Chapter 123 - Chapter 123: House Arrest, Ethan?!

The moment the gatekeeper finished speaking, Ethan quickly replied, "I destroyed it."

"!?"

The bearded master, who had just woken up after being treated by the Lord of Ravenshade City, stared at Ethan with confusion written all over his bruised face. "Ethan, kid… didn't you say you only stalled that foreigner? Are you serious? You're not joking with us, right?"

Ethan looked at him calmly. "Have you ever seen me joke around like that?"

The bearded master tried to raise his weak hand to scratch his head, but instead scratched a wound and hissed, "Ow— fine, you're right. You never joke."

He gave up and obediently drank his healing potion.

Among the three people present, the one who understood the danger of this drop of evil spirit blood the most was the Lord of Ravenshade City. For more than ten years, this cursed thing had tormented him mentally and physically. His greatest obsession was figuring out how to destroy it.

So when Ethan claimed he had destroyed it, the lord's first reaction was disbelief.

But when he looked closely, Ethan had zero traces of an evil presence around him. This alone was different from every other encounter with the evil spirit blood. He studied Ethan carefully and asked, "How did you destroy it?"

Ethan shrugged lightly. He had no intention of telling the truth. "Doesn't matter. I destroyed it. Believe it or don't."

His attitude clearly said: This is my secret. Why should I tell you?

Besides, the Anti-Bone Boy—the creature standing loyally beside him—gave him all the confidence he needed.

The Lord of Ravenshade City inspected Ethan and the creature beside him. Ethan's expression stayed calm, but inwardly, his heart raced. If the lord figured out the truth, what then?

But instead of pressuring him, the lord exhaled in relief and laughed.

"Ha! I believe you. Today is truly a great day."

The lord didn't care how Ethan destroyed it. The important thing was simply that the evil spirit blood was gone. After carrying a burden heavier than a mountain for over a decade, he finally felt free. Why ruin that by digging deeper?

Even if Ethan explained the method, the lord wouldn't listen.

Knowing too much about foreigners was dangerous. Sometimes ignorance was a blessing.

Ethan took this chance to ask his own question. "What exactly is this evil spirit blood? It's just a drop of blood, so why do those aliens want it so badly?"

The Lord of Ravenshade City immediately understood—Charles and the other leaders had clearly kept the truth from Ethan. But he didn't dwell on their reasons. Ordinary people could never understand the minds of powerful leaders.

So he explained casually, "You only need to know one thing—this blood can cause disasters worse than the Scarlet Secret Realm. If used correctly, it can create up to ten SSS+ talents."

Ethan's eyes widened.

If Anti-Bone Boy absorbed that blood… wouldn't that mean he was now equivalent to SSS+ level?

He quietly celebrated inside.

While the Lord didn't ask more questions, the gatekeeper was still unsettled. He pulled the bearded master aside and whispered, "You know this kid better than I do. Is he telling the truth?"

The bearded master thought for a moment. "This kid rarely lies. But he's also clever—too clever. He won't joke about something that risks his future. I believe him… maybe eighty percent."

The gatekeeper didn't look reassured. "This matter involves the lives of millions. Tell me everything that happened earlier."

So the bearded master repeated the whole event—how Ethan's summoned beast broke the magic box, how the beast lost control immediately afterward, how Ethan was almost bewitched, and finally, how the evil spirit blood mysteriously vanished and Ethan returned to normal.

But nothing in that story answered the most important question: how was the blood destroyed?

The gatekeeper finally walked straight to Ethan.

"You must prove the evil spirit blood is gone. Otherwise… we will have to place you under temporary house arrest."

Ethan raised a brow. "And if I refuse?"

Before the gatekeeper could answer, Anti-Bone Boy flicked his tail.

BOOM!

A horrifying crack tore the ground open, stretching hundreds of meters across the land. Dust billowed, stones flew, and the earth trembled.

"!?"

The gatekeeper instantly released a powerful aura. "This matter concerns the lives of hundreds of millions. Calm yourself!"

Although his voice was firm, sweat dripped from his forehead. Anti-Bone Boy's power clearly frightened him. If this creature went wild, the entire region might turn into ruins.

Just then, the bearded master stepped forward and patted the gatekeeper's shoulder.

"Old man, relax. He's teasing you."

He knew Ethan too well. Ethan would never pick a fight with the gatekeeper. That would also mean fighting the entire Dragon Cave Organization—and ultimately, fighting the Dragon Kingdom itself.

Ethan wasn't stupid.

Sure enough, Ethan suddenly sighed and said, "Fine. How do you want me to prove it?"

"I—I want to inspect your panel backpack!"

"Okay."

"And your Beast Familiar Space!"

"Okay."

Ethan agreed so easily that the gatekeeper froze.

Something felt wrong.

Why is he being so cooperative? Isn't this kid supposed to be cunning? Could he be planning something?

But Ethan calmly opened his backpack and Beast Familiar Space right in front of all three of them.

And then—

A dazzling treasure-filled light blasted outward, almost blinding them.

Weapons. Crystals. Artifacts. Rare materials. Strange items.

More riches than most city lords saw in a lifetime.

The three men stared in disbelief, mouths dropping open.

All thoughts of house arrest vanished instantly.
