Scarlet narrowed her eyes and folded her arms beneath her chest. As for Haji—who had no idea why the two of them were even here—he knitted his brows in confusion.
Chuck clicked his tongue and ruffled his hair irritably. "I wanted to shoot him, alright? Even though I knew that fall would kill him, and that he was just clinging to life stubbornly instead of taking his last breath, I didn't."
"Wait, wait." Haji scratched his wet hair, still looking confused.
When the two arrived, he had been about to leave the bathroom. He'd overheard everything—how Chuck had provided cover for everyone, including him. Of course, that shocked Haji, because he did remember someone shooting Jarvis's pistol, something that had increased his chances of survival.
It surprised him that Chuck was actually a good sniper. Honestly, Haji had always thought the guy was only good at infuriating people.
The revelation was impressive, but this wasn't the time to dwell on it.
