I snapped back to reality with a jolt that sent me stumbling forward.
The sound of lycans fighting behind me, snarls, yelps, the wet sound of claws meeting flesh, it all crashed over me at once. Elias was back there, fighting for his life. Fighting for mine.
And I was just standing here like an idiot.
I turned and ran.
My feet carried me deeper into the forest, away from the sounds of battle, away from any chance of help. I had no idea where I was going. The trees all looked the same, and panic had turned my sense of direction into complete chaos.
"Morrigan," I called out desperately to my lycan, the name barely a whisper in my mind. "Morrigan, please I need you. Come out, please."
But there was nothing. Just empty silence where my lycan should have been. She was still retreated, still apparently recovering from revealing Lucian's location to me through that vision. I was completely alone in my own head.
That's when the other voices started.
Let me out.
