In case you haven't read the previous chapter it is too late I'm moving on. So the story will follow the protagonist and his name is Kalis G. Enyx. Let's call him Kalis, for the sake of moving on.
Little Kalis was born on the second planet of the Aurelian federation named Verona. Much like Aurelia, Verona it was a greenlike unpolluted (yet) planet. But for some reason there was no water on it despite its massive vegetation. The secret being a massive river network under earth constantly nuture giant who grew trees to the surface. Kalis was quite the normal kid, he goes to school, he got friends, he got a crush he never confessed to until she date his best friend. He got dreams like any over kids but mostly the unrealistic one, becoming a Dinosaurs or growing up as a Shark. Space battle and naval engagement was not really on his mind until one day a video game release on the shop. It was called ''Call of Starship: Space Warfare''. A VR simulation game that put you in the shoes on an Aurelian Federal Soldier during a fictional conflict against the North Star Empire. An absolute banger, the kids love it, the parents thought it was too violent, the Auranet (Aurelian Internet) was flood with videos and clips of the campaign. The game was so successful it become number one selling game in the primordial Galaxy, but got banned in the empire dismissed as Aurelian Propaganda.
While most Kids enjoy this new experience as the goat of the year, another game got kid Kalis attention. ''Age of the galactic empire''. A VR RTS where you can incarnate the civilisation of your choice among others. The goal is simple, manage your fleet, build your empire and the first civilisation with 50 planets under its belt win. Kalis discover the joy of management, base building, but mostly CRUSHING your enemies into submission. That was his thing, especially the Domination mode where you can force them to surrender once if you obliterate a sufficient number of troops. Well of course. AOGE flop, mostly because it was released the same year as COS, so the studio goes bankrupt and left only few copy in circulation. And one of them was in Kid Kalis Hand. He beat the game so many times he start dreaming of Starship battleplan, he could name every weapon, units and starship from any military and civilization.
So of course when they asked him at school what he wanted to become he genuinely answered:
''I Want to become The Great Admiral of the Aurelian Empire''
Confused the Teacher Replied
''Kalis how to tell you... We are not an Empire''.
The kid blink twice in absolute confusion
''And the highest rank in the federal navy is fleet Admiral'' Answered Norton.
Norton Northrop Norfolk or just Norton is the know it all kid of the class. He always get the good marks in anything science related, kinda get decent marks in litterature but is a bum when you have to lift something heavier than a chair.
''How can you tell ? You are just a kid'' Said young kalis frustrated
To which Norton will answer by saying the most shocking thing Kalis will ever heard in his life
''My Father is Vorena Orbital Commander''
Which translate in Kalis mind by
''My father is an Admiral''
At first he was admirative, but seeing how Norton was a jerk he instantly get mad and jealous. All his knowledge he got from the military come from a video game, but this kid right there was more legit since he actually live under an Admiral Household. He could not bear the thought that the blood of an Admiral flow on this cocky kid vein. That day when he got back home he look at his father, a Ship designer with a disguted face
''Pathetic''
His father was rather surprised because he lack the vast context behind what going on inside his kid brain.
''Kalis ? Son ? What going on ?''
''Why aren't you an Admiral ?'' The kid Yelled
Then he run and go crying under his bed like he never did, it was truly heartbreaking..... For him at least the world still goes on and his father never knew how much a disappointment he was to his son for something he didn't even have control on. Yet You must understand that since that fateful day he makes the vow to achieve his new goal, to become THE ADMIRAL.
Aurelia is not an Empire ? Okay then he will become the «Fleet Admiral of the Aurelian Federation».
Damn i should rewrite the title now... anyway moving on.
The first idea that come to Kalis mind was to enlist now in the military. 60 year prior it would be possible, all he would have to do was going to the local Clinic, get an enhanced body and pretend to be way older than he is. Unfortunately since the new emperor (Leader) made it illegal to give bio enhancement to the general population peoples are just no longer allowed to get implant ships, bio enhancement and any body modification until you reach your 20. Even then you'll have to justify why you need such implant like ''I am a street cop and i need a delta ray on my arm'' and stuff like that. Such practice was considered against freedom of Body Possession and highly criticize by many nation across the Prime galaxy to which emperor (Leader) Aurelius answered.
''At least my people still got a body to not possess''.
So, with that shitty law in place Kalis is left with only one option, wait until he reaches the legal age of enlistment. Which is 15. Yeah The Aurelian federation don't trust you enough to get a missile inside your arm until you reach 20 but trust you to handle weapon of mass destruction when you get 15. So young Kalis do that, he wait until he eventually reach 15. During that time period he made a lot of research, learn about the federation, learn about history to understand what was inaccurate in the game (still play it) and what was not. He got interested in space politics, learned the name of the leaders, you know not the things a normal Teenager would not do but definitely what a future Admiral would. His father encourage him since he have never been enthusiast in anything like that, and his mother just follow since she thought he would just abandon and become normal. But the kid don't want to be normal he want to be... you know what he want to be.
Anyway on the spring of his 15 he finally reach the legal age of enlistment, he didn't even attend his birthday party he run straight to the local army recruiter and ask to join. To which the recruiter just answered.
''there is no admiral in the Army''.
The kid got confused, then move to another recruiter office, same answer but this time he add
''You'll never be admiral if you just go to the local office, only be a lower enlist Petty officer or Master Chief at best''.
Yeah the kid definitely didn't made a lot more research about Aurelian recruitment process work. After that serie of disappointment he got sad, go back home and cry under his bed like it was the end of the world. His father then shows up but young Kalis was actually in the middle of an internal Crisis.
''Happy Birthday champ'' His father said
''Leave me aloooone'' He yelled
His dad smile and then sat before him.
''You know i have a gift for you''.
''I don't want Space warfare two. I didn't even finish the first campaign''.
''You know that your father is a Ship designer dont You ?''
The kid look at him with extreeeme disappointment and dive his head under his pillow. Mister Enyx got confused but continue anyway.
''Lately I've got an order from the Aurelian navy and design a ship for them. A space carrier for interceptor.''
''hoorraaay'' said the kid with the enthusiasm of a brick.
''Hm hm. Anyway i talk about you to that officer which happen to know the guy in charge of the federation naval academy, so he wrote a letter of recommendation with your name on it so you can....''
He didn't event finish what he was saying that the kid come out of his bed and grab him so hard he almost broke his bone. That day young Kalis looked at his father with an amount of pride he never had before.
''You are the best dad on the galaxy''
At this point mister Enyx who spend the last 8 year trying to get his kid attention could have died in peace.
So in the year 120 of Aurelian Calendar, Kalis Enyx join the Aurelian Federation Naval Academy.
