess this infected was unlucky.....
Zeus Corps Soldier: Hey, hey, hey...
The Zeus Corps Soldier aims his rifle, preparing to execute Mina, but the other soldier stops him.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Hey, hey, stop....No....look....at the bite.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Yeah....it's a bite...which is why I'm putting her down.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Look closer at the bite, dumbass. It's years old.
The two Zeus Corps Soldiers look closer at Mina's bite.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Fuck....
Zeus Corps Soldier: You think she's immune?
Zeus Corps Soldier: Bullshit...
Zeus Corps Soldier: Well, let's see if she speaks English.
The Zeus Corps Soldier kicks Mina.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Hey, lady....you speak English? You understand the words out my mouth? Yeah?
Mina stares at the men and for a while, does not respond.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Yeah, she's definitely not human anymore.....
The Zeus Corps Soldier aims his rifle at Mina, who then begins to speak.
Mina: Please....Please....
The Zeus Corps Soldiers stare at Mina with amazement and shock.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Holy shit....
The two Zeus Corps Soldiers then bring Mina to a Kronos science outpost. Todds steps out of the entrance and approaches the Zeus Corps truck just as the soldiers and Mina step out.
Todds: Gentlemen, what are you doing with this woman? Why bring her back?
Zeus Corp Soldier: It's just.....we had to show you this.
The Zeus Cops Soldiers present Mina's bite mark to Todds, who looks up at Mina and smiles.
Todds: Well, that's certainly interesting.
A few days later, Mina is strapped to a gurney with Todds and Kronos scientists examining and studying Mina.
Todds: Interesting...it seems that she has the very first Python strain in her....this woman was afflicted with cancer a long time ago, in 2004, but the Python strain not only cured her cancer, but created very strong cells that are similar to radioactive fluid cells. It makes her immune to the infected....we have to continue researching and studying her.....this could be the next stage of a great evolution.
2030. Eight months after the fall of Kronos.
Mina is in a cell as Todds stares at her.
Todds: I must say, Mrs. Desipich....your immunity to the strain that has destroyed the world is truly remarkable....you could be our key to this....you could be our way back home.....
Mina laughs.
Mina: Don't you understand? I'm not human....not anymore....Humans....have always destroyed the world...even before the nukes fell out of the sky....so....I'm not going have any pity on you.
Mina stares up at Todds.
Mina: When I watch you die....
A Kronos scientist approaches Todds.
Kronos Scientist: Sir....I have something you need to see....
Todds turns to Mina, before turning back with the Kronos scientist.
Todds: What are the results?
Kronos Scientist: Well, sir, those Zeus Corps Soldiers from the Prime Kronos facility that we caught.....we think we might have a way to advance their genes.....cure them from the Blood Lung completely....We've taken a sample from a former Zeus Corps commander, Jack Barnes...and we've combined with Subject 0's blood.....
Todds: That's good....
Kronos Scientist: Yes...but there's a catch.....the Blood Lung will be cured....but their DNA will be completely reconstructed....their muscles....and these soldiers all have blood lung.
Todds: What are you suggesting?
Kronos Scientist: Well, sir....they would be completely mutated....probably into something worse.
Todd nods.
Todds: Well, never too late to try anything new.....who knows? This mutation can be a step forward.
Todds walks away as the Kronos Scientist gives a sigh. Days later, Jackal is strapped to a gurney with Todds and other Kronos scientists present in the room.
Todds: This will be the first. Former Zeus Corps Soldier. Subject name; Darnel Jackson also known as Jackal. Served for ten years in the Zeus Corps Military. His admiration and military background will prove useful in this mutated army.
Todds turns to the Kronos scientist, who reluctantly injects Jackal with the combined serum of Mina's and Barnes' blood. Jackal screams in pain as he then begins to mutate viciously into a gruesome creature. The mutated Jackal breaks from his restraints and looks down at his mutated hands.
Jackal: What the fuck?
Jackal then looks in the mirror at his mutated appearance as Todds laughs.
Todds: Splendid. Absolutely splendid.
Jackal turns then begins to lash out, killing a few scientists. A few Zeus Corps Soldiers move in, attempting to restrain or shoot him.
Todds: No, don't! Don't shoot! Don't kill him!
