Maggie had just turned 15 when her life took a turn for the worst. She had been promised a job in the city by a woman from her village who claimed to be an employment agent.
Her parents struggling to make ends meet,were elated at the news. They so much trusted the lady that they immediately agreed to the offer. They saw this as an opportunity for their daughter to have a better life.
Little did they know that they were falling into a trap. In the same way Maggie was on top of the world after hearing this.
Not so far, Maggie was taken to Brothel and she was locked in the room. So soon Maggie realized she was helping captive along with other girls.
She was now behind the shadow, lost in the world of darkness. Maggie kept on asking why,how and what went wrong but unfortunately not a single person was there to run to her rescue, the only option was to answer herself.
She cried everyday, hour, minute and second but she had only two options, either to suffer or to suffer.
Meaning,she had no hope of attaining her freedom.
Maggie was stuck in the world of shadow where they were given less food and more hours of work. Maggie begged everyday, she said "kill me, rather than working as a sex worker." This isn't the journey that was prepared for me.
She couldn't swallow her pride but rather think of her parents.
" How will my parents be if they find out my job," she asked. It seemed Maggie was all alone in this fight.
All the other girls had given up and gave their lives to the fierce men. They couldn't raise voices because they thought they are girls.( " Speechless young girls," oh what a pity). Day by day the girls suffered but no signs of rescue showed.
As days turned into weeks, Maggie realized that she was living in a nightmare. She witnessed horrible things happening to the other girls and she never wanted any of these to happen to her.
The only thing she could think of was how to escape from this hell on earth.
Freedom had a price of its own. Maggie was looking forward to pay this price but the question is " how is she going to pay?"
Maggie thought of all plans that could cross in her head but none of them seemed to work as she expects.
She turned tables around, she tried to bear all the pain but the pain was so unbearable.
She assumed when she has gone back to her home town in a coffin and how shuttered her parents would be.
The love for her parents was the only strength and motivation she had now.
All the other things seemed to be useless.
Only she could think about was her reunion with her parents.
She missed the warmth of her parents and a tight hug.
Everyday she could get discouraged by what was going on with the rest of the girls.
One by one was sold off to a reach man.
Some used them as sex workers and others as escape goats in the casino.
They could bet on the girls lives.
And finally, Maggie's day came. She had to be sold off to a wealthy man.
The man took Maggie into his house as a slave.
The man was a politician and so he had tight protection.
No one could enter or get out of his territory without his consent.
Maggie had to bear all the insults from this man so as to keep her life.
In the day, she worked as a maid and at night she had to satisfy the man sexually.
Maggie was going through sexual harassment.
Whenever she could resist this man she could be tied up with no food or water provided.
She could be whipped to death.
The only solution she had was to agree to whatever the man had to say.
She had no say in the man's house. She was merely treated like a cow.
She had more time of work and no time of rest.
