"I am," Zixuan said, adding no emotion.
"But your expression says otherwise," Haoran said, his gaze filled with pure worry, not liking Zixuan's change of character.
Zixuan let out a soft, humorless laugh. "How do you want me to behave then? Hysterical? Jealous?" His tone was icy, but his words stung.
Haoran's jaw tightened. "You are testing me." He couldn't understand why his temper was rising. He should be happy Zixuan did not overreact like what was expected.
Maybe it was Zixuan's calmness, that terrifying calmness that made him feel like he was already losing him.
He had hoped that Zixuan felt jealous.
But there was no emotion.
He wanted to love and receive love like other people. Why was his own so different?
Was he trying too hard?
Zixuan looked up at him, his eyes dull and unreadable. "How?" he asked quietly, the word dropping like a blade between them. "What exactly am I testing?"
Haoran had no answer.
