Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Sword Riding, Arrival at Safe Zone

Due to the urgency of time, Principal Zhu gave a brief explanation, after which Xue Musheng led the vanguard team and departed first.

"Young Master Zhou, when are we leaving?" Principal Zhu looked at Zhou Haoyu and asked.

"Half an hour later," Zhou Haoyu thought for a moment and replied.

With the Flame Scorpion Tiger's strength, it could sweep through the demon creatures near Tianlan High School, so the vanguard team would face little danger.

But the rear main force was different. If even a single One-Eyed Demon Wolf charged in, it could result in heavy casualties.

Although Zhou Haoyu could easily kill a One-Eyed Demon Wolf in an instant, there was no way he could protect several thousand people at once.

So, it was best to wait for the Flame Scorpion Tiger to clear out the nearby demon creatures before moving the main group.

"Before we set out, divide everyone into groups. Fifty per group, with one or two teachers leading each. If there aren't enough teachers, assign a few students with strong mental fortitude."

Zhou Haoyu wasn't planning to set out in batches, but rather to make management easier.

Without group management, if they encountered demon creatures, panic would break out easily.

Although this wouldn't completely solve the problem, there was no better method for now. At the very least, it would greatly reduce casualties.

Under the arrangement of Principal Zhu and the teachers, neat formations soon appeared on the field.

The usual routine of morning runs finally came in handy.

Once preparations were nearly complete, Principal Zhu looked at Zhou Haoyu and said, "Young Master Zhou, how about I handle the rear security, and you lead from the front?"

Zhou Haoyu pondered for a moment before nodding. Principal Zhu was a defense mage, and holding the rear shouldn't be an issue.

If danger arose, Zhou could rush to assist in time.

Before setting out, Principal Zhu gave a rousing speech to boost morale, but it had little effect.

Each teacher led their formation out in order, and Zhou Haoyu moved alongside the fifth formation.

With his current spiritual strength, he could not only sense a radius of thirty meters but also manipulate objects within that range with precise control.

"Young Master Zhou, we'll be relying on you for this journey… Sigh, this Blood Alert really came too suddenly. If it weren't for your presence, I can't imagine how many students would have died."

Leading the fifth group was a female teacher, tall and elegant, dressed in a simple beige dress. Her smooth hair was draped over her right shoulder, and she exuded a gentle, graceful aura.

"Though I'm not from Bo City, in times of disaster, we should not be divided. Moreover, I'm a mage—naturally, I cannot just stand by," Zhou Haoyu replied with a smile.

Zhou Haoyu had grown up in a prestigious family, so such polite words came naturally to him.

As expected, upon hearing these words, the female teacher's impression of him improved considerably. Her beautiful eyes frequently glanced at Zhou Haoyu.

However, her gaze was a bit strange—more like a mother-in-law looking at her future son-in-law.

"With a student as outstanding as you, I imagine you have quite a few admirers?" the female teacher asked curiously.

"I do, but I've rejected all of them," Zhou Haoyu said.

Zhou Haoyu had quite the reputation at the Imperial Capital Academy's Azure Campus, no less than Mu Ningxue's.

Naturally, he had many admirers some even from the main campus who wanted to "rob the cradle"—but Zhou Haoyu had no interest.

He still held certain principles. If he just sought a quick thrill, wouldn't that make him no better than Zhao Manyan?

Besides, with a goddess-level fiancée like Mu Ningxue, Zhou Haoyu had no need to settle for less.

"Mm, at your age, it's better to focus on cultivation," the female teacher nodded.

Zhou Haoyu simply smiled, then continued using his spiritual sense to monitor the surroundings.

"Ms. Wenhua, can we really reach Safe Zone safely?" a female student asked, voice trembling.

"Don't worry. There won't be any problems," Ms. Wenhua replied firmly. Only with such confidence could she soothe the students' fear.

Zhou Haoyu raised an eyebrow. This Ms. Wenhua seemed to be Zhou Min's mother, and she looked surprisingly young—what a surprise.

In the rear.

"So many One-Eyed Demon Wolves. Mr. Zhang, take the students and go. I'll stay and hold them off," said Principal Zhu quickly to Zhang Jianguo as he watched the suddenly gathered pack of One-Eyed Demon Wolves.

If even one One-Eyed Demon Wolf broke into the main force, it would cause a catastrophe.

Zhang Jianguo's expression was grim. He was only a Basic-Tier Mage, and staying behind wouldn't be of any help. Maintaining the formation was more important.

At that moment, a flash of cold light shot in from behind, piercing through the heads of three One-Eyed Demon Wolves in a row.

Zhang Jianguo rubbed his eyes, hardly daring to believe what he just saw those One-Eyed Demon Wolves were dealt with that easily?

"Restrict their movements, leave the killing to me," Zhou Haoyu's voice came from above.

Principal Zhu and Zhang Jianguo looked up, only to see Zhou Haoyu, full of vigor, flying through the air, standing atop a silver longsword.

Sword Riding!

Principal Zhu and Zhang Jianguo were utterly stunned this scene looked like something out of a myth!

Principal Zhu reacted quickly. He slapped his palms to the ground, instantly raising a stone wall to block the One-Eyed Demon Wolves ahead.

In the sky, Zhou Haoyu pressed his index and middle fingers together and drew a few small circles.

Two silver flying swords, under his control, continuously harvested the lives of the One-Eyed Demon Wolves it was as effortless as playing a match-3 game.

Zhang Jianguo stared, dumbfounded, at the sight. He even got the illusion of thinking, "Even I could probably do that!"

"So there's a Bone-Spike Fiend Wolf… no wonder it managed to rally so many One-Eyed Demon Wolves."

Under Zhou Haoyu's perception, there was a Warrior-level Bone-Spike Fiend Wolf behind the pack of One-Eyed Demon Wolves.

However, upon sensing that Zhou Haoyu wasn't someone to mess with, the Bone-Spur Wolf promptly turned tail and fled.

Zhou Haoyu didn't give chase. Instead, he took out his Soul-collecting Magic Tool and began collecting the souls of the One-Eyed Demon Wolves.

"Pretty decent luck, two Soul Essences dropped."

Previously, that female Bone-Spur Fiend Wolf had also dropped a Soul Essence.

Counting these two, Zhou Haoyu now had one Warrior-level Soul Essence and three Servant-level Soul Essences.

Looking down at the two stunned men below, Zhou Haoyu reminded, "Principal Zhu, we need to catch up with the main force."

"Young Master Zhou, this method of attack… I've never even heard of it before."

Seeing all this, Principal Zhu felt even more convinced that Zhou Haoyu was no ordinary mage.

Zhou Haoyu simply shrugged and didn't bother explaining. He directly drove the flying sword beneath his feet and chased after the main force.

Watching Zhou Haoyu's figure gradually fade into the distance, Principal Zhu and Zhang Jianguo could only suppress the shock in their hearts and run to catch up.

The rest of the journey went relatively smoothly. Only two or three more One-Eyed Demon Wolves attacked, and all were swiftly handled by Zhou Haoyu.

Finally, after crossing a bridge, a light barrier resembling a city wall came into view.

Safe Zone!
