He dabbled on Japanese novels, Tensura for starters is his first novel since he saw that the second season hasn't been animated, he liked the webnovel but it seemed to be different from the light novel as the people told him so when he was debating with his "Superior" knowledge.
He also read Redo of Healer in that time period and dropped it, now imagine his shock when he saw it get animated, his young mind never would've thought there were people who would love it, but depravity sells I guess.
He read another one with Yogiri the overpowered death guy, another one with a person who had a pink Gorilla and the Gorilla turned into a red hair girl, read about a a fat ugly guy who went to his grandfather's basement and walked to a door that took him to another world, got handsome, still gullible and insecure about his looks
Read many Arifureta type novels where the main character are abandoned in a dungeon because the goddess who summoned them said so because the MC has a "useless ability" .
It got so repetitive that he started reading cultivation novels, he liked the first few as it was a breath of fresh air and a transition from meek Japanese MC's to a Chad Chinaman.
But he got over it as it turned out worse, the stories were the same with different martial power systems and the story lines remain the same with stronger characters being introduced doing the same thing
They all start like this, a country bumpkin jade beauty, young master wants, Mc says no, Young master pissed and wants to kill MC, MC goes into hiding in a forest inside a cave, Mc sits on rock eat pill, Mc comes back kills the young master, kills family, secluded ancestor comes and beats MC but MC kills him at the last second, big family come for revenge for destroyed family, MC does the same thing to the family, another bigger family comes for revenge for the destroyed big family, repeats the process again.
Goes to another realm, powerful people, Miss Chen interested in bum MC, young master of the Heavenly Dragon clan who likes Miss Chen hates MC, and what happens here is the same as the previous paragraph
What he can give credit to cultivation novels is the world building, there are many places explored, realms and whatnot, think of One Piece type world building
He had only finished one Chinese novel in his life because it was short in comparison to 2000+ chapters novels, only 800+ chapters and he liked it
And then the urban Chinese novels, global Mercenary king who left China as a child, comes back and goes to poor area, sells corn, a cold beautiful CEO, get married, don't like each other, like each other, gets kidnapped, Mercenary king pissed, kills, blah blah blah

Nolan would say the power system or magic system is simple and straight forward, you're only limited by your mana, imagination and affinity. Some people have large mana pools may have 1 or 2 affinities and lack imagination like for example conjuring fire and if It's not enough just pour more mana, big fire, done, no creativity at all.
With water, make bigger water, drown a motherfucker and be done, I mean if it works it works.
Now with imaginative people from what he's seen from the memories, they might make a whip of fire, earth or water spikes, freeze people with water, you know the elementary stuff.
People with more than 1 element are considered geniuses especially if you have large mana pools but Nolan would like to disagree with the word genius being thrown around, potential is the word they should use to describe these types people.
Now previous Nolan had 2 element and it was fire and earth and this is why current Nolan says the word genius gets thrown around, previous Nolan had potential but he wasn't that creative.
'Perks of being from a morden world and watching anime and movies I guess', thought Nolan.
"Do I have the same element as bro, or do I have different ones", and with that Nolan decided to check them out, he conjured a small flame by willing it and it appeared, he was enamored by the surrealness, he did the same with the earth affinity and a rock manifested and willed it to disappear, he paused,'Damn it's that easy?? I get that it's straightforward but hey I'm not complaining, anime made shit look complicated'.
"OK I have the same as previous dude", after saying that he tried the other elements water, lightning and wind.
"Basic elements check, oh my god I might be the chosen one!!!", Nolan right now was jumping up and down in excitement.
"5 bombaclat elements, let me see if I have the irregular ones", irregular elements include light, dark, space, time, gravity, tree/plant. Only 10 beings in history were in records of using one these elements.
Nolan calmed his racing heart and decided to start with light magic, he felt a soothing sensation on his hand and it illuminated the room just a bit.
At this point Nolan's heart was beating like a drum and he almost fainted from excitement, he calmed down and tried dark magic and a matte black tendril manifested in his hand, tried space magic by making his lotion dissappear into a pocket dimension, time magic on bread and fast forwarded time and made it mould, gravity magic made the bread light and floated, plant/tree magic made a seed appear and he also made grass to make sure It's not just limited to the manifestation of seeds.
He figured he could make a tree or multiple branches but decided to not since he was inside the house.
"Whatever got me here made sure I was strapped from top to bottom because ain't no way boi", Nolan shook his head.
He decided to go check that toolbox with money that his parents saved up before they got put in a body bag.
'OK let's see what we're working with here', Nolan then opened it,"Oooooh, 200 silvers and 20 gold coins, that's enough for a family of four to live decently for 5 years and that's like 440 silver coins per year, 36 silver coins per month which is 9 silver coins per week which is 2 silver coins and 25 bronze coins per person", Nolan said, 100 bronze coins is 1 silver coin, 100 sliver equals 1 gold, this is classic fantasy world currency conversion.
Nolan sat down and got lost in thought as he took it all in pause, he thought about his family back home especially his younger brother who he liked to annoy,'Wish he was here, man I'd take his phone then run away with it' Nolan then sighs,'Seems like those big brother days are over I guess'.
"I didn't even finish jjk season 3, I didn't read It's sequel, who the fuck am I kidding, I didn't even read the whole Manga, I could've defended my Glorious ultra sexy voice king Sukuna better" Nolan gets emotional after saying that.
"A$AP Rocky dropped an album and I haven't even listened to it, Bruno Mars was also about to drop, and last but no least Jermaine motherfuckin J Cole's most anticipated album was gonna drop on the 6 of February", at this point Nolan wanted to cry for the bad timing of his death.
"I heared about that album being hyped up since 2020 and Cole has been working on it for 10 years and I was this close at blessing my ears with a classic", Nolan said with a heavy heart.
"2026 was gonna be my year, it was going to be THE YEAR of this decade," He lamented and he steeled his heart to move on but he couldn't
"Let me just sleep, I might end up depressed at this point", He closed his eyes and went to lala land.

Nolan woke up the next day and went to the kitchen and made breakfast, ate and finished it, after that he went and gargled his mouth with some water and spit the water and the food that was left in his teeth, brushed his teeth and went to the shower
'A magic shower huh', he doesn't know how it works but he forgets about it, after finishing showering he looks for his lotion then remembered he yeeted it to some pocket dimension, he willed it back, creamed his body, dressed up and looked at the mirror.
Medium length curly black hair, olive skin, hazel eyes and sharp jaw line, yep he's pretty damn handsome alright.
He has that Marathon runner physique with a bit of muscle definition and he didn't like it at all
'Damn bro why didn't you eat or is it your metabolism?', Nolan wondered, he wanted muscles, that Toji and Garou physique and he was gonna put in work for it.
He headed for the Guild that was at the centre of the Town. He arrived and there were Adventurers who were already drinking in the morning.
He surveyed the interior a bit then headed to the front desk, he arrived and was hit with a pleasant greeting
"Hello sir I'm Alyssa how may I be of assistance", said Alyssa as Nolan thought,'Ooooh very professional'.
"I'm here to sign up as an adventure", Nolan smiled when saying this."OK sir please fill out this form and once you're done please sign at the bottom right corner", Alyssa handed him a form
The form was simple, Name, age, affinity/affinities, type of Adventurer and a sentence that said 'I Hereby sign this form to show I understand the dangers of being an Adventurer'
'Don't wanna be sued or something??'Nolan then proceeded to fill out his form
