Hugo almost choked on his food as Penny suddenly jumped onto the stool beside him. He turned, brows knitting when he saw the excitement plastered on her face.
"Whatever it is, Penny…" he sighed, shoving his hand into his pocket. Then, with a slap on the table, a folded bill was placed on top. "This is all the money I have. What are the odds?"
Penny's lips stretched from ear to ear. "First Sister is taking her first mission in the Order." She snatched the bill instantly, eyes gleaming. "You're betting she's going to fail."
"Wait—Penny, no!" Hugo gasped. "I'm betting she'll do well!"
"Sucks. I already encoded your initial bet."
"..." Hugo's expression twisted, realizing he'd thrown the money too fast.
"How can you not learn your lesson?" Suddenly, a sleepy voice drawled from the entrance.
Penny and Hugo turned their heads to see Kiara dragging her feet into the kitchen, yawning as she headed for the fridge.
