"Kiara?" Lola stopped at the entryway when she saw a familiar face approaching them from the side. "Kiara!"
"Lola!" Kiara smiled widely as she walked over, only stopping when she noticed the man her husband was dragging.
Slater looked up, appearing more depressed than usual. Kiara's face twisted in dismay, but she ignored him and offered Lola a bright smile instead.
"I was worried when I heard you went on your first mission," Kiara said. "I'm glad to see you're back… and my husband finally won a bet."
Lola bit her lip, suppressing her excitement. During her stay in Anteca, she had grown close to everyone, including Kiara. So seeing another familiar face from the family felt like a treat.
"I heard the journey was long," Kiara said as she hooked her arm around Lola's and gently led her along. "So I helped in the kitchen. The food's already being served — kids, let's go."
