Chapter 22 — Only Fight Those at the Top
Inside Dagon's Domain, "Seaside Paradise," Geto Suguru lay sprawled out on a beach lounger, sunglasses over his eyes like some vacationing celebrity.
He looked like he was enjoying a relaxing day at the beach—if you ignored the brutal scars covering his body.
A jagged stitch ran down his forehead, and another deep, crossing suture stretched from his chest to his abdomen. The aftermath of a single strike… from Zenin Kyūjō. A slash so precise, it had nearly split his body clean in two.
It was that very wound that had almost killed him—and allowed a certain ancient entity to take over his body.
Now, Geto wore a scowl of frustration as he massaged his temples, muttering in a low voice.
"Zenin Kyūjō… and he's only fifteen? This generation's Zenin really produced a monster."
"From everything I've gathered, that kid's like an upgraded version of Fushiguro Toji's Heavenly Restriction. Still, he shouldn't be able to surpass Gojo Satoru… right?"
He let out a heavy sigh.
"This is such a pain... I'm supposed to be the villain here, but taking out even one of them is a nightmare. I was just starting to refine a method to deal with Six Eyes, and now this genius Zenin brat shows up."
"…Being a villain's a lot harder than it looks."
In the distance, Jogo—a Special Grade Cursed Spirit who refused to fight anyone below the top tier—walked toward him, overhearing the complaints.
"Why are you whining so much?" Jogo asked, confused. "They're just humans. None of them can match us, the true Cursed Spirits."
"Humans were born from fear—and from that fear, we were born. Doesn't matter who our enemies are. I, Jogo, will reduce them all to ash. Zenin Kyūjō, Gojo Satoru... I'll incinerate them!"
With that, Jogo stormed off, heading straight for Tokyo Jujutsu High.
Geto didn't stop him.
In fact, in the back of his mind, he felt a little relieved to have one less 'card' standing around. With a sigh, he began to refocus on his real objective: survival.
The Kyoto Jujutsu Headquarters had long been under Geto's influence, and recently, he had secretly relocated its operations to a different base of command.
As long as the old jujutsu administration still stood, Kenjaku could live on—his true body hidden underground, manipulating things from the shadows. So long as no one shattered the foundation, he was untouchable.
But now, thanks to Zenin Kyūjō… that foundation had started to crack.
Even in the newly relocated Tokyo HQ, Geto's grip was slipping. Though he still controlled a few key figures, his reign from the shadows was starting to fray. He no longer held the unshakable authority he once did.
With Jogo gone, Geto began quietly reassembling his strategy—repositioning his assets, tools, and hidden techniques to prepare for a new variable: Zenin Kyūjō, the one boy who had already thrown everything off track.
— — —
Somewhere along a remote mountain road, a sleek black Maybach cruised at high speed.
In the backseat sat two teenagers: Zenin Kyūjō and Okkotsu Yuta.
They had both just wrapped up separate exorcism missions—and by coincidence—decided to head back to Tokyo Jujutsu High in the same car.
But midway down the mountain, Kyūjō suddenly leaned forward and instructed the driver to turn around and head back toward the city center.
— — —
After stepping out of the car, Kyūjō narrowed his eyes, his expression serious as he turned to Yuta.
"Yuta. There's a group of Special Grade Cursed Spirits ahead… and I think they're here for us."
He paused, then added, "One of them is strange. Looks like a human brain… and he's controlling Geto Suguru's body. He's up ahead too."
"Eh?" Yuta blinked in surprise. "You're saying they're all Special Grades? Since when did Cursed Spirits like that start working together?"
Kyūjō gave a small nod.
"They're not just Special Grade. Even among them, these are top-tier. Brace yourself, Yuta. This is going to be a real fight."
"Shouldn't we call Gojo-sensei first…?" Yuta asked, glancing at his phone.
"No point," Kyūjō replied calmly. "They're already jamming the signal. Nothing will go through. Besides... they're closing in."
Realizing the situation, Yuta gave a firm nod. He drew his katana, called out to Rika, and fixed his gaze toward the gathering presence ahead.
— — —
About a hundred meters apart now, the two sides finally came into view.
Kenjaku—residing in Geto's body—glanced at Jogo and said nonchalantly, "You go first, Jogo. Show us what they're capable of. Don't worry, we won't interfere. If you can kill them… do it."
Sensing the intense jujutsu aura from the two teens before him, Jogo sneered.
"These two… really think they stand a chance?"
"I'll reduce them both to nothing but smoldering bones."
With a hiss, he pointed a finger directly at Zenin Kyūjō.
— — —
A challenge?
Kyūjō calmly raised his hand and smirked.
"You. The short, grey-skinned one. You wanna fight me one-on-one? Fine. We'll duel. My friend won't interfere. Once I'm done with you, I'll take care of the rest."
His laid-back tone made the entire battlefield fall silent.
Except for Jogo.
"…Grey-skinned? You want to take me out first?!"
Jogo's single eye widened in outrage. His sharp teeth clenched in fury.
In just a few words, Kyūjō had successfully triggered the most brainless Cursed Spirit on the planet.
With a roar, Jogo lunged forward, unleashing searing fireballs from his left hand—each one blazing with cursed energy as they tore through the air toward Kyūjō.
— — —
Kyūjō remained still. Then, as the flames neared, he summoned his Cursed Katana and began slicing them down with sharp, deliberate strikes.
While slashing through the last fireball, he glanced back at Yuta and spoke with calm confidence.
"Yuta. Take a break. Watch your back in case they try anything sneaky. I'll handle this short-tempered grey guy. Don't jump in."
Yuta silently nodded and retreated to a safe distance.
Truth be told, Okkotsu Yuta was now far stronger than his canon counterpart—even stronger than he was when he returned from overseas as the infamous "Pure Love God."
But opponents who required him to go all out? Extremely rare.
The only two people he still couldn't defeat with certainty were Zenin Kyūjō and Gojo Satoru.
Even now, Yuta wasn't entirely sure where he stood in the hierarchy of strength.
But honestly… even though multiple Special Grade Cursed Spirits had shown up today, if he and Kyūjō both fought at full power, none of them would stand a chance.
Calling Gojo Satoru for backup?
Yeah… that clearly wasn't necessary.
