"So this is it. You're leaving, just like that," Alex sighed as he took the cat beds from Ryan. He and Ryan walked over to the hallway, where they arranged the cat thing and let them out o their carriers.
"Welcome back to Goddaddy Alex's house," he said as Jasmine broke into a run out of the hallway, reacqainting herself with the apartment. Her tail swayed from side to side as she sniffed around.
"Thank you for keeping them with you," Ryan said as he straightened with Adalia in his arms, patting her gently.
"Still haven't heard from him?"
Ryan shook his head. Alex didn't have to mention the name for him to know who he was talking about. He was leaving today, and it had been ten days since he last saw or spoke to Carl.
Ten days without even a phone call. IT seemed like they were really over.
The doorbell rang, bringing him out of his thoughts.
"Coming," Alex shouted and hurried to open the door. "Aren't these for funerals?"
