Chapter 232 - Chapter 232 Awake

Several hours later, Jason and his crew returned with Banner and Betty to the laboratory in the New York suburbs.

Worried that an accident at the main hideout would expose it, Jason had temporarily set up a state-of-the-art biolab on the B2 level of an abandoned factory.

This way, even if the lab exploded or was raided by the authorities, the loss wouldn't be significant.

To prevent civilians from wandering in or government agents from snooping, hundreds of armed organization members patrolled the factory perimeter.

"Boss!"

As Jason and his crew landed, a subordinate ran over.

"Anything unusual?" Jason asked as he walked.

"Nothing, Boss," The subordinate reported.

"Good. Is all the lab equipment here? And how is Dr. Sterns's mood?"

"The equipment has all arrived and has been calibrated. Dr. Sterns is relatively stable. He seems to have accepted his fate. No unusual behavior."

"Good. Keep patrolling."

"Yes, Boss!"

After the brief check-in, Jason and the others walked into the B2 lab.

The lab was 1,800 square meters, divided into a work area and a living area, separated by a transparent glass door.

The work area was sterilized and filled with advanced experimental equipment. The living area, needless to say, was fully stocked. The entire space was an open-plan layout, making it easier for security to monitor.

"Boss!"

Walking into the lab, the security guards on duty immediately stood to greet him.

"Lock them both up. Especially the man. Guard him closely," Jason said, pointing at Banner and Betty.

"Yes, sir!"

Perhaps because his injuries were so severe, Banner still hadn't woken up.

The guards handcuffed Betty in a corner, then moved Banner to a medical bed and bound his limbs with steel cables.

After they finished, Jason walked to the glass door. The work area was in full view. Dr. Sterns was working diligently. It seemed he really had resigned himself to his fate.

Besides him, there were over twenty other researchers in the work area, all pulled from the organization to be Sterns's assistants.

Knock, knock, knock.

Jason knocked on the glass.

"Dr. Sterns, I brought you what you wanted."

He then walked to the sofa, sat, and put the USB drive on the coffee table.

"Is this the data?" Dr. Sterns asked, walking out.

"That's right." Jason took a sip of tea.

"Excellent!" Dr. Sterns, who had been looking miserable, finally showed an excited expression.

He took the drive, ready to go back to work, but then he saw the bound man and woman. Especially the man, tied with steel cables.

"He is...?" Sterns asked curiously.

"Hmph, he's an old friend of yours."

"Old friend?" Sterns frowned, then realization dawned: "Oh! He's Mr. Green!"

"Yes. And one more thing you might not know... the 'friend' infected by gamma rays that Mr. Green mentioned? It was actually himself."

Hearing this, Sterns looked shocked. It took him a long time to recover, muttering, "Oh my god. So that's how it is."

"Dr. Sterns, not just the data, I've brought you Banner himself. I've delivered on my end. I hope you'll work hard and crack the secret of gamma soon."

"Don't worry, I will." Sterns nodded seriously. "But, I have to say, the data alone would have been enough."

Jason asked, confused: "Why? With Banner here, can't you just draw blood whenever?"

Sterns explained: "I already have Mr. Green's blood sample. For experiments, I just need to culture and multiply the cells. Unless he mutates again, I don't need any more blood."

"I see." Jason narrowed his eyes, looking thoughtfully at Banner on the medical bed.

If Banner is useless now, it's better to dispose of him sooner rather than later.

Although they had a way to control Hulk now, David and the others had their own work to do; they couldn't just stay in the lab watching him. It would be better to just eliminate the Hulk once and for all, removing an unknown threat. After all, Hulk's power grows. If they lost control one day, it would backfire spectacularly.

After a moment, Jason asked: "I hear you're working on an antidote to eliminate the Hulk. What's the progress?"

Sterns replied: "It's almost done. As long as the data is correct, I can synthesize the suppressant by tomorrow."

"Good. You have one day." He called security over. "Give him a heavy sedative, now. And another every hour. Make sure he doesn't wake up."

"Yes, Boss!"

.........

The Pentagon. ICU.

Blonsky, who had been in a coma, finally woke up.

His superhuman recovery ability shocked all the doctors present.

At Culver University, every bone in his body was broken by the Hulk, but after only ten hours, he was fully awake and could walk.

X-rays showed his bones and muscles were completely healed, as if he'd never been injured. Many veteran doctors, seeing this, could only call it a miracle.

The first thing Blonsky did after waking was go to find Ross.

Seeing a man who had been on the brink of death now up and moving... Ross was shocked, but also more certain than ever about the Super Soldier Program.

If this program succeeded and was rolled out army-wide, the end of the Joker organization was in sight.

"Major, good to see you."

Blonsky sat in the chair, his expression neutral.

"What's wrong? Did that last fight extinguish your fighting spirit?"

Blonsky sneered. "On the contrary. I'm pissed off, and I can't wait for round three. General, I'm requesting another dose of the serum."

Seeing his spirit was intact, Ross relaxed.

"You've seen Hulk's power. The leftover WWII serum isn't enough to beat him. But it will be very helpful for your next mission."

"What mission?"

"Find Banner!"

"I just heard about that."

Ross lit a cigar, took a deep drag, and exhaled, filling the air with smoke.

"Jason kidnapped Banner to study his serum and make more Hulks. But that requires equipment. We tracked the orders and locked onto a biomedical company."

"Unfortunately, it's just a shell company. They just proxied the order. They don't know the final destination. The only lead is that the delivery address was near the west suburbs of New York."

Blonsky nodded. "West suburbs of New York. Understood."

Ross said: "A new special-ops team has been assembled. After your second injection, you'll lead them to New York."