The mutated Jackal overpowers and kills a few Zeus Corps Soldiers by breaking their necks or ripping their bodies apart. Eventually, Zeus Corps Soldiers are able to incapacitate the mutated Jackal as Todds claps.
Todds: Excellent! Bring in the other soldiers!
Kronos Scientist: Todds, did you not see what just happened?! We'll be creating a monster army with this! How will we control them?!
Todds: We eventually will!
As time passes by, eventually few of the former Prime Zeus Corps Soldiers are injected with the combined blood of Barnes and Mina, leading to their mutations.
December 2030.
Two Zeus Corps Soldiers are patrolling the newly created mutated army in their cells.
Zeus Corps Soldiers: Jesus....Todds created a goddamn mess....
Zeus Corps Soldier: Yeah, look at em....they're not even human anymore, they're fucking monsters....part of me says put the tainted bastards down.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Todds has some sort of vision for em....
The two Zeus Corps Soldiers stop at Mina's cell.
Zeus Corps Soldier: All thanks to that freak soldier and this fucking bitch.
Zeus Corps Soldier: You really think she's immune?
Zeus Corps Soldier: To the strain, yes, but she can still get killed by bullets and knives....she's still human.
Mina looks up at the cell, staring at the Zeus Corps Soldiers.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Shit, I wonder if her brain is still intact.
Mina stands up on her feet and smiles.
Mina: You soldiers presume too much to think that I'm just some ordinary freak....
Zeus Corps Soldier: Well, lady, from what I've seen, you're definitely a freak.....
The Zeus Corps Soldier turns to the other soldier.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Seriously, Harris and Atilla should've put this bitch down.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Don't know why.
Zeus Corps Soldier: She's immune.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Maybe something pretty for the boys to look at.
The two Zeus Corps Soldiers laugh, before suddenly, Mina lunges at the cell bars, grabbing one of the Zeus Corps Soldiers.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Hey, let me go! Hey! Hey!
Zeus Corps Soldier: Hey! Let him go! I said let him go!
After a brief struggle, the other Zeus Corps Soldier hits Mina in the temple with the butt of his assault rifle, incapacitating her.
Zeus Corps Soldier: Jesus Christ! Crazy bitch!
The Zeus Corps Soldier turns to the other soldier.
Zeus Corps Soldier: You good?
Zeus Corps Soldier: Yeah....fuck me.
The two Zeus Corps Soldiers leave, before Mina laughs, revealing the Zeus Corps Soldiers bayonet in her hand. Later on, she uses the bayonet to unlock the cell and pushes it open. Mina then walks into the head Kronos Scientists lab, finding him writing some papers.
Kronos Scientist: In a minute, Todds, I'm working on some last minute tasks....
The head Kronos Scientist then looks up at Mina, shocked.
Kronos Scientist: Hey! What are you doing out of your—
Mina slits the Kronos Scientists throat and steals his badge, before going over to the rest of the mutated armies cells including Jackal's and releasing them. The mutated Jackal walks up to Mina, who stares up at him.
Jackal: You....are like us.
Mina: I am....want your revenge on these men? Here's your chance to take it.
Within ours, the mutated army overpowers and kills most of the outpost staff and soldiers with Mina and the mutated army cornering Todds.
Todds: Please....please...think about this.....I've cured you all of Blood Lung! I gave you a chance! You're all going to live because of me!
Todds turns to Mina.
Todds: Mina, you've created something incredible....think of what else more we could create if we work together.
Mina: I will create a better army for this world....but without Kronos...and without you.
Mina nods to the mutated Jackal, who moves in on Todds.
Todds: Wait, wait! Mina! There is something. You should know. It was your son, who's the reason for these soldiers exile....yes, Kyle.....he's still alive....if you spare me, I'll take you to go see him....you can see your sons again.
Mina glares at Todds.
Mina: My sons....are creations of my former husband who abandoned me in the wasteland to die....all of my husband's legacy must die...even his children....
The mutated Jackal then grabs Todds by the throat and then after a struggle, rips his throat out. Todds then proceeds to choke on his own blood as Mina turns to the mutated army and Jackal.
Mina: My fellow brothers and sisters....you are no longer human....we are no longer human.....we are deemed outcasts....freaks....condemned to be like this for the rest of our lives.....so that is what we shall be; Condemned.
