Chapter 448: Returning
Trafalgar Law and Doflamingo's grudge and enmity needed no further elaboration.
One sentence to summarize: Law desperately wished Doflamingo dead. The more miserable, the better.
When Brett proposed this compensation—visibly—Law's chest began heaving violently. His breathing became extremely rapid.
"That guy—how is he now?" Law's voice was so low it seemed squeezing it could produce a cup of water.
Last time hearing news about Doflamingo—during Beasts Pirates' destruction.
Though still retaining the Shichibukai title then—already considered a Beasts Pirates member by everyone—Doflamingo and Kaido together defeated in that father-daughter battle, then disappeared without trace.
Law kept telling himself—that guy already died. Already executed as loser by victor—that woman named Yamato.
But when Brett spoke these words before him—Law discovered he still couldn't control his heart. Still couldn't help wanting to inquire about that man's current situation.
What if that man truly didn't die? What if he still hid somewhere in the world living freely?
Regardless—wanted final confirmation about that guy's information.
Brett's lips curved slightly. He said. "Already dead."
At this moment—Law's heart suddenly felt somewhat bewildered.
He'd originally thought after knowing Doflamingo's death—he'd smile. But when this truly happened—he felt unprecedented bewilderment.
Probably confusion after losing one's goal.
That man was indeed Law's biggest sailing objective.
He had zero interest in D's carried mission. Not particularly enthusiastic about Pirate King's position either. Simply purely wanted revenge for a certain man.
"Don't worry. That guy didn't die pleasantly."
Brett said calmly. "That Tesoro guy—extremely hates Celestial Dragons."
Celestial Dragon?!
Law's eyes widened.
Doflamingo—actually a Celestial Dragon?
This was something he never knew!
Moreover Tesoro—Doflamingo died at that Gild Tesoro's hands?
So Fish-Man Island also participated in Wano Country's war?
Then what role did this man before him play in that war?
Suddenly massive information overload made Law unable to react.
After quite a while, his emotions finally calmed.
However, his gaze toward Brett still filled with shock.
How did this man know about him? How did he know about his grudge with Doflamingo?
Numerous questions surfaced in his mind. But couldn't get any answers.
After hearing Law's thoughts gradually calm—Brett spoke again. "Compensation already given. Then Law-san—can you hear my request?"
Law fell silent briefly. "Please speak."
After initial impulse—now calmly thinking—he couldn't even confirm whether this man spoke truth or lies.
But what did it matter? Could he say no before this man?
Really—I'm not some vicious villain.
Brett inwardly shook his head. Then spoke. "This absolutely isn't difficult for you. Just hoping you help perform surgery."
"Surgery?" Law looked somewhat surprised.
Couldn't help being surprised. Hard imagining the man called Deep Sea Emperor would travel all the way to North Blue finding himself for surgery.
With this man's abilities and position—any doctor could be summoned at will, dismissed at will.
Unless—
"Yes. Because quite dangerous—I think probably only you—through Ope-Ope Fruit's ability—can safely operate this surgery." Brett said straightforwardly.
This guy actually truly knows!
Law's eyes widened again.
This man actually truly knew his possessed Devil Fruit ability!
This should've been an absolute secret. Only those closest to him knew.
"Brett-san—may I ask—" Law couldn't help asking.
"This is a secret."
Brett responded to his confusion with a smile.
"..."
Law fell silent.
Then slowly breathed out. "I understand."
At this point—couldn't possibly refuse, right?
Thus Law answered. "Though only meager abilities—if it can help—please leave this matter to me."
Brett's lips curved. "No need for self-deprecation. Your ability is indispensable, Law-san."
Cutting off a head—that level of surgery.
"Then—are we departing now?" Law asked.
"I naturally want to depart as soon as possible. But before that, Law-san—"
Brett smiled. "You seemingly still have matters requiring handling."
"Huh?"
Law raised an eyebrow surprised.
Then—next instant—the house door pushed open. Two people and one bear practically tumbled inside.
"Take us together!!"
Two men plus one white bear—three individuals' faces bore fearful expressions. But now they bit their teeth shouting loudly.
"You guys—"
Law froze briefly. Then couldn't help grinding teeth roaring. "Three idiots! Didn't I tell you to wait outside?!"
"How could we let Captain risk alone?!!"
The white bear's nose twitched. His voice somewhat high-pitched. But tone not soft. "Aren't we companions? Whatever problems—should face together!"
Law fell silent.
Wolf also quietly shook his head.
"Oh, polar bear type Mink Tribe?"
Brett examined the white bear—taller than Law by a head. "Didn't expect to see one in North Blue."
"Mink Tribe?"
One of two hat-wearing men said surprised. "Talking about Bepo's race? I thought he was just a talking bear?"
"Mink Tribe lives in New World's Zou—a unique race."
Brett explained. "Possess human forms and animal appearances."
"I see."
Law nodded lightly. "Bepo drifted here from New World?"
The white bear looked bewildered tilting his head.
"Wanting to return is quite simple. I'm friends with Zou's two kings. Just greet them."
Brett smiled.
Quietly displaying his connections.
Law looked at the somewhat moved Bepo. Then at his other two resolute companions.
Then he finally sighed.
"Then let's all go together."
