Kai's vision was blurry as he started to regain consciousness. "Did I land myself in the hospital again?" He asked himself as he rolled on the soft bed.
"No, but I guess we could make some arrangements to send you there, though it may be a bit painful." A mischievous voice spoke to him with a playful threat. His eyes shot open as he quickly turned towards the direction of the voice. And there he saw two beautiful stunning women.
The one who called out to him had long black hair which fell to her middle back, her face was slightly rounded and her eyes were blue with a mischievous glint in them as she grinned at me, she wore long sleeve shirt and tight jeans that accentuated her body.
And the second was much more reserved, her expression was cold and noble as if she was a princess as her look definitely gave the impression, she was stunningly beautiful with a slender but curved body, her golden eyes were alert as her golden hair shimmered in the light, she wore ordinary clothes unlike the first girl, she opened her thin lips to speak and said
"Maria." She said as she glared at her silently. "What can't I joke around with him a bit." Maria grumbled. "Not now." The golden-haired girl replied. Then she looked back at Kai and asked. "How do you feel?"
"I feel surprisingly well." He said as there was no pain in his body at all. "That's good."
She replied with a quiet nod.
"Do you remember what happened before you passed out." She asked. I scratched my head struggling to remember, before it clicked in. "I was about to be suffocated by this weird plant creature but I suddenly felt some..." "Sort of power strengthen you." She completed my sentence. "Yes." He replied.
She sighed and looked back at Maria and said. "You can go I'll explain it to him myself." "He's all yours." She said as she left the small room fairly quickly as if bored of having to stay around for so long.
"Now." She looked back at me and said. "Do you believe in magic." As a bright golden-red flame lit on the palm of her hand. " He was surprised seeing such a display as she extinguished the fire by closing her palm and started to explain in more detail.
"The power you felt strengthen you was your innate technique, it usually stays asleep within you until something awakens it, usually being a object imbued with magical energy, so before I continue did you interact with any strange items during the past week." Her eyes focused on him waiting for his reply.
He wondered how much he should tell her about his experiences and answered "I did pick up a strange red jewel in the forest but it shattered into dust right after and I fainted before waking up in the hospital, that was yesterday." He said, telling most of the truth but leaving out every part that had to do with Sakrius.
"That jewel was most likely what triggered your technique to awaken." She pointed out.
"Sorry for interrupting but what are techniques." He asked with curiosity. She looked slightly displeased by my interruption but decided to answer my question"Techniques are a set of unique skills or abilities that a person can awaken depending on different factors, they also passively strengthen the body of the person who possesses them, for example my fire ability is my technique." She explained rather indeptly as I nodded my head.
She then continued her explanation. "That creature that you fought was one of the many magical beasts that roam around the world unknown of by normal citizens since other awakened like me deal with them before they can cause any harm, though this time we weren't quick enough to stop most of your classmates from dying." She said with an apologetic tone at the end.
"Don't worry I wasn't close to any of them anyway." He said calmly as he felt inwardly that his remark was a lot colder than he wanted it to feel.
"Alright." She said. "That creature that you fought was a wild ranked beast." "Beasts are classified in ranks namely:

Warrior's: They possess higher strength and endurance than soldiers but less agility, they are basically the tankers of the common types."
Kai nodded his head as all the information given to him was quickly absorbed as he understood how important it was to know these things as if he challenged a beat stronger than him he would just die.
"You'll learn more about these things from your teacher." She said. "Teacher?" He asked with a raised brow. "Yes, you'll be joining the training academy the day after tomorrow."
