Rico watched as the pair of men in suits and glasses walked towards them. Rico pulled up John Ryan and whistled loudly. "Get down." He ordered the academic looking man. He ducked as the pair of men in suits raised their arms and suddenly strange devices appeared covering their arms.
The screaming began almost immediately from the other people. It would seem he was not alone in his shock. Rico pushed John Ryan to the ground and raised the silenced glock up and fired at the two men in suits.
Landing a bullet square in both of their foreheads. As soon as it hit, a burst of green burst out of their heads and they collapsed. He saw for a moment as their appearance changed to something in red robes and red armor. Then they turned back into humans in suits and glasses but they were bleeding green blood from their head.
Rico leaned down and pulled John Ryan up while he nodded at the person he was with. "Out the door. We have a few seconds before people start calling this in." Rico told them as he pushed John Ryan past the corpses and toward the door.
As they arrived at the door the borrowed truck pulled up with Coin in the driver seat. "What's with the extra?" She asked as Rico tossed John Ryan into the truck bed and then helped the academic man into the back.
"Made some sort of deal with John Ryan. I am guessing these people are as much here for him as they are for John Ryan." Rico explained as he jumped in the back. Just as a barrage of green lasers began landing around them. "Artemis!" Rico called as he turned toward the rooftop it was coming from.
He watched as one of the people shooting at him was decapitated by a spear. The other was only injured and spun around to only catch a bullet to the head. Artemis then jumped down off the roof and climbed into the back with them. Coin hit the acceleration and they were off.
"These are not human." Artemis pointed out looking at the green blood that was on her spear.
"Really? What gave it away? Was it the green blood? The weird lasers? Or was it the smell?" Rico asked with a chuckle as he fired at a pair of suited alien things who came out of an alley.
"Smell?" Artemis asked.
"Yeah, they smell like bad cologne." Rico answered with a chuckle before ducking down as another barrage of lasers hit the truck. Leaving it covered in scorch marks and damage.
"Who are you people?!?" John demanded as he cowered. The person that came with him was completely in the fetal position as he tried to make himself as small a target as possible.
"Mercenaries. We were sent to abduct you and bring you back to Gotham. Your entire company was killed and now the GCPD have some questions for you." Artemis informed him as they came skidding around a corner.
Rico cursed as he spotted a local police vehicle. He did not even think twice about it before he fired bullets through the front grill of the vehicle and into the engine block. Hopefully he managed to disable it. Because a second later there was another vehicle following them, it looked like a broken down jeep.
In the jeep were the suited men, which were just disguises for the aliens. They were following them and shooting with the lasers. The only reason they had not blown off a critical part of the truck was because of Coin's driving.
Rico aimed at the jeeps grill and fired. It should have been an easy shot but it just bounced off an open spot like it hit something that was not there. Rico blinked for a moment before cursing in a variety of languages.
"My company is dead? Who killed them?" John demanded as Rico was thinking of a plan to take down this jeep.
"They were tortured for information before they died. So I am guessing someone wanted to know what you were looking into." Rico answered as he noticed the same thing was happening when he tried to shoot the aliens. "Coin, get them to the plane. I think I am going to have to delay them and then steal a vehicle to reach the farm."
"Will you be okay on your own?" Coin asked as Rico stood up and tilted his head to dodge a laser.
"I will be fine." Rico answered as he hid the silenced glock. Then he ran toward the end of the truck bed and then jumped off toward the jeep. As he was in the air he began transforming into his Honey Badger were-transformation. He felt his size increase and knew that was more durable now. He did not get any stronger, but he was plenty strong anyways.
As he flew toward the vehicle disguised as a jeep he materialized the Amazonium Knuckle Dusters on his firsts. They seemed to have changed size as he did so and as he landed he punched forward.
BOOOM!
There was a shockwave as his fist met the front of the vehicle. Sand was thrown up in all directions as the camouflage device on the vehicle was disabled.
In place of the vehicle appeared some type of hover vehicle that was just a bit smaller than one lane. It was completely covered but it looked like some type of beetle. As for the occupants, he could partially see through the front window. One of them had launched forward and smacked their head into the window causing the head to cave in. Another was only shaking his head like he bumped it. While the driver was climbing out the side of the vehicle on shaking feet.
Rico looked over his shoulder and saw the truck with Coin had made it most of the way down the road. He would need to draw these creatures to him. But the only way to do that without knowing what they wanted would just be to expose them. So he moved to the side and grabbed the driver as he stepped out.
"&*^%&&&^!" The creature began yelling in panic as Rico held him up. He was sure in his were-transformation he looked like a monster but he did not mind. Rico reached up and grabbed at his chest before tearing off and the creature camouflage disabled. The creature seemed to realize something and pressed a button on its wrist. "Wait! Creature! We are not after you-!"
Rico ignored the aliens' pleas as he looked over the greenish blue skin of the creature. It did have the same red robes and armor while the weapon it had been using was some type of staff. A laser staff? He would have to grab a few for Gearbox to dissect.
