Elias looked at me for a long moment, his eyes searching my face like he was trying to memorize it. "Can we go outside? To talk?"
I swallowed hard, glancing around Calla's warm living room where everyone was pretending not to listen to our every word. "Isn't it dangerous? You shouldn't even be here, Elias."
He let out a bitter laugh that made my chest ache. "They already know I'm here. I'll face the consequences later." He shrugged, but I could see the tension in his shoulders. "What's one more rule broken at this point?"
We walked out of Calla and Ronan's house together, past the garden where she grew her herbs, past the small fence that marked the edge of her property. The forest beyond was the same one where everything had started for me, where a rogue lycan had bitten me and turned my world upside down. Last time I'd been here, Lucian had been with me.
Now it was Elias.
The irony wasn't lost on me.
