Chapter 131 - Chapter 131: Desperate Gamble

Natsu gathered all the magic power in his body and unleashed his signature move:

"Fire Dragon's Roar!"

A torrent of scorching flames erupted from his mouth, colliding violently with the falling lightning from above.

The resulting shockwave blasted outward, nearly destroying every structure in the vicinity.

Watching Natsu fight back so fiercely, Wes Elwin's lips curved into a meaningful smile.

"To grow this much in such a short time… Zeref's greatest masterpiece, the demon END, truly is fascinating."

Natsu gritted his teeth, glaring up at him with stubborn, burning defiance.

"I'm not losing to you again!"

"You brat—talk big after you survive this attack."

Before his words even faded, the once-calm clouds above surged and twisted, drawn together by a terrifying force.

In moments, they condensed into a massive thundercloud, with an intense, divine light pulsing within—its presence overwhelming like the wrath of a god.

Even Jellal, standing off to the side, couldn't help but admit:

"A normal mage couldn't hope to withstand this. Only a true powerhouse—someone on the level of the Ten Wizard Saints—could face that head-on."

"Everyone, move—!!"

Seeing what was coming, Erza shouted with all her strength and attempted to rush forward, determined to shield her comrades with her own body.

But Jellal swiftly intercepted her.

His figure blurred, and in the next instant, he appeared directly in front of her, arms spread wide to block her path.

Erza was forced to stop abruptly. She glared at him, fury burning in her eyes.

"JELLAL!!"

For the first time, she directed genuine killing intent toward him.

Erza locked eyes with her once-friend, the tension between them igniting like a drawn blade.

Instead of recoiling, Jellal grew even more exhilarated by her reaction.

"Yes… that's it, Erza! This is the you I wanted to see! Only a clash like this—only a battle of true resolve—can make my blood boil!"

While the two confronted each other, Wes had already aimed his wand at Natsu and begun chanting.

The blazing sphere in the sky transformed into a colossal pillar of lightning.

It came crashing down with devastating force.

Before the bolt even reached the ground, the overwhelming pressure ripped the earth apart, sending debris flying. The air itself seemed to compress under the weight of the power.

Everyone was pinned down by the massive wind pressure, barely able to keep from being swept away.

But beneath the descending lightning, Natsu planted his feet firmly into the ground.

Spine straight. Eyes blazing.

He intended to take the attack head-on.

He raised both hands to meet the strike.

BOOM!

With a deafening crash, the lightning pillar slammed into him like a roaring dragon, swallowing him whole.

Electric energy ravaged his body, arcs of lightning rampaging wildly across his skin.

His clothes burned to ash on contact; dark scorch marks began to spread across his skin, his hair whipping violently in the storm.

The relentless surge of lightning made Natsu's muscles tremble uncontrollably. It didn't take long before his eyes began to glaze over; he was on the brink of losing consciousness.

Even so, he continued to endure through sheer force of will.

His comrades watched in agony, but they were powerless.

The pillar of lightning was far too intense—none of them could even get close to Natsu.

"NATSU!!"

Wes's attack was deadly, but he knew Natsu would find a way to survive.

After all, in countless battles, Natsu always pulled off miracles at the last possible moment—

That was the protagonist's specialty, after all.

Just when everyone thought Natsu was about to collapse, something unbelievable happened.

Natsu opened his mouth wide—

and swallowed the entire lightning pillar.

The roaring thunderbolt, so destructive moments ago, crunched between his teeth like brittle crackers—

"crk-crk"—

before he devoured the whole thing down to the last spark.

But his expression made it clear that it was far from pleasant.

Even Wes hadn't expected this kind of counterattack.

He could only mutter helplessly:

"…Good bite strength."

Natsu's entire body trembled violently as he struggled to control the lightning inside him.

Steam burst from every pore as the energy built to its limit.

When the voltage in his body finally reached its peak, Natsu couldn't hold back anymore.

"Ugh— I think I'm gonna puke…"

"Fire Dragon…"

"No—Lightning Fire Dragon's ROAR!!!"

The moment he finished speaking, a massive sphere of intertwined flames and lightning exploded from Natsu's mouth.

The two forces spiraled into each other, forming an attack unlike anything seen before.

Where the sphere passed, the ground split like thin paper.

The entire Tower of Heaven shook violently, ready to collapse at any moment.

Meanwhile, Natsu's teammates shouted with all their might:

"TAKE HIM DOWN!!"

This was the strongest attack Natsu had ever unleashed.

Fire surged wildly inside him, and with this final blast, Natsu exhausted the last of his strength.

The blazing orb roared forward, scorching the air and ripping the earth apart as it hurtled toward Wes.

After unleashing the attack, Natsu's body gave out.

He collapsed to the ground, panting heavily, completely drained of energy.

Even so, his eyes never left Wes.

As the lightning-fire sphere approached, Wes merely raised his wand with one hand, steady and calm.

The enormous attack froze mid-air—

stopped cold before reaching him.

The massive elemental sphere was held in place by what looked like an impossibly fragile little wand.

Yet the sheer force of the impact whipped Wes Elwin's long coat into the air.

The ground behind him cracked in a spiderweb pattern,

and even the clouds in the distant sky scattered from the pressure.

But Wes himself stood unmoving—

like an unshakable monolith.

Only his wand bent slightly in his grip, as though bearing an immense weight.

Then he flicked his wrist.

In an instant, the overwhelming attack Natsu had poured his soul into was knocked aside effortlessly,

sent flying into the sky.

With a deafening explosion, the fireball burst apart in mid-air, blooming into a magnificent sea of flames.

The blast tore apart the storm clouds, and golden sunlight poured through the gaps, illuminating the battlefield.

The rays shone down upon Wes, making him appear tall, radiant—

invincible.

"H-How is that possible?!"

The members of Fairy Tail stared in disbelief.

Even Natsu's all-or-nothing attack—

his absolute strongest—

had failed to move Wes even a single step.
