Luna stepped out of the office, the warm evening air a welcome respite from the day's stress. She hailed a taxi and headed home, her mind preoccupied with thoughts of the project meeting earlier that day.
As she arrived at her apartment, Luna paid the driver and stepped out. She lived in a cozy one-bedroom place with a neat living room and a small kitchen. The walls were adorned with a few art pieces and plants, giving it a warm, welcoming feel.
After a refreshing bath, Luna changed into comfortable clothes and headed to the kitchen to prepare dinner. She decided to make herself some suya with grilled chicken, served with a side of plantains and a fresh salad. The aroma of grilled meat filled the air as she cooked, and her stomach growled in anticipation.
As she sat down to eat, her phone rang. It was her mother, Soo-jin, calling to check in. "Hey, Mom," Luna said, taking a bite of her suya.
"Hi, sweetie," Soo-jin replied. "I just wanted to talk to you about your uncle Jae-hwan and the family property. He's been calling me nonstop, trying to get your father to agree to develop it."
Luna's expression turned serious. "What did you tell him, Mom?"
"I told him your father still isn't interested," Soo-jin said. "But I'm worried, Luna. This dispute is causing a lot of tension between our families."
"Luna, you know your uncle Jae-hwan is a cruel and cold-hearted man," Soo-jin said, her voice laced with concern. "He can do anything to get things his way. I'm worried about your father dealing with him."
Luna's expression turned grave. "I know, Mom. I've seen the way he operates. But Dad's firm on not giving in to his demands."
Soo-jin's voice turned serious. "I heard that Ava is in New York. You should be careful, dear. Make sure to stay away from trouble."
Luna nodded, even though her mother couldn't see her. "I'll be fine, Mom. Don't worry."
