Vlad's POV
Humans and beastmen had been enemies for centuries, hating each other endlessly. I was no different, simply following what our ancestors had done.
But everything changed the moment I met Ezra. Even though it started as a deal between me and the Dragon King, Calix, I knew Ezra belonged to him.
Still, when I met him… my heart skipped a beat. I even ended up hugging him. It felt like I was about to break the promise I made to Calix—just to keep Ezra for myself.
But I couldn't do it. In the end, I followed the plan we had agreed upon.
Since the moment I left Ezra in that cave, it's felt like something important was missing from me. I regretted it deeply. I knew it was betrayal, but I was still willing to take the risk and come back.
But when I returned, I had no idea that Calix's real lover was someone else—and he had returned too. That was a green flag for me. That's why I came to see Ezra again… to take him away.
