Chapter 14: The Astonished Crowd, the Rock Adventurer Team
Nfirea Bale turned his head in a daze, having heard a sound from behind him.
The four adventurers nearby had already noticed Tang Zheng walking over, but they initially paid him no mind, thinking he was just passing by.
Unexpectedly, Tang Zheng came directly over to them.
The four of them fixed their gazes on Tang Zheng, observing him.
They had just accepted a quest, and while attacks on clients were highly unlikely within the Adventurer's Guild, they still had to maintain their vigilance.
"It's you?"
Nfirea Bale's bright blue eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Tang Zheng, clearly recognizing the person he had met on the road earlier.
After all, black hair was so rare it was hard not to recognize him.
"Thank you for the water pouch," Tang Zheng said softly with a smile.
"You're welcome. I'm just glad I could help."
Nfirea Bale noticed the water pouch hanging from Tang Zheng's waist and scratched his head in embarrassment.
Tang Zheng spoke to Nfirea Bale, his gaze shifting to the four adventurers beside him. "Pardon me, I overheard your conversation. You're heading to E-Rantel, right? I wonder if I could join you?"
At these words, everyone froze for a moment.
A hesitant look crossed Nfirea Bale's face. He didn't mind, but the matter required his grandmother's consent.
As for the other four adventurers, their expressions didn't change, but their impassiveness was an answer in itself.
Tang Zheng had anticipated this. He had already noticed that the four-person adventurer team had a problematic role composition.
"I know that was a bit abrupt."
"However..." Tang Zheng paused, then raised his palm and softly spoke, "Light Wound Healing."
A soft white light emerged from his palm, radiating a warm glow!
The four previously expressionless adventurers' eyes lit up in unison, their gazes filled with shock and disbelief.
"A faith-based magic caster?"
One of them even let out a small gasp.
Tang Zheng's sudden display of healing magic immediately drew the gazes of many people in the Adventurer's Guild hall.
In the world of Overlord, classes are generally divided into two main categories: warrior classes and caster classes.
Warrior classes are further subdivided into combat, defensive, archer, and rogue types, among others.
Casters are subdivided into four main types: arcane, faith, psionic, and other.
In the perception of this world's people, casters with healing abilities are generally considered to be faith-based magic casters.
Being an adventurer is a dangerous line of work. Combat is a likely outcome on most quests.
Once injured, if even a minor wound isn't treated promptly, it could very well lead to death, or even amputation.
This has led to adventurers always carrying their own healing potions, regardless of their financial situation. Even though such potions are expensive, they are a necessity.
Of course!
If a team has a caster capable of using healing magic, it not only saves money but also vastly increases the team's survival rate.
But faith-based magic casters are far rarer than arcane-type magic casters!
In the game, there was no distinction; all magic casters consumed the same resource, MP.
In this new world, however, some of the game's background settings have become reality. Just as martial arts require the user to expend 'Concentration,' faith-based magic casters have a similar requirement.
Therefore, whenever a faith-based magic caster appeared, they would be courted by powerful adventurer teams, while weaker teams didn't even have the qualifications to make an offer.
Tang Zheng seemed not to notice the four adventurers' joyfully surprised gazes. After casting the spell, he nonchalantly drew the shortsword hanging at his waist.
"I also have some skill with a sword, so I won't be a burden."
As Tang Zheng spoke, his fingers moved, and the shortsword flipped nimbly in his hand, a display of practiced skill.
In reality, before watching the Royal Duels, Tang Zheng had been quite clumsy with a shortsword.
After all, he'd never practiced in his previous life.
However, after acquiring the [Sword Saint] class, he felt an indescribable familiarity with bladed weapons, as if he had trained with them for years.
Seeing his skilled handling of the shortsword, the others understood that Tang Zheng also possessed considerable combat skill.
Having done all this, Tang Zheng deftly sheathed the shortsword at his waist and then looked at Nfirea Bale and the others.
Noticing the adventurers' surprised and satisfied gazes, Tang Zheng breathed an inward sigh of relief. It seemed there would be no problem with joining the adventurer team.
"How amazing!"
Nfirea Bale couldn't help but widen his eyes, his bright blue gaze fixed on Tang Zheng as he exclaimed.
He never expected that the person he had casually helped was a faith-based magic caster who could use healing magic.
And he even seemed to have mastered impressive swordsmanship!
Is he a genius?
Judging by his clothes and appearance alone, it was completely unexpected.
His grandmother was right.
Just like with herbs, you can't judge them by their appearance!
At this moment, the captain of the four-man adventurer team, a blond man, walked over.
The man looked to be about twenty-four or twenty-five, with a lightly curled beard and a cheerful, open demeanor.
His upper body was clad in light armor, with no protection on his lower body, and a longsword was sheathed at each side of his waist.
Tang Zheng guessed he probably had a [Light Warrior] class.
"My name is Dosali, and these three are my good friends and fellow team members," Captain Dosali introduced with a beaming smile.
"I'm Bask."
"I'm Ler."
"Rand."
The other three introduced themselves in turn.
Tang Zheng looked at each of them; they were all around the same age. Although none of them introduced their classes, their attire suggested that this adventurer team not only lacked a healer but any kind of caster.
Ler and Rand looked similar, both with the same light-blond hair; they were likely twins. Each had a silver shield strapped to an arm.
The other, named Bask, was an archer.
"Our adventurer team is called The Rock. Just as the name suggests, we're quite proficient in defensive combat."
Dosali hadn't just introduced his members; he had proactively told Tang Zheng his team's specialty.
They hadn't shown this level of enthusiasm even to Nfirea Bale, their client!
Tang Zheng naturally knew the reason for their eagerness.
"My name is Tang," he said with a simple nod, saying nothing more.
"We have no problem on our end," Dosali said, still smiling widely as he glanced at Nfirea Bale.
His meaning was clear: it was fine with them as long as their client agreed.
