Hachiman: "Sorry, Rice, that must've been rough."
Rice: "N-No… It's okay."
Bakushin-O: "Haha! My eyes never fail! She's got an amazing run! Absolutely BAKUSHIN-tastic!"
Hachiman: "You calmed down yet?"
Bakushin-O: "I'd love to chat more, but she keeps bolting away…"
Hachiman: "No kidding. She's obviously a freshman. Is she your friend?"
Bakushin-O: "Nope, first time meeting her. But she didn't feel like a stranger… Why'd she run, though? Trainer-san, any ideas?"
Hachiman: "Obviously. There's only one reason. If someone came charging at you yelling 'BAKUSHIN BAKUSHIN,' you'd run too. Why were you chasing her anyway?"
Bakushin-O: "Hmm… Why indeed!"
She was chasing her without knowing why!?
Hachiman: "…Anyway, let's put your BAKUSHIN aside. I've got something to talk about. Got a sec?"
Bakushin-O: "Oh-ho! Of course! A class president's duty includes looking beyond students! So, what's up?"
Hachiman: "Wanna join my team?"
Bakushin-O: "…Huh? I thought Hikigaya Trainer wasn't a team trainer yet?"
Hachiman: "Don't pull a Bourbon with that phrasing. Here's the details, take a look."
Oh, that's the same sheet Onii-sama showed me! I decided to join after seeing it. I was so happy…
Bakushin-O: "…Hmm, I see! So that's the deal!"
Hachiman: "Not sure how much you get, but yeah. So, what do you say? I'm scouting you—will you join?"
Bakushin-O: "Ohh!! My skills are finally recognized!! Absolutely, I'll be your trainee!! To think Hikigaya Trainer-san would scout me—what an honor!!"
Hachiman: "Glad to hear it. Can you sign this then?"
Bakushin-O: "Got it!!"
Bakushin-O-san wrote her name on the contract. With her, Maurice-san, Mr. CB-san, me, and Wing Arrow-san, that's five… Oh, the team's full!!
Hachiman: "Alright, that's everyone. Thanks for your time. That's all, so you're good to go. I've gotta head to training. That took longer than expected. Catch you later."
Rice: "Y-Yeah! Bye, Onii-sama~!"
Bakushin-O: "See ya!!"
Rice: "Phew… Now Onii-sama's team can be formed."
Bakushin-O: "Wait, I was the last one!?"
Rice: "Yup. He was looking for a short-distance Uma Musume."
So I'm officially Onii-sama's trainee, right? But when does it start? The sheet said to gather five by April, so… maybe May?
Rice side out
Hachiman's POV
Hachiman: "Sorry I couldn't watch much training today, Fuji. It's a critical time for your Derby prep…"
Fuji: "No worries, I get it. More importantly, how'd the scouting go?"
Hachiman: "Got Bakushin-O. That makes five—well, six, technically. Shouldn't be an issue. I'm off to submit the application to Tazuna-san."
Air Groove: "So the team's finally taking shape. Feels momentous."
Hachiman: "You were my first member, so you probably feel it as much as I do. More teammates mean broader training, but less time per person. Can't help it."
Air Groove: "True. But as we rack up results, your rep as a trainer will rise."
Hachiman: "Don't care about my rep. As long as you all get results, I'm good. Alright, good work today. Leave the key and head home."
Outside Chairman's Office
Knock knock knock
Tazuna: 'Come in.'
No Chairman today?
Hachiman: "Excuse me."
Tazuna: "Oh, Hachiman Trainer, good work today. What brings you here?"
Hachiman: "Team application. I've got the names of five hopefuls, plus one extra, on the form."
Tazuna: "You did it! It's all set!"
Hachiman: "Took some effort, but yeah…"
Tazuna: "I'll take the application. If there's no issues, it'll be approved. I'll let you know tomorrow."
Hachiman: "Thanks."
Tazuna: "You mentioned you'd decided on a team name. What is it?"
Hachiman: "Yeah, the team name is…"
Afterword
The team's complete with Bakushin-O's chaotic scouting! This Yahari x Uma Musume chapter wraps up Hachiman's roster with Rice's wholesome joy and Air Groove's pride. The mysterious team name looms as Fuji's arc heads toward the Derby!
