Chapter 138 - Chapter 137: Xiangpa: This Wave is Stable!

"I've thought about it," Beerus said, scratching his chin, "and frankly, I don't think you have anything worth betting."

Champa raised an eyebrow, "Huh? Then why bring it up?"

Beerus smirked. "How about this? If I win, and you happen to complete a mission and earn a lottery draw, you hand that draw over to me. Deal?"

Champa's expression instantly darkened. "You want my lottery draw? You've got to be joking!"

Beerus shrugged. "What's the problem? You haven't even claimed a mission yet. What's the harm in promising something you don't even have?"

Champa crossed his arms defiantly. "That's exactly why! I will get a mission soon, and when I do, I'm keeping that draw for myself! Everyone knows how overpowered those items are! You think I'm just gonna hand you my ticket to god-tier power?! Not happening!"

Beerus leaned in closer with a smug look. "So you're saying you don't think you'll win the bet? That you'll lose?"

"I didn't say that!" Champa barked, but Beerus cut him off.

"Then what are you so worried about?" Beerus teased. "If you're so confident in your choice, why not make a real bet?"

Champa's eyes narrowed. "Tch."

Beerus raised a finger and continued, "Besides, even if you lose, there are ways around giving me the draw."

"Oh?" Champa said cautiously. "What ways?"

"Well, you could just not take any missions in the future," Beerus offered with faux innocence. "No mission, no draw, no problem."

Champa's face tightened.

"Or," Beerus added slyly, "you could purposely get a four-star review. You'd still complete the task and help the group, but no draw."

Champa looked like he was about to explode. "You—! You want me to fail on purpose?!"

"Not fail," Beerus said with a smirk, "just underperform."

Champa stared at him, expression twisted in disbelief.

To the untrained ear, Beerus was offering helpful 'solutions.' But to Champa, these were traps—deadly ones.

If he stopped taking missions altogether, he'd become irrelevant.

And if he purposely sabotaged his performance? That could be even worse.

The group chat was constantly monitored by the system overseer Jack, Lord Zeno, and the Grand Priest. If he started slipping up, they might deem him unfit to be a God of Destruction!

He could already imagine it: Jack noting his decline, Zeno waving his hand, and the Grand Priest appearing to say, "Lord Champa, you have been… replaced."

Unthinkable!

He pointed an accusatory finger at Beerus. "Beerus! You and I may argue like cats and dogs, but we're still brothers! Yet here you are, trying to end my career! Have you no shame?!"

Beerus blinked. "Wait, what?"

Champa continued dramatically. "Telling me to avoid missions or tank my ratings?! What if Lord Jack or Zeno sees and thinks I'm incompetent?! What if I get kicked out of the thugs' group? What if they strip me of my title?!"

Beerus waved his hands. "Whoa whoa whoa—hold on! I wasn't thinking that far ahead. I was just pointing out options!"

"Options to kill my credibility!" Champa snapped. "You think I'm stupid enough to fall for that?!"

Beerus rubbed the back of his head. "Okay, okay, that's fair. I didn't think through the consequences. Let's just drop the bet, alright?"

"No." Champa's eyes narrowed. "I accept."

Beerus froze. "Wait, what?"

"I said, I accept your bet," Champa repeated firmly. "But under one condition—I get first pick."

Beerus raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"

Champa smirked. "Absolutely. And I choose… Caulifla."

He pointed confidently at the fiery female Saiyan currently training with Goku.

"She's the leader of the trio. Kale and Cabba follow her. That kind of status doesn't come without strength and talent. Plus, she's already completed a mission. She's ahead of the others by a mile."

Beerus chuckled. "Alright then. That's your pick?"

"Yes," Champa said smugly. "And this wave is stable. With Caulifla on my side, your Earth is already as good as mine!"

He folded his arms triumphantly, practically glowing with confidence.

Beerus could see right through it. "You really think I'd let you have the win so easily?"

Champa raised an eyebrow. "You're not backing out now, are you?"

"Of course not," Beerus replied. "Since you picked Caulifla, then I choose… Kale."

Champa's smirk evaporated. "Kale? That Kale?"

"The quiet one," Beerus confirmed with a calm nod. "The one always clinging to Caulifla and whispering 'big sis' every five seconds."

Champa stared at him like he had gone mad. "Beerus, what are you doing?! You just gave up!"

"Kale?!" Champa scoffed. "The girl who's too shy to make eye contact? You really think she can be the first to transform into a Super Saiyan?!"

Beerus said nothing. He just sipped his drink with a knowing grin.

"Even Cabba would've been a better pick!" Champa continued. "At least he's composed. Kale looks like she might cry if you raise your voice!"

Beerus looked up. "Maybe. Or maybe you're underestimating her."

Champa rolled his eyes. "Right. Sure. And next you'll say the girl who can't speak above a whisper will one-shot Caulifla in a sparring match."

Beerus smirked but remained silent.

What he knew—and Champa didn't—was that Kale's potential was monstrous.

She wasn't weak. She was just bottled up.

If the right trigger flipped the switch inside her, she wouldn't just become a Super Saiyan…

She'd become something unstoppable.

---

Down on the field, the students were deep in training.

Goku was patiently coaching Caulifla on how to harness her energy.

Vegeta barked orders at Cabba, stressing technique and mental focus.

And Krillin gently encouraged Kale to believe in herself.

"I… I don't think I can do it," Kale mumbled.

Krillin smiled. "Don't worry. It's not about yelling or rage. It's about intention. Trust me. You'll get there."

Kale looked away, doubt heavy in her eyes. But Krillin didn't give up.

---

Back in the sky, Champa leaned toward Beerus again.

"You really think Kale is gonna win this?" he asked.

Beerus just grinned. "You've already chosen your bet, haven't you? Let's see how this plays out."

Champa scoffed again. "Hmph. I'll take the Earth, and your precious ice cream recipes too."

Beerus didn't reply. But deep down, he knew…

This wave wasn't as stable for Champa as he thought.
